Im envious! I've heard a lot about PawPaws from elders here in Indiana. I've never seen one and I've grown up and currently live in the country. I think im going to order a couple. I have some woods on our property and I hear that young PawPaws can get scalded in severely hot sun, so I plan to clear out an area near the edge of our woods to plant them. Since they are really understory trees, that should work. Love you and Tuck!🥰
Over here in Europe these are pretty hard to get. I got some fruit from a small scale nursery, and am eagerly awaiting the seedlings to ditch the seed and start growing leaves (probably around 7 or so are germinating, I'm seeing their roots along the edge of the plastic container I'm growing them in. Pretty soon I'm gonna need to get some land to grow my own fruit trees on.
Very informative! Thanks for posting. My husband was fishing when he found a paw paw tree with several saplings, He transplanted some of them (responsibly I promise). now we have 3. I so hope they'll be productive. I may have to get a 4th from a different source.

I found two seeds a little over a year ago, in an East Texas forest. I am zone 8. There was a lot of baby Papaws also growing in that forest. I brought the seeds home, thinking they were too far gone, and planted them anyway. It took a few months and lots of patience, but one day... "Wahla! There were two babies growing in the pot. I am waiting until this next Spring to put them into the ground as part of my food forest. (I also have Papayas. Six of them.)

Tuck loves his veggies. I think it's cute seeing a dog willing 2 eat veggies. I going 2 find some pawpaws n plant them in neighbors farm woodland. Don't worry I have permission 2 plant fruit trees.

It also helps provide an environment formore of our Heavenly father's creatures to habitate.

@@cpnotill9264 In NYS they were only native to the area near Lake Erie, the Niagara River, and western Lake Ontario: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asimina_triloba#/media/File:Asimina_triloba_range_map_1.png They are easy to find online. They like shade when they're young. Seedlings are more hardy than grafted varieties. The seeds need to be exposed to cold to sprout(stratification). They sprout late(July-Oct). They should do fine in zone 5b. Mine had no freeze damage at all after -13 degrees F.
Frankly I had never heard of these until I saw them on Vivian Howard and she did an episode about them. As a northern person Ive never seen them for sale but i should like to try it!
My property here at the western edge of New York State has the largest stand of wild pawpaws in the state. Mine average six to eight inches in size, and have a distinctive caramel-chocolate flavor (I sell most of them to a company that makes them into ice cream). Question: Why don't you eat the skin? It's thin and as tasty as the skin on a pear; also, it's also where most of the nutrients and medicinal properties are located. Try it, and leave your spoon in the kitchen!
Chas Z Do you know what variety has that distinct flavor? The ones here in Ohio are more banana flavored. If you don’t know the name of the cultivar, perhaps you would be willing to share some seeds. Thanks.
I am getting into growing NJ native plants. I just ordered a couple of paw paw seedlings. I will keep them in containers for as long as I can. I'd like to keep them on the small side.
Not a vet, but we looked it up the other day & found that the fruit of the pawpaw is ok for dogs; we gave our dog a little taste (not much, especially for the first time) and she liked it and we had no problems. Some pawpaw for our little paw-paw!!
Just found your channel. 2 1/2 years ago my husband was given some pawpaws he loved them was working away from home so I never got to try them. Remember as a child we use to sing picking up pawpaw putting them in a basket on and on ..............way down younger in the pawpaw patch. That's crazy cuz I was just think if they would grow at our lake house on Bullshols lake. Now I have to figure out how to get see and plant them down there.
OMG! When you and Tuck shared the radish, my heart just melted. Great video!
Eating pawpaw for dinner tonight. ❤
*He made 12 burgers for all 6 grandkids. 😢 Love him*
Omg. I laughed. Probably more than I should have. God bless pawpaw😂
Oh LORD JESUS 😮
Every time you upload my day gets so much better! Thanks man you inspire me every day!
You guys know who this heart is for❣️
❤❤❤ Tuck is the cutest!
I love the way Tuck pulls off the greens before he starts eating his veggies. My pugs love carrots, bok choy and the crispy parts of lettuce.
Very informative! Thanks for posting. My husband was fishing when he found a paw paw tree with several saplings, He transplanted some of them (responsibly I promise). now we have 3. I so hope they'll be productive. I may have to get a 4th from a different source.
When I first noticed him I don't. Thoughtuch of it .😂
Look at him now .. and Tuck ? Having the enjoyment of his life is like a Shopping Spread right in his backyard. .
There are two trees on the next block to me here in Astoria Queens NY. My first introduction to it last year and I was hooked. Now I get to enjoy it every year by the owners permission. I like the type you had on this video.
omg he's adorable! i have a paw paw in my yard i am told. it has the most beautiful upside down roses on it!
awwwwww Tuck is such a little sweet boy garden dog!
Never heard or seen this thank you for sharing
You’re welcome my friend 😁
These grow where i live. I love them!
Love how enthusiastic you appear starting off every video which show you enjoy what you do. Sorry to admit that I enjoy gardening just as much as you do and I check on my plants first before checking on the kids whenever I get home from work. Lmao 5 thumbs up to you and your channel. Wish you lived in Cali so I have a buddy that shares the same interest. Peace✌2 U and yours.
Amazing fruits!🤭👏🥰🙏GOD so Great and We Bless !thank you Sir. Sharing The Yummy Fruits
God Bless you and your Family ,watching 🇺🇸🥰🇵🇭
Got 2 saplings from a friend several years ago. This I think I will have fruit. Hopefully they will mature and keep the fruit.
Tuck loves his veggies. I think it's cute seeing a dog willing 2 eat veggies. I going 2 find some pawpaws n plant them in neighbors farm woodland. Don't worry I have permission 2 plant fruit trees.
Thankyou for sharing this information about a fruit that I can grow where I live in North FL. This is exciting to add it to my list to acquire!
I love your attitude and Tuck is a star.thnks for the info
I love these videos and can't wait to start my own garden. Can you make a video about what you do with the food you're unable to eat do to abundance? Would love to know if you can food, compost, etc.
You’re making the world a better place! Thanks!
The truth you speak is incredibly inspirational! Everyone should learn how to grow at least something. It teaches you responsibility and caring and you get the nutritional benefits of growing your own food versus wasting money and buying mass-produce low nutrition food. It also helps provide an environment formore of our Heavenly father's creatures to habitate.
This is my second season gardening and I did way better this season with more harvest plus more plants I propagated 😁 Thanks for sharing!
your dog is precious! love seeing him rip out the leaves before eating the radish lol
I thought that was so cute !Never seen a dog do that before
Yaaaas I'm so excited you grew Paw paw!!!! That's amazing. I want to get on top of that too! Sweet! :) I want to grow it so badly when I get a little more established. Thanks for sharing all this information, super valuable and fun :) They honestly looked SOOO delicious. I'm looking to grow as much fruit in my garden as possible, in true permaculture fashion as you have inspired me so heavily. Thanks for EVERYTHING you're the man.
I planted 2 paw paws last year and they're growing nicely! Your doggy is adorable!!
Wow I need to find a Paw Paw or two for sure for my upstate NY zone 5b food forest. Thanks James for the info and I am on the hunt to find a paw paw to eat. 👍🏼🌱😁
@DefinitelyNotDan Thank you! 👍🏼
@@cpnotill9264 In NYS they were only native to the area near Lake Erie, the Niagara River, and western Lake Ontario: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asimina_triloba#/media/File:Asimina_triloba_range_map_1.png They are easy to find online.

Do you know what variety has that distinct flavor? The ones here in Ohio are more banana flavored. If you don’t know the name of the cultivar, perhaps you would be willing to share some seeds. Thanks.
@@jackieback6172 Not a cultivar, just a wild variant peculiar to my property. I'd be glad to send some seeds.

Wonderful! Please email me - msjackieback@gmail.com and I’ll give you my address (probably best not to post it publicly, lol).
@@Ripleyripperhi! I’m super interested in some seeds too! Do you think you could send my way? I’m in CT
@@Andrew-gx7xu Be glad to when this year's crop id ripe, mid to late September.
Tuck just loves his veggie snacks. He is soooooooo cute. Loving your videos James. Blessings
Yes he does!!! I love the heck out of that little pup! Thanks my friend, I’m glad you’re enjoying them
Just found your channel. 2 1/2 years ago my husband was given some pawpaws he loved them was working away from home so I never got to try them. Remember as a child we use to sing picking up pawpaw putting them in a basket on and on ..............way down younger in the pawpaw patch. Husband saved seeds I tried to plant 8-10 waited for just a little green all summer no luck . I do have 15 left going to try again (any help out there) I do live in New York would love to make jam and wine
So much cuteness- James. Tuck, ad he even loves pawpaw! Ate so many in Tennessee..
