From last 8 months I am working as a data scientist!!! But first 4-5 months I only did the statistical analysis of different features. Then make a quick model and now I am working to make the pipelines. So, in my last 8 months journey I only worked couple of weeks in the machine learning things … !!!
In general, this is what I call normal. Unless you were specifically hired to do ML, you have to do mostly data prep and some modeling. Over 90% of the orgs do not need dedicated ML team (in my subjective opinion).

I also used to think like that earlier but once I was in the practical field I found out that most of the task encompasses the reporting and dashboard preparation. Nicely explained.

For academic projects advanced modeling and publications thereof is necessary. However more than 99% of the industry do not use or do not need those kind of advance models. Of course this is my subjective opinion but I hope you get the point. :)
There are multiple companies still out here, who doesn't have specific separation between roles like data scientist/data engineer/Machine learning etc. Which is wrong, Data ingestion,Data Preparation,Data modelling are purely a job role of data engineer, Data Scientist/ Machine Learning Team are ideally should be downstream of Data Engineering team. if you are a data scientist, but working in data preparation, building pipeline,creating data model,writing transformation, maybe in EMR or databricks etc, then you are in wrong industry.
I take your comment positively. Of course if that is the case, then its in the wrong industry. However, data engineering will not prepare the final data for analysis. The DS still need to prepare the analytic data set. That was my main point. Newcomers think that they will just start building models, which in most cases, will not happen.
I worked as an AI engineer for TCS for some time. Then I left the job because if you are not a PHD and not involved in actual R&D, then life is mostly about what you said. With using some existing models, fine tuning them and creating useless apps that serve no purpose. I left Ds and AI and resumed as a backend engineer again. Right now though I am still very passionate about ML and AI, I dont like the work that is readily available in the industry. No doubt the money is big but satisfaction from what you do is also important.

Educational background has an impact, of course. However, you can overcome them if you can demonstrate your expertise in their analytics.. Well, I’m not fully agree with you! Currently I’m working as an AI Algorithm Engineer in Shenzhen, China. I think most of the projects I have done were so cool and state-of-the-art and all were related to DL algorithms, also need to improve them most of the time. I need to read a lot of recent research papers from CVPR/ICLR... etc. So I think it’s depends on the company what u said in your video.

Assalamu Walaikum Sir. I hope you are well. You have explained everything clearly and revealed the true nature of the data industry. This is the real scenario. I am pursuing my MSc in Data Science, and the reality is that when our faculty specifies a topic and we need to choose a dataset based on that, we often struggle to find suitable data. Simply collecting data and writing a few lines of code is not the task of a data scientist. Currently, the process involves spending 40% of the time preparing the data, 50% cleaning and analyzing every feature, and summarizing each feature based on statistical parameters. The remaining 10% is spent on training the model, hyperparameter tuning, and cross-validation. This is the real scenario.

It is difficult to answer this question over a comment. In general, academic curriculum will go into depth and breadth, while Boot Camp will only cover the applied aspects. The goal in Boot Camp is to prepare you for the industry, not necessarily going deeper into the details of the theory.
Assalamu Alaikum Sir, What you've said i.e to prepare data, is mostly work of data engineer. Then why still data scientist or analyst have to do the same? Isn't there a difference between data scientist and data engineer job profile?
Your understanding is partially correct. Data engineers work more upstream and they primarily work with source data and structure them for subsequent use downstreams. Data scientists have to use those data and further process them to fit for the purpose. It is not possible for data engineers or any organization to create one single data set that works for everyone. When you will work in the industry you will know this. I'm assuming you do not have that much experience yet.

Correct. The role you are hired into is very specific. However, data science is more like a generalist role, in most companies.

স্যার,আসসালামুআলাইকুম। আমি স্ট্যাটিস্টিক বিষয়ে সুযোগ পেয়েছি,এখনো প্রথম বর্ষের ক্লাস শুরু হয়নি।আমি এখন থেকেই নিজের কোডিং এর দক্ষতা বাড়ানোর করার চেষ্টা করছি ।মেশিন লার্নিং/ডিপ লার্নিং এ মুভ করতে চাইলে বাংলাদেশে আমার ভবিষ্যত কেমন হতে পারে,কিংবা এই প্রেক্ষিতে গ্র্যাজুয়েশন শেষে এই বিষয়ে বিদেশে স্কলারশিপ পাওয়ার সুযোগ কেমন যদি ৩/৪ বছর পরিশ্রম করে দক্ষতা অর্জন করতে পারি?
ওয়ালাইকুম আসসালাম। এটা একটা অ্যাডভান্টেজ যে আপনি স্ট্যাটিসটিকস পড়ছেন। তবে তিন চার বছর পরে কি হবে সেটা কেউ বলতে পারবে না।
বিদেশে পড়তে যাওয়ার জন্য স্বাভাবিক যে নিয়ম এবং পদ্ধতি সেটি হয়তো থাকবে।

Assalamu Walaikum Sir. I hope you are well. You have explained everything clearly and revealed the true nature of the data industry. This is the real scenario. I am pursuing my MSc in Data Science, and the reality is that when our faculty specifies a topic and we need to choose a dataset based on that, we often struggle to find suitable data. Simply collecting data and writing a few lines of code is not the task of a data scientist.
Currently, the process involves spending 40% of the time preparing the data, 50% cleaning and analyzing every feature, and summarizing each feature based on statistical parameters. The remaining 10% is spent on training the model, hyperparameter tuning, and cross-validation.
This is the real scenario.

It is difficult to answer this question over a comment. In general, academic curriculum will go into depth and breadth, while Boot Camp will only cover the applied aspects. The goal in Boot Camp is to prepare you for the industry, not necessarily going deeper into the details of the theory.

What you've said i.e to prepare data, is mostly work of data engineer. Then why still data scientist or analyst have to do the same?
Isn't there a difference between data scientist and data engineer job profile?
Your understanding is partially correct. Data engineers work more upstream and they primarily work with source data and structure them for subsequent use downstreams.
Data scientists have to use those data and further process them to fit for the purpose.
It is not possible for data engineers or any organization to create one single data set that works for everyone.
When you will work in the industry you will know this. I'm assuming you do not have that much experience yet.

Assalamu Alaikum, I am currently reading in The University of Rajshahi under the department of Statistics. I got this subject unexpectedly. At present I wanna grow my career in Data Science as CSE was my first priority but I failed to get the opportunity to continue my BSC program under the department of CSE. Sir my question is how can I approach being a data scientist. As I have to cover my financial expenses on my own . And have to get a job by 2029 as my father may retire from his job by 2029. My father is telling me to make my preparation for BCS but I don't feel that I may be a BSC Cader by that time. What and which way should I approach, Sir? (Now I am currently covering my 1st year 2nd semester exam.)
