- WOW! I finally did it! I MADE THIS TUTORIAL after like a year of people asking me to do it. Ok... it was 9 months ago-ish to be more exact but you get the idea.
The robot arm (provided below) was originally part of a free base mesh called "lowman_shoes" I got off a 3D site (I cant remember which one)!
I modeled it into a robot arm which I then decided to attach to some keyed footage (also provided below) I filmed on my green screen.

Thank you and welcome to the channel!
Good tutorial bro, thnx for this, I didn't know that constraint 👏🏻
Of course! Glad it was helpful!!
amazing tutorial
Glad you enjoyed this one!!
really like your videos.
I am happy to hear you are enjoying the videos!
Such an interesting Workflow.
Id Just remove the sock arm in compositing once the robot arm is rendered
Also preferably using a green arm. Or am I wrong?
I've never done object tracking so not sure if it would work
You are correct everything you said would work well. The reason I use images as planes is because I like to do as much as possible in Blender especially when it comes time to light the scene. Also with images as planes I get accurate reflections and shadows right in Blender so I don’t have to do extra work later. I personally find it very flexible. However it’s all dependent on the preference of the individual and the situation
@@purpleparkstudios4124 no I agree with that part. But the way you removed the sock part is just crazy to me haha. Is just remove it in ae while I composite the video and render together. Or so you render everything on one layer?
@@PhilFlock i composite in Blender tho
@@purpleparkstudios4124 ahhh interesting.
I guess that's a way to do it.
I've used after effects for 12 years. I just started Blender. It'd be hard for me personally to do everything in blender
Definitely. I use both im just quicker in Blender and can visualize things better in 3D. I’ve tried element 3D in AE but it was limiting. Then again I like to make most of my own models it’s fun
I don't have a system but how can I know this with my mobile phone
You can’t run Blender on a phone at least to my knowledge
Could I do this without a greenscreen? I ordered green tights to put over my arm, is this still doable?
You can definitely do it without a green screen
