I just bought an Xbox 360 Slim, 250GB. It’s immaculate. It was only $60 on eBay. Came with HDMI cable and power supply with a genuine first party controller. Never buy a 360 from DKoldies. But I understand you bought it for a video purpose.
To be honest, I think it is lucky for most of us because, I keep seeing stuff on dkoldies, and quite frankly, I am not spending that much money on any of the stuff they sell on there. When I can get it for like 10 times cheaper elsewhere. But now, especially knowing that they false advertise their products, it is double true to not pay dkoldies a dime for their products. Like why buy a used PS3 that comes in looking the way this dudes PS3 looked in the other video. The description stated on the dkoldies website stated it was cleaned. Like I have never seen a console period that has looked that shitty. In my life. And if you are paying 400 dollars plus, there is absolutely no excuse. None at all.
I think it was pretty well established from the PS3 you bought a month ago (and all the other channels that have covered this) that DKOldies really doesn't put much (or any) effort in refurbishing their consoles despite charging egregious prices.... so why the hell would you honestly buy four more consoles from them? Sure the bad press may be hurting them...but you're still giving them money in the end aren't you? :/ If my system showed up in that state I would've written them off after the first time and never look back.
The goal is for them to improve so that customers buying from them get what they deserve, just buying one and letting it go wouldn't do that. Large youtubers making multiple videos will cause DKOldies to either A) Improve and regain consumer confidence (let's hope) B) Lose a lot of business, with consumers that buy from them still getting awful products.
Content, but also they deserve to get dragged through the mud. If they refuse to change their practices, make it so DKOldies pops up on UA-cam with these videos. Word of mouth is a powerful tool, and the more people ask "is DKOldies a scam" just like they do with Ebay, the more the masses will start to push back too.
Hey Jacob, now that they know your number/address/name, I suggest changing this info around for orders going forward if you plan to continue these (which I hope you do). Make sure you find yourself a genuine "Microsoft refurbished" console. A few weeks ago, I bought a 2007 Zephyr that was serviced in 2009 as indicated by the replacement "Service sticker". Going by the serial number, it didn't last two years before it was sent back. They will also have a paper warranty seal behind the faceplate if it hasn't been tampered with since the refurbishment. I'm looking forward to winter to see how the older, refurbished hardware holds up. If it ends up overheating, I'll clean it and replace the thermal paste right away.
I worked at DKoldies for a short period. basically the mentality here was we get paid nothing so in return are pretty relaxed with our effort in refurbishing, normally the new employees are the most diligent but after about a week they end up like the rest. normally we just gave it a quick wipe down and that was it... plus if we ever damaged a console accidentally while doing a proper refurbishment it would be deducted from our pay so we would avoid taking the console apart in depth. minimum pay = minimum effort.
With these earlier revisions Xbox besides the GPU Chip going bad, the caps are also known to go bad in these early 360’s. And it is recommended to replace those early model heatsinks. They underperform, get a hold of some later model heatsinks that will do a better job with cooling along with some new thermal paste. Installing some little heatsinks on the ram chips can help too with preserving these early revisions of the 360. I highly recommend to avoid the screw in method or any of those early nonsense fixes. I took the screws out of my refurbed 360 and put the XClamps back in.

I bought my first three this month. Microsoft refurbished Zephyr (psu and controller) under 30 2009 v2 Jasper(loose) under 20 (bought an official Microsoft Falcon psu for a few dollars) 2011 slim Corona(controller but missing hard-drive) under 30 as well. I'm more worried about using the slim than I am the refurbished Zephyr as I've heard bad things about the 4gb onboard memory failing. I would really like to use the older console and see how well it works since it was repaired by Microsoft themselves. This winter will provide me with adequate time to really stretch it's legs.
Wow, that's the oldest of the xenons without the updated heatsink and glue around the chips. Amazed it's still running. Then again, it froze on you, which is the precursor to RROD!
So, official Xbox 360 controllers can be bought used on eBay for $20. DKOLDIES is selling them for $50, WHICH MEANS THEY HAVE THEM. They are saving these official controllers that are traded in with these systems and then selling them for $50 and giving people who end up buying the systems the knock off controllers. So scummy.
Pretty soon, you're gonna have to start ordering through an alias or a friend or neighbor. Otherwise they're gonna start cherry picking your orders to make sure they look nice, but still neglect every other customer.
It is worth noting that prior to Jasper, the Falcon and Opus units weren't too prone to the RROD. With fresh thermal paste, a good cleaning and good airflow they should be able to run for many years to come, albeit not quite as reliably as a Jasper.
I'm witnessing an increased amount of Falcon models succumb to hardware failures (including ones manufactured in mid to late 2008) so I'd say proceed with caution for the Falcon/Opus models. Definitely Jasper models from 2009 to 2010 are the most reliable 360 models due to their lowest hardware failure rates. If I have to rank the 360 models (original, S, and E models) from most reliable to least reliable, my rankings would look like this: Jasper, Trinity, Corona, Winchester, Falcon/Opus, Zephyr, Xenon
@@PackBrewBadgeWI4do you come across many "Microsoft refurbished" Zephyrs that fail? What patterns have you seen with early refurbished models? I bought a black Jasper Tonasket a week ago but I'd like to use the refurbished console primarily this winter.
@@matttherrien9608 let's put it this way: non-refurbished zephyrs originally manufactured in 2007 have red ringed or will red ring any given day because of their numerous flaws with their design. Refurbished zephyrs are more reliable but are mostly a hit or miss in terms of reliability like the Falcon models (generally more reliable than earlier iterations) but lately, I've seen refurbished Zephyr models red ring again and run into disk drive issues.

Idk anything about Xbox consoles that much, but the disc drive should NOT be that loud, at least in my personal experience. I think I own a Jasper one as it is one with an HDMI port and hasn't RROD ever. I have first party everything, execpt for the controller, probably. Haven't played in like a year and a half, but I plan on checking to see if it works sometime this week. I'll probably buy a can of compressed air and get the tools to take it apart to clean it out.
When you send orders back, you should print out the definition of 'Refurbished' and slip it in the box. "A refurbished item is a pre-owned product that's been evaluated, cleaned, repaired, upgraded (in some cases), and then resold. For computers and mobile devices, these products also have their data wiped and drives restored to the factory settings."
I've got a 17 year-old Zephyr Microsoft refurbished in 2009. At least it's not "refurbished" by these folks or Gamestop. I bought it three weeks ago for under 30 with power supply and one controller. Last week I bought a loose black v2 Jasper and a spare official Falcon psu for about 20 bucks. I feel somewhat complete now that I'm i possession of a fat Tonasket Jasper. This will be my first time diving into the 360. I want to use the older refurbished Zephyr as my main console for the winter months. If it overheats, I'll clean and repaste it right away.

I used to do repairs and custom paint jobs for 360’s in high school and those x-clamps were always BRUTAL to remove. There’s a reason I stopped! True pain!
Stop supporting this company don't buy anything from them plz
I Agree
Large youtubers making multiple videos will cause DKOldies to either A) Improve and regain consumer confidence (let's hope) B) Lose a lot of business, with consumers that buy from them still getting awful products.
..views 😉
It's for the content obv
I see it as him taking the bullet for others. He buys one, shows what you get on UA-cam, multiple others now know DKO is not worth giving business to.
It's mind boggling that they charge $120 for an early version 360. I'm sure they go for half that on ebay.
I grabbed a 2007 Zephyr model refurbished June 2009 for < 30.
It'll be fun to literally play it to death. I want a Trinity Slim for a backup.
Damm,no HDMI port? This must have been sent from Fred Flintstone from the Jurassic era...
Step 1: Buy overpriced stuff from shady company, for the 100th time.
Step 2: Act surprised and/or disappointed.
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit.
Hey Jacob, now that they know your number/address/name, I suggest changing this info around for orders going forward if you plan to continue these (which I hope you do). My guess is their next move will be identifying and flagging orders from content creators, and making sure those orders are immaculate to try and save face while neglecting "normal" orders.
Someone's got to sue this company. At this point they are blatantly lying to customers and taking advantage of folks who don't know better. I bet a class action lawsuit against DK Oldies could actually stick.
Send a message to DKOldies next time asking it to be filmed :)
Lol

Got my Xbox 360 off eBay for $60, came with hdmi port official controller and original power cord. It’s still kicking 5 years later too. So just go for eBay if u want to nostalgia trip I guess 🤷♂️
I grabbed a 2007 Arcade refurbished 2009. It was less than 30 bucks though. It came with a 30 gb HDD, power brick and official controller.
I plan on grabbing a second as a backup. Probably a Trinity Slim. But I'll grab anything newer than 2008 for the right price.
My local dump literally gives the pre-HDMI Xbox 360's away for Free! For $230 you can buy a developer debug 360 off eBay.
I dare you to send them something broken. They legit have a trade-in service where you can send them in your stuff (and eventually overprice it)
Good idea he should 🤣 they would probably take it for free and sell it
As a gamer, an a actual rational person,I would not sell this boundle more than 40 bucks faulty power brick third party controller ,worst version of xbox, and with no thermal protection, I could understand double that of a company but at least fix some basic things, Dk oldies they treat as like garbage, it s like retro should be a privilege to play premium prices for systems that are ready stop working any time, especially with theirs refubished bullcrap , the thing is if a normal person priced somthing similar nobody whould buy at such outrageous prices, but people are buying from them cause they have that supposed trustworthy company ,we can see how trustworthy they are
Love the DKoldies videos😆
They blocked me on tiktok after confronting them about this vid
There's been a bunch of re-released XBOX games that were 360 compatible and got 360 style cases. Came pretty late in the 360's life cycle and wasn't really notable.
I bought a used but fully boxed 360 from ebay for under 70 bucks shipped
To be fair, you did order a 20 gig xbox 360. The xbox 360's that came with a 20 gig hdd were the launch models from 05 and 06.
Mid/late 2007 is when hdmi output was added, and mid/late 2008 is when the 20gb was replaced by the 60gb pro. So they absolutely should have specified exactly which revision they would send you.
@@thall6594 Why? It's up to the CUSTOMER to specify what they want. If you're not sure about something, then you should ask. Either way, he got a working Xbox 360 with a 20Gb HDD... exactly what he ordered.
So how do you explain the fact that they advertised hdmi?
They can always snap a 20 gig bulk replacement or aftermarket drive onto a newer revision of the classic model.
@@another3997 I think you seem to miss the point. The reason why it's a problem is because a lot of the models from 05-07 have rrod which kills the console permanently. So it's an absolute problem. It also advertised HDMI Hookup which means it would have an HDMI port which it didn't. So it also did false advertise
Sending the worst version of the console was low key spite
It's called due diligence. Buyer beware
They have been deleting comments referencing your videos, just thought I would let you know. So sketchy man…
Yeh they’ve been doing that for about a month now unfortunately
@David Mozingo why would anyone in their right mind critique the comments?
They are scammers. Don't buy from them.
How are they even allowed to send this stuff out the door with no refurbishment whatsoever?
Probably because the term "refurbished" has no legal merit. It means as much as the vendor wants it to mean.
Tbh I think anyone who is trying to prolong a xenon, rather than just upgrading to a jasper or slim, is doing it wrong
@@jrob0021 Xenons are becoming rare and collectable compared to Jaspers and Slims. It’s very easy to get a hold of a Jasper. And it is easier to get a hold of a Slim/E. With the Xenon it can be downgraded to the earliest Blades Dash. Where as with the Jasper, the Blades dash was gone by the time they were released. I have a 2005 Xenon which i plan on JTagging.
@@jrob0021A few weeks ago, I bought a Microsoft refurbished Zephyr for 30 bucks that that I'd like use as my main system this winter. A week later, I bought a 2011 slim that I'm worried about the 4gb nand dying on me.
Last week I found a loose fat black Elite v2 Jasper Kronos/Tonasket in the wild at a thrift shop for under 20. I bought an official Microsoft Falcon psu for it for just a few bucks.
All in all, I have three complete consoles and two official controllers for under 100.
Should I be okay putting my faith in the old console? What's the worst that could happen?
I stop buying from DkOldies bc I was told if I slept with him or one of his employees I’ll get a 50% discount which was freaking capped!
how they have not found your channel and not been embarrassed by there work is baffling
The kicker is they found his channel and actually called him, and yet they sent him another crap console
'Thermal paste is squeezed out'. Thats fairly normal for all computers.
I got the same model with no hdmi but it has the 2010 NXE dashboard only reason I'm keeping it lol. Bought a av to HDTV converter works great.
Nxe dashboard is the goat
@@jrob0021 hell yeah
@@itznazz3137 I have one with the Blades dashboard and another with an NXE. Both are 2006 models. The Blades 360 works great. NXE has some trouble reading discs but it just needs a laser cleaning.
@CoolGorillaGoAnimate7000 blades looks awesome but the NXE is what I grew up with and sadly it can't play any games after 2010 lol. What happens if I plug in a ethernet cable to it?
@@itznazz3137 it will ask you to update if you try to connect to Xbox Live. I don't know if that applies to Media Center though.
By this point, DKOldies gets an order from Jacob and Joey immediately chubs up.
Joey is getting a huge worse reputation as well.
Man this brings back memories! I remember having to do the towel trick to get the solder to reflow and make the console work again. I remember having to take it apart and do the penny trick under the X clamps. Crazy that they didn’t even bother opening up a jasper
They probably do this intentionally because they know who you are and the things you've said about them. But dang the 360 was a rip off
Loving these DKOldies videos! Please keep ‘em coming!
I bought a refurbished PSP and they sent me a pipe bomb 😢
At this point I find it funny that you’ve ordered with them so much that they should be catching on by now.
He’s probably going to milk it for a while. He was one of the first creators who made vids exposing dk oldies. It’s only recently that dk has been getting called out by everyone and people are eating it up. You’ll prob see a couple more dk oldies videos from Jacob
I would love if he ordered a console from them and there is like an ant farm secretly hidden inside the console somehow. Thriving lol. That would be hilarious.
Of course they don't include batteries..
My nephew had an xbox 360 with no hdmi port, but the component cable was capable of outputting 1080p and it looked great, just like an hdmi. But of course, the red rign of death killed it.
hmm wonder how bad it is this time
You would think seeing as they called you, they’d know to send you their best. Obviously not. Also, just bought an elite from eBay, original box, all books and accessories in original bags, flawless cosmetic condition like brand new, works perfect for $90.
I bought my first three this month.
Microsoft refurbished Zephyr (psu and controller) under 30
2009 v2 Jasper(loose) under 20 (bought an official Microsoft Falcon psu for a few dollars)
2011 slim Corona(controller but missing hard-drive) under 30 as well.
So where would it be trusty to purchase old consoles like these? I want a 360 :(
Find a refurbished one at a thrift shop would be your best bet.
Craigslist.
Wait a second you paid 120 bucks 😳 wow I would of sold you one with HDMI for 20 bucks
Funny how people roast them but still buy their products
I think its funny that they put warranty seals on a console that they can't enforce lol
Huh? They can though lol
@@sixtyninelol warranty stickers aren't enforceable in the United States, look it up lol
2:35 thank you, now I know I got a Falcon
Wow, that's the oldest of the xenons without the updated heatsink and glue around the chips. Amazed it's still running. Then again, it froze on you, which is the precursor to RROD!
So, official Xbox 360 controllers can be bought used on eBay for $20. DKOLDIES is selling them for $50, WHICH MEANS THEY HAVE THEM. They are saving these official controllers that are traded in with these systems and then selling them for $50 and giving people who end up buying the systems the knock off controllers. So scummy.
This man singlehandedly saved the company from bankruptcy.
or caused their downward spiral haha. probably not, but i wish these guys would do better
Dang... It's the unit everyone had when i was in high school... I can't believe any of those are still working. Ring machines.
I've heard that the later refurbished Zephyrs ended up being nearly as reliable as Falcons after they improved the hardware. I just bought my Zephyr the other week.

My Xbox 360 E's disc drive is soooo loud. It's louder than the TVand shakes the whole cabinet it's in, and it sounds like an old washing machine on the spin cycle. It just recently started doing that.
Sounds like it might need a cleaning or something
@@jrob0021 yeah it probably does, it's for my whole family though so I'm not sure how they would feel about that.

It wasn't a scam if you didn't remove it from the box and look at it.
It’s gotta be illegal to call something refurbished with no actual work done to it no? Like that seems like a false advertising suit waiting to happen
You should order a newer Xbox maybe like a Xbox one or something be interesting to see love the content ❤
The 360's disc drive was always that loud. I always found it egregious, especially compared to the PS3's Blu-Ray drive which is inaudible.

The word _refurbished_ REEEEEEALLY needs to recieve a strict legal definition.
That thing was doomed. Red light in a month or 2.
Bro this is off topic to the video but the transition to the sponsor was one of the best I’ve seen
DKOldies - Selling you junk at high prices!
When I attempted to fix my red ring, I HATED the x clamps. I even destroyed a capacitor trying to remove it.
Never buy a third party power brick for anybody who is reading. It will fail just get an OEM
3rd party controller, 3rd party power brick... I'm surprised they didn't send u a 3rd party 360 with NES and Atari games in it
Idk anything about Xbox consoles that much, but the disc drive should NOT be that loud, at least in my personal experience.
Why would they open consoles when they can just use X-ray vision and see if the console needs refurbishing
wtf? third party power brick?
Bro that sponsor transition was the opposite of smooth, spiky and rough
Isn't false advertising what they're doing?
How does DKoldies save face or respond to all of these videos that discredits them as a good seller of retro games?
That segway into Aura was smooth and I respect it
