I actually think something else is happening. I was also Platinum at some point and I played a Conq player. I also lost. So clearly, it's not about the civs, but it's that conq players counter platinum players.
something wierd with the ranks this season, i'm a conq player. Played my placements against all conq players, lost most of them and got put in gold. I've played a fair few players that were conq in the last 2 seasons and are now in plat or diamond. I think the elo and the ranked points are not matching up very well
why is a conq3 playing against a plat aoe4 matching system fucked up and it become more fucked up when people stop playing it because of it. plat will think like plat cant blame him for being a plat
Long story short, when a player is in queue for more than 6 minutes, the matchmaking system increases the ELO window for finding an opponent to a large value. Sometimes there are few high conqueror players queueing at the same time, and if they happen to wait over 6 minutes for an opponent then you have situations like this one.
I am plat and playing mainly as English. I lost more game. But when I win a game, the first comment from the opponent is, "English is easy and crap civ. Noob play English" and left the game quickly. I want to learn the game mechanic first, then the other civ. I feel so bad about it
This is exactly my thoughts as well. I play English online simply because they’re easy to learn and I’ve only started a week ago lol. But I don’t plan on them being my main. They are by far not the best civ in this game. A decent one yes. People just like to excuse their own inadequacies. It can never be that they lost just because they aren’t the better player. It always has to be because of the game or something you did. Also ironic how they called English a crap civ yet they lost to them lol. Does that mean they are a crap player?
there will always be people blaming you rather than themselves for how they play. playing a simpler civ to learn mechanics is an excellent strategy. Besides, English is fun to play and very versatile. Don't give up! GLHF!
I do think english are particularly annoying to play against. Im for from pro level obviously, but it just feels like they get a free shot at kinda just overwhelming you in the early game for them to then also be able to be super safe and just stretch out the game if they dont win basically by min 10-15. They of course arent super mega broken, but they have been like at least a tier for the entire time i have played (at least for most players). The fact that their strats have been essentially unchanged ever since release on one hand should make it easier to counter them, but it also just makes a game vs english incredibly predictable in the worst way, made worse by huge playerbase and the amount of people who just spam english their entire time, that never venture out and experience the variance of civs.
It’s funny because most tier list videos I watch have them at C-B only one have I ever seen them in A and that was specifically for FFA. But I agree. I just started this game a week ago and trying to learn English and Japanese. Just because English is easy to learn. But they are the most boring to play to me. You literally play them the same way every time with little variation. I want to learn them for competitive play to get me more familiar with this game but I definitely don’t plan on them being my main.

After watching this I am really happy I don't play multiplayer and just play casual against AI lmao. I cannot sweat APM this hard. Hats off to the explanations though. I wish this info was useful for playing against AI but they just cheat haha.
You dont need APM like this to play multiplayer. APM really matters only in top 5% games. U can get to gold rank easily with low APM only by playing smart.
Golden horn carries a lot of value with Keshiks as they spawn in batches of 3 instead of 2. In the final analysis, the landmark in this situation is irrelevant as ranged armor, veterancy upgrades and MAA are all you need from Age 3
To be fair he said that he want to rewatch the game. Byzantines vs English is a match that heavily favours the English on the same skill level. He was clearly below Valdemar in skill. Conqueror 3 vs platinum 1 is a huge cap

I do it as a habit called “cycling”. It helps to produce vills and flick the camera quickly
