i was looking how to do this my self, and even contacted godaddy support asking on how to do the final step of this of pointing my ip address to my domain name. after almost an hour of waiting on the "tech" to reply back with an answer i found it in this 14 minute video. thank you!
what about NS record do we have to update it on domain provider or just updating the A record will work.

I have set up a firewall using ipfire. I have obtained a public IP from my ISP. I have setup a red zone with the public IP, a green zone, and a orange zone(DMZ). I have a webserver on my orange zone which is using a local IP. I am having trouble figuring out how to link my domain to the public IP of the red zone then route it to my local IP for the webserver.
In the video, the way to point the domain is using A Record.
I have a nameserver that points to my web server. My web server uses xampp (without any configuration, just install and finish). I've tried to access the nameservers via the browser and it worked. How do I point my domain to my web server using these nameserver? i'am not possible to use A Record because my ip public is dynamic, but i have that nameserver which can point automaticaly to my web server address.

how did you setup your domain?, for me it automatically changes the url to the IP adress of my server
I finished all the steps but I still get the error "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT" and nothing shown in access.log of the server. Is there additional steps perhaphs after setting the IP address?

If I may ask... What ISP are you using? Did GoDaddy ask for your IPs DNS servers? Also... Many ISPs don't offer a static IPs... they give you dynamically addressed IP address over a longer period of time. Because of this, dynamic DNS is often used. Have you ran into any of this and if so, how would you adapt your technique to this?

Did you updated also your nameservers on Godaddy or only DNS Records? Also, do you need to buy from somebody the domain name or you can own it?

Hey Man, Thank you for such a informative tutorial, I am still having problem with this, I tried to configure "hosts" file and when I am trying to access website using NAME within the server- it is working properly, but if I try to access from another device which is connected to same wifi connection (local area network)- I am not able to access, however when I try to access using local IP - it is working fine. Any suggestions on that ??
@@gains77 Thank you for this suggestions, I tried and it worked on my workstation (Windows OS) but still my concern is "is there any way I can avoid editing hosts file and able to access website by domain name instead of Local-IP" just wondering if there is any solution I would love to take advantage of it and implement.
PS: One of my professor suggested me to used local hosted DNS server which is completely another level of understanding for me, however willing to learn if it will work.

This needs a little more research, can't tell if there are mistakes or outdated methods.
The first part doesn't work making the rest not work.
