Does these tunes on tritons affect doing SQL's?(small quantity relearning) an SQL should be done with every service on MQ/MR I'm wondering if you can still do them after a tune has been carried out?
Average tunes in Australia depending who you know range from $600 to $900. Catch can well they range from $100 to $300, east to install your self or they will charge $100 to $150 to install. Plus exhaust plus intercooler etc etc so easily 2k for what’s been done to this triton
I was recently quoted approx 1600 for a tune, to give you a rough idea. Catch cans are about 300-400 bucks, and I reckon an hour installation. No idea about the intercooler though.
Why do all tritons got far low power figures then the factory numbers? Im not talking about the modified ones(bigger tires, canopy etc.) even direct from dealership ones giving less output?
Hi there. Because the factory numbers are just estimated, they are not real. They are also estimated at the ENGINE, whereas real power figures are measured at the wheels. There is a substantial power drop between the two.
Im keen to tune a 4x4, mainly for beach and some light offroading. Im used to driving turbo petrol sedans and coupes. In your opinion, what is the best diesel 4x4 vehical to tune? V8 Cruiser? 4.2L Nissan? Do any of these 4cyl utes measure up? I'd love to have a something with the capability to suprise the odd unsuspecting c300/330i
V8 Landcruiser mate - the 70 Series ones make the best gains with an upgraded clutch & custom dyno tune only. And the V6 Amaroks as well as the V6 Navaras (D40s). The Euros are great too - the 4.2L V8s in the Q7s & alike put out seriously impressive torque.
Hi there! No, we never recommend deleting the DPF - ALL of the vehicles that we custom dyno tune have the factory DPFs still in, full intact & 100% working!
WOW. Impressive performance boost! Being this Triton is being set up for towing did the owner have a GVM upgrade done? Power and payload have been my main concern about buying one but you’ve put one part of the concern to rest and would now be on my list of things to do - Also great to hear you’re in Melbourne. Anyone you would recommend for GVM upgrades on these?
@@UltimateDieselTuning guess what im getting at is it worth the upgrade to the aftermarket intercooler?? compared to the std MR intercooler. whats the % difference in HP from the std intercooler compared to the aftermarket intercooler.
@@andylucy4256 So, upgrading the intercooler will reduce the inlet temperatures, so will cause cooler air to enter the engine that's therefore also denser. This results in a leaner combustion event, allowing us to add more fuel via the tune to take advantage of the extra oxygen in the cylinders, which has the net result of providing more consistent & sustainable power & torque with the same resultant AFR mixture. The larger surface area of the bigger intercooler will also help counteract decreases in performance on higher temperature days. Sometimes they will increase power & torque, but it depends on what the car is used for & how we tune it. And upgraded intercooler is great for providing extra efficiency to the engine, especially when the engine is under load when towing.
With the extra power & torque that we will achieve with a custom dyno tune, you will not have to apply the throttle as much anymore in order to get your vehicle to move as much as you did prior to the tune. It will be able to be driven with less throttle & less RPM in the driving cycle to achieve the same result (because torque will be now produced earlier in the RPM range due to the tune). So, for example, you may have been driving it at 100% throttle pressure (foot to the floor) to get it to go up hill properly when towing, but now (after we've tuned it) you will only need 50% throttle pressure to get up the hill - and the vehicle should also stay in the higher gear too instead of kicking down. Therefore, the less pressure on the throttle; the longer it'll stay in a higher gear & the less the engine will now rev; therefore less fuel will be injected into the engine & consumed to achieve the same result of getting up the hill, prior to the tune. Less engine revs due to the extra power from the tune (higher gear, less effort to tow a caravan etc.), uses less fuel. This also happens without towing too, same thing.
How is the clutch on these with handling more power? And how does the Auto ‘box cope with a tune as well? Keen to hear UDT’s thoughts on a manual vs auto in a triton, especially when more power is involved.
warranty is fine mate! Under consumer law, a dealership or manufacturer cannot void the warranty of a vehicle due to a custom dyno tune having been carried out. It is illegal for them to do that. However, if there is an issue with the engine, then they can refuse the warranty, but only if they can prove with sufficient evidence that the tune caused the failure. We also have our own warranty & most of the vehicles that we custom dyno tune are still under new car warranty with no issues related to tuning. We still tune all engines within the factory safety parameters set by the manufacturer.
What is your warranty period for a tune. What happens if the engine poops itself in 4 years time because it's power has been increased and prematurely wore out components. Surely its pretty easy for Mitsubishi to say exactly that. Have you had warranty claims? What happened?
that can & does happen with standard vehicles too. If something is going to happen with our tuning, it will happen literally straight away. Out of the ten thousand or more vehicles that we have custom dyno tuned, this has happened to a small handful (a dozen at the most) & if it was deemed to be our fault, then we have covered it in the past.
Is this in anyway more dangerous for the vehicle? Why wouldn't they just tune it from factory like this if it wasn't? Does a tuned engine require servicing more often also please? Been watching a load of your videos and it seems like the route I would like to go on my Triton, but just query if it would decrease reliability over the long run
No not at all. We improve on the factory tune as the factory tune is generic, whereas we full-on custom tune the factory ECU to suit what the vehicle is used for, how much extra weight it has onboard and what the customer's requests for the tune are. We still tune within the engine's safety parameters, which are set by the manufacturer.
@@UltimateDieselTuning I have been looking through the T&C info for the Triton and its is pretty vague about what would void the warranty. Are you guys an approved by them to do this work and/or is it within the warranty guidelines?
