Hey, I just came to your profile and wanted to thank you for these videos. It helped me to not feeling like I'm on the death point with my career. I have so many thoughts and this video helped me to organize it a little and I'm really glad I found you.
I landed on your videos by looking for a clip for my UA-cam channel 😊 very helpful information. Im struggling with what I should do. My passion is UA-cam videos, helping students (I'm a former youth pastor), bushcraft camping. Im currently doing RV Transport which gives me freedom to do the other, however the truck and slow economy is putting the brakes on. Im not sure what to do to reach my goal of a non-profit helping students navigate life through bushcraft camping.
Thank you so much for this video Iris! This is a mindset I’d been in when finding a major in college & I’d asked myself these questions so intuitively. When I started my first job post-grad, I felt quite lost and disconnected from my intuition. You’ve definitely helped guide my thinking in the right direction again to find a new, more fulfilling avenue. Thank you!
Thanks for watching! Now set 5 - 10 mins apart to answers those questions, and do that brainstorm! If you found it helpful, pls leave an emoji in the comments that best describes how you feel right now! And if you know of anyone who'll benefit from watching this video, make sure you share it with them 😊
Brainstorming was an interesting experience, it helped me disconnect from negative thoughts about what I don't like about the present and focus on something else. The question about finding a need in the market is difficult for me. Is there any way to restate it? I feel that the market has too many things already
Hi Iris! I think I have an idea of a passion I'd like to work with, but I can't think of a career with it, there are barely any companies doing it. What I love right now is helping young people create their careers in a very practical way. Do you know how I could go about this as a career? I do want to be an entrepreneur, but that takes time and I really need to have a stable job first
What is your advice if one has various jobs in different fields and broad education? Most hr prefer specialists but how to get a chance with that broad combination 😢.
Start by exploring these various jobs and different fields - you could connect and speak with people who do these kind of jobs, join new networks, seek educational opportunities (an online course could be a great starting point), or start a side project. The main goal is to learn more about these jobs and fields of work, as the reality is often different to what we might expect.
Hey Iris, thanks for the informative video. I have 6+ years of experience in the hotel industry (concierge service and reservations). I'm pretty much interested in learning English (it's not my native language) and a little bit in the fitness industry. I've tried to combine the experience (hotel) and passion (English) and tried to apply for positions such as sales manager for a language school, and even fitness centers. But... No success. Feeling extremely stuck in a dead end position as a reservation agent.
@@IrisSmyth Oh Iris, thank you for your reply LOL I have thought about it, but I don't have so many strong passions. I've been laid off in January :( and still don't know job I want, feeling scared of making the wrong decision
@@mynameistimur sorry to hear you've been laid off. On feeling scared of making the wrong decision: remember that not making a decision is essentially also making a decision (just not pro-active)...
what if you don’t care about anything?
Lol
That’s called depression

Have you thought about doing something for yourself (on the side, perhaps!)? A side/passion project to build your skills & network?
