That’ll probably be a dramatic entrance against Goku because in the movie that’s what triggered him to go LSSJ, so it wouldn’t make since for him to do it against say Android 16 for example.

Well, the game tries to be competitive. So you can't really give him armor moves, grabs and high damage without severely reducing his movement speed (which would be really bad in this game). And they've apparently noticed this was a huge problem with Android 16

carlos conde I don't think his walk speed is slow. I think he's as fast as everyone else, but his huge size makes him look slower. And no one walks anyway in this game

I think it might be going underlooked that most of Broly's normals are big(Except for 2H, apparently) and he has access to armored normals and specials, including a fullscreen one AND Command Grabs. He might have little combo potential and meh damage, but I'm betting he'll be a monster at neutral. I think he has what it takes to be a great character.
We'll have to see how 16 will behave after the nerfs, because he, apparently, is Broly's biggest competition.
He can also do an alternate version of his Level 3 by using R2 instead of R1, where the Projectile moves much slower and is much smaller but has a bigger explosion and seems to do more damage. It's mostly used for set-up on new combos but essentially allows for some high unscaled damage combo resets
hopefully by the time Broly officially comes out they'll tweak his damage just a little.

adjusting the damage itself isn't that hard and with the knowledge that they got from max and other people, i don't doubt that they can tweak him a little before or some week after the release.
He should not be reliant so on assists to get more than 1 damage. If the rest of your team dies, he would be completely useless. I would not be surprised if everyone rage quits when thats the last character on their team., I hate rage quitters and if I pick him up and he cant do shit by himself I'll rage quit 100% of the time because its already over when hes the last person on my team. I understand his armor has lots of potential, but not when he gets 1 damage for every attack. My disappointment is immeasurable at the moment lol.

I was about to say "Define personality", but then I remembered Jiren exists to show us what a TRULY awful Dragon Ball villain is.
Jiren isnt a vilain though. And you do have a bit more personality there in jiren even if its not explored in depth then you ever had in Broly in a full movie. Just saying.
I dunno, what we got from Jiren towards the end of the T.o.P. sounded villainous to me. His ideal of power being absolute, using the Pride Troopers to further his own goals, trying to murder Goku's friends in the bleachers... it's all villainous stuff, and we haven't really seen him do enough good/neutral actions to justify him as an antagonist and not a villain.
A better example of a DB not-villain antagonist is Battle of Gods Beerus and Hit. Beerus in BoG was interested in fighting Goku because he was bored. And while he was very temperamental, he was polite, enjoyed partying with the Earthlings, and apologized for acting up and hitting Bulma at the end. He didn't do anything particularly evil aside from trying to destroy Earth, which is his right to do as the God of Destruction, even if it is for a petty reason.
Hit, meanwhile, is just a straight-up better version of Jiren. They're both stoic and silent until the end, where they prove to have both incredible power and a unique gimmick (Jiren's UI, Hit's Time Skip). But Hit is already portrayed as being more antagonistic seeing as his profession is "Assassin", and the best in the universe at it, too. He also gets some characterization about half-way through the Tourney when he stops Frost from stealing the treasure. And all of this was in a dramatically shorter arc.
What does Jiren get in a substantially longer tourney? He does absolutely nothing until the end besides knocking Kale out and beating Hit, both times he either said nothing or spat out the most generic dialogue possible. And when he DOES get something after Toppo's beaten, he's berating his comrades, tries to kill Goku's friends, ranting about his stupid ideals on power, gets a terrible, generic backstory,spitting out even more generic dialogue, and so-forth. He's now a villain and a pretty friggin' bad one at that.

So broly is an 'armored initator'. If the opponent is mashing buttons too hard, you can get an easy initiation using an armored lariat strike, then combo into another characters lvl 1.
Alternatively, if there are 3 bars spare, that lvl 3 seems to do a lot of damage, with a lot of screen coverage.
Broly doesn’t seem nearly as good as I was hoping.

Seriously though what’s the problem? Broly obviously has his strengths and weaknesses like every other character. If he’s as bad as you say he is then I’m sure they’ll give him a little boost to make up for it. But from what I’ve seen he doesn’t seem ‘bad’. He’s definitely not overpowered but I don’t think he’s a joke or anything...

Sad to see one of the most fearsome enemies of DB is mechanically looking like a low-tier. He visually LOOKS fantastic though! All of his moves have awesome grandeur and intensity; if only he had the mechanics and stats to match . . .
So this guy is all about getting you in the corner cause he has such a good advantage state there and getting you back in the corner if you are trying to escape.

From what I remember from Broly in that one movie. He did just have everyone against the wall and beat the crap out of them or else they were sent flying across the world. Either they made his combos more focused in the corners because of a reference to that movie or he isn't quite finished yet.

Broly's *Eraser Cannon* reminds me of Iron man's *Proton Cannon* because of how it chucks the opponent up into the air in the way of the projectiles' direction.

I noticed from other videos that since his super is slow, it allows you to continue combos after landing a assist lvl 1 with his. So swap combo potential is pretty huge with him.

I mean he has armor which makes you lose trades or trying to counter hit him and a shield that protects him from projectile and beam attacks.
He seems like a charakter you really have to respect in neutral and if he advances because of this and that could make him pretty dangerous.

Broly's official character card has his power at MAXIMUM level and he hits like a wet noodle without any assists. The game play previews & official Bandai statements are in a literal contradiction. I'm hoping it's just an early build that's being played.

That does seem low for 3 bars. I can do 60% with 1 bar on 16, and out right kill someone with Tien for 5.
Soo why don't people think Nappa is good in this game?
Despite his weaknesses, all that has done is make me want to play him more. I have weirdly gravitated to characters with abnormal or assist dependent combo strings and he seems to be the niche I am missing.
Plus he is my second favorite villain in Dragon Ball next to Frieza.

Im very confused. Why would they create this massive tank with very technical and limited offence and not up the damage? HIT is pretty technical and does a lot of dmg so its not like this is a foreign concept. Wouldnt that makes sense or do all goku clones need to be top tier?

Its VERY clear they were looking to avoid another android 16 situation, where you have a character with armor on all the things they're going to be doing a lot, AND has a truckload of damage. The justification of "BUT THATS WHAT BROLY SHOULD BE DOING" isn't really an argument that maintains a balance in the game.
16 is getting a nerf specifically to address his damage output to coincide with the problems he created, so making Broly like the stock 16 would just... Raise the problems that they're trying to put to bed. What they SHOULD do is give him a level 1 super that initiates a mode that drains the gauge over time, during this mode Broly would have perpetual armor, and be immune to grapples. Cinematic moves still take place, but Broly is unaffected by forced movement and the drain on his gauge pauses during them, resuming once they're finished. The mode would last until the meter was gone, until he switched out, or until he dies.
THIS would make Broly the frightening, blockbuster, brick shit house people want without making him straight up busted. He would become a character that you use to, basically, force your opponent to waste resources on taking out as soon as possible, because with 7 gauges worth of "YOU CANT STOP ME" he could body an entire team.
Heimskr, Prophet of Talos dude u make great point in your comments I think there nerf of 16 is a little rushed I mean it's more about the resets he can do that takes so much damage the constant grab and dunk if he gets 2 or 3 of those goodnight for that character but he has weaknesses u can get around so he not invincible just don't let him grab u.i wonder if they will nerf the ground because when u hit the ground u can block and that makes for more shitty setup

What if Broly is supposed to be this way because he’s a bull in a china shop. If they gave him power in exchange for slower move sets, it wouldn’t fit his character well. He’s about inducing panic with armored, flashy, relentless attacks. At least in my opinion that’s how I see him.

Except no player is gonna panic when broly can't fucking do anything useful. If it were like... Say Eliza from Skullgirls or Dio where he basically had a super that put him in a state where no character could stop him from doing what he wants to do, say, a level 1 that toggles a state of armor that persists until the gauge is empty or he switches out, then he might be truly terrifying. Sure, he wouldn't be doing much but there would be no way to stop him from doing what he wants to do short of dealing enough damage to take him out.
At that point Broly eould be in a place where he's that anchor people are looking for, he can be that monster that makes your opponent blow meter just to stop him from bulldozing the whole team without losing his weaknesses.
But they'll never do that, since that makes sense for his character and would be seen as EXTREMELY OP by people who don't know how to deal with him.
