This was between season 5 and season 7 - depending on how far ahead the movie was shot.
It's a lower budget movie, so Topher Grace probably just fit it in when they weren't filming 70's show.
As someone else mentioned, he was busy shooting Spiderman 3 as Venom during season 8. A movie like that has way more time commitment compared to this.

I watched this film in 2016. This film taught me the Real value of Love, Friendship & a Bond that we make for life. Even though this film is a copy/unofficial remake of a Bollywood Cult Classic film named "RANGEELA" which was made in the year 1995, this film is a "MASTERPIECE" that today's Hollywood films are unable to generate. I seriously miss these Good Old Days! I hope that 1 day, I will definitely get to watch 1 Cult Classic in this time i.e 2019! Love from India ❤️ 🇮🇳 !
