- Fellow Legends, welcome! Today we delve into the madness that is Insurgency: Sandstorm. A game which I found I did not own and upon completion of this video went and purchased on Steam. This is the FPS experience I have been missing since my Xbox 360 days, and I love that TheRussianBadger did a piece on this because I would never have known it was this good otherwise. Accurate
So the Welrod is a very real and very rare gun. It was made during WWII for the British SOE and commandos. It’s also integrally suppressed and is one of the only guns to be as quiet as Hollywood thinks suppressors are. However the suppressor is only quiet for like 15 rounds because it uses rubber baffles in the suppressor to reduce the noise but Those baffles wear out with every shot until they’re useless after like 15 rounds.
It's also present in other games like the sniper elite series as a somewhat basic pistol that is pretty good for some stealthy cqc

My grandfather had the unfortunate situation where he had to test out a prototype version. America and Britain post WW2 had a line of modified guns with special modifications to test. Basically to see if the weapon can be made better before making a new gun.
The Welrod and M1 Grand were both made full auto, larger clip size, and external silencers.
They worked and failed all the time. My grandfather got more Injuries from test firing these guns than when he fought and killed Nazis.
The dumbest thing he tested out was a belt fed M1 Grand with full auto, speed of 800 rounds per minute. It alway jammed or missed fired or exploded around round 20.

This game is so much fun when most of the lobby has mics, I had a game where my both teams were just memeing one guy was talking in a southern accent saying get the fuck in there with 50 bmgs and magnums one was doing a different version of house keeping, I was quoting russian badger, and it ended with a big laugh from both sides and ggs
If Badger and Max0r met the universe would end immediately, good thing their interactions are suppressed via the disconnect of cameo appearances.

Revolver bipod was a real thing. If I remember right, it was from like French or German police special forces. It was used in place of a rifle for sniping because the flatter bullet wouldn't penetrate the target and go on to hit any hostages.
And yes, I did say it was for sniping, which means it came packaged with a scope, which is also in the game

So, the story of the GA/U-8 having enough recoil to stall the A-10 isn't exactly true. The Avenger's recoil is actually around 44.5kN of force, while a single engine on the A-10 is around 41kN of thrust. *However,* the exhaust from the weapon can starve the engines of oxygen, stalling the plane. This is why when the trigger is pulled, the trigger also rapidly hits the ignitor, restarting the engines just in case.
Edit: the GA/U-8 Avenger produces 44.5 kilonewtons of force, not 43kN.
I mean look up the story of the Mig-27 that was armed with an autocannon with so much RECOIL that it threatened to shake the plane apart with sustained fire.

So I have a story of how I got into a game with my buddies on insurgency sandstorm where one of them started singing bohemian rhapsody and it's so hard to play when the entire fucking lobby is singing it and trying to kill each other? I couldn't breath I was laughing so hard
I would have immediately started singing "Don't stop me now" as soon as rhapsody ended
Insurgency is great. I don't have a lot of time in PVP but PVE is amazing, and when people do have mics it's usually either extreme milsim callout guys or someone missing their frontal lobe. Definitely one of the best shooters I've ever played. It's seemed to have found a good blend of milsim/arcade shooter, where you're not walking half an hour only to get got by Billy in a tree from 1km away. It's definitely got its issues, but I love it

The Rocket Launcher we saw in the video is a Carl Gustav (Sweedish Recoilless Rifle) and as for Panzerfäust and Panzerschreck both existed, the Panzerfäust was the rocket in a tube that you had to discard after use whereas the Panzerschreck is an arguably slightly more powerful M2 Bazooka due to the increased diameter of the rockets but was heavier compared the M2 (20 pounds (24 with shield) while unloaded vs the M2's 13 pounds while unloaded)

The panzerfaust is a disposable anti tank grenade launcher wich were usualy used for ambushes at close range. (It's basicaly a tube with a push lever as a triger that shoot shaped charges up to 60 meters, but most often they used it when they were right besides the fucking tank)
That thing didn't cost shit to produce and is basicaly the ancestor of the M72 LAW, wich uses the same concept of disposable anti tank weapons
On the other hand, the panzershrek is basicaly a more terrifying upgrade of the bazooka. It shoots 88mm rockets while the bazooka shoots 60mm rockets (89mm rockets on later variants)
There is something you would describe as a 2 or 1 gauge. It was the size of a tank barrel and had to be fired either on the ground or laid out on a boat. It was used for duck hunting, as in they aimed it at a bunch of ducks together and killed them all in one shot. It had to banned because it worked so well that there was concern continued use would cause some species to go extinct.

Speaking of 'using shotguns as snipers and snipers as shotguns', I played warface for a bit and I frequently played as a medic. I got proficient enough with, I think, a mateba auto-revolver with a red dot sight and I got to the point that I was able to dink snipers from 200 meters with 2 rounds each time. Whats sad about it is I was able to be more accurate and faster than some other players who were rifleman or snipers.
I can only imagine how humiliating it would be to be a class with an actual primary, and a medic with a revolver with a red-dot on it just does your job for you and its done faster.

When the A-10 was being developed they designed the gun first and then designed the plane around it, and during the prototype phase the power of gun kept causing the aircraft to start falling because it literally stops the plane. So whenever pilots start being taught how to use the A-10 they're always told that the only way they can fire the gun is by pushing their engines and dividing towards the earth because that's the best way they can use it.

Good luck winning CQC against a guy with a 100-pound metal bar, and good luck defending against that MONSTER of a round, no matter WHAT your armor plating is, from tanks to bunkers.
The best part? The ATF gave it a Hunting Exemption as a joke, meaning it is legal in america to own one as a civillian.

28:48 not exactly, usually the market is very volatile in terms of what becomes cheap and what gets driven up in price. if 5.56 were to be phased out of the military entirely it would likely jump up a bit in price because the biggest supply we usually have is military surplus, and the less manufacturers we have making ammo for the military the smaller that supply will get, though it likely won't kill the round, it could jump up like 30 cents but with so many 5.56 owners in the states we could theoretically be mostly fine.
in fact side note: the new 6.8x51 is expected to be more common in the coming years because of the new ngsw we are getting, more military demand = more manufacturers making 277 fury = more surplus and conventional commercial options. however another way for rounds to go down in price is if more cheapo companies start making guns that use em. PSA is releasing a 5.7 handgun and that is expected to REALLY help drive down the price of the round by making it more common.
TLDR: Nato Standard (Stanag) is one of the biggest factors in ammo prices.

I looked it up. It is a complete misconception that sustained fire of the A-10's GAU-8 Avenger Cannon will cause the plane to fall out of the sky due to recoil. The A-10 is specifically designed to maintain altitude while firing the GAU-8. However, something that is not a misconception is how effective the A-10 is at taking down tanks

The forward assist on the AR platform is not to clear jams is to help close the bolt all the way if for any reason the bolt gets stuck in the process of rechambering a round. Best way to think about it is you tapping the back of your slide because it won't go all the way forward.
The way shotgun gauge works. Take 1 pound of lead. Cut it into a number of equal chunks. Form those chunks into spheres. The size of that sphere is the size of the bore for the gauge number of how many chunks you cut it into. 4 gauge is a quarter pounder of LEAD if it was a sphere, and most shotgun rounds have significantly more lead than that.

The A10 doesn't just lose lift when it fires, it loses airflow to the engines, so they stall and it loses thrust, then it loses lift. To counter this they limited the duration of its burst and programmed the starter motor to kick in when the burst ends to keep the engines running.
A-10 gun, GAU-8 have around 41kN of recoil energy. When it's angines produce 40.3kN of Energy each. So theoretically it can stall itself out of the sky with recoil, but practically almost impossible if plane working fine.
12:22 the same kinda applies to me I am the LAST person you want on a stealth mission however I am the first person you want when a stealth mission goes sideways mostly because I’m so used to everything being FUBAR that I know how to recover case in point me playing Sniper Elite 5 I may be running suppressed rounds with suppressors on all my guns but I will still find a way to blow and then regain concealment

The A-10's recoil alone isnt enough to stall the aircraft..it's when all the gas from the gun being fired get into the engine that it chokes them out... "The GAU-8 produces a prodigious amount of exhaust gas when firing. Exhaust gasses from firing did lead to engine stalls in developmental airframes" That's why pilots are trained for BURSTS of fire, not the "the whole 9 yards" of ammunition.

So about that .44 Magunum revolver? That's the French Manurhin MR-73. The best part? In real life, there's a configuration where it's fitted with a longer barrel, a bipod as seen here and a sniper scope. I'm not making this up, this is real.
Note: There's dismemberment in this game, but for what I assume to be monetisation, Bajur turned it off. So if you shoot at someone with a .50 BMG outta an M82 or 7.62 NATO outta THE MG3 or any shotgun for that matter, not only is that poor sod ragdolling at Mach Jesus, but his head's probably gone, or his arm's separated a few meters away.

32:00 if played all types of multiplayer games from standard pvp to running mega tribes in ark for nearly 2 years. But the best experience I’ve every had in multiplayer was The Division Xbox 360 forced game chat dark zone runs.
That shit was easily the most fun I’ve ever had. Everything from low lvl hyper intense rogue runs escaping to DZ09 to pulling the whole lobby to a military outpost to do exercise drills. The best online experience I’ve ever had. I truely wished game companies would stop being pussies and bring back forced gc that was the bar
