  • In the United Kingdom, British instructors train their Ukrainian counterparts for urban combat. Those, in turn, upon returning home, will pass on these skills to the soldiers of their armed forces and territorial defense. Details are in the material.

      @@sticky59 On the contrary, they do now (and will continue to do so in the future, in greater numbers once Ukraine can spare them). FYI non-NATO, UK-allied personnel are regular guests and seconded-colleagues in British military training establishments.
      The thing that a Russky-Mir, Vatnik can probably never really understand or appreciate is that the British Army strives to actually be the best, rather than be content with government ideology and propaganda saying it is.
      It is expected that the instructors will learn too, to become better at training others... and for that purpose having Ukrainian 'graduates' return as translators (as well as for 'training to be instructors' themselves) is normal. It provides useful feedback to improve the training given. Including to British personnel (who are now going to hear all about Ukrainian soldiers' experiences of fighting the Russians).
      That's the whole NATO thing... be open to change 'what works' according to new developments and the latest experiences. The USSR's WWII allies have done their best to avoid repeating the mistake of planning to fight your next war according to the last one went. The Russian Federation... not just not so much, but evidently hardly at all since the Cold War ended.

    • @sticky59

      @@jajabez8379 NATO cannot train Ukr's to fight effectively in Ukraine ..... 8 years have shown that. There are articles and reports on the subject. There is enough data now after 10 months that shows that Russia can handle what NATO throws at it. The British have just had a special forces reported on conducting missions in Ukraine. They are obviously not a game changer .... like the Patriot missile .... lots of hype .... and little else, as the middle east reports showed.
      The plain facts of the matter show Ukraine is running out of battle ready troops and working weaponry. It is only a matter of time.

    It's good to hear that GB moved on from having Polish pilots (them posessing the most superior skills in their job) ride bicycles in circles as military training during WWII to that... Just hoping British government will also come up with something wiser than selling their Eastern-European allies to Russia, like it did in Jalta once upon a time, and not inviting the former to the state celebrations of the end of the war either...

    • @jajabez8379
      @jajabez8379 Рік тому

      Vatnik alert. The British Army's WWI 'Royal Flying Corps' (that became the separate Royal Air Force) did use bicycles in pilot-training, in order to teach formation-flying on the ground (in 2D, when you could shout at each other) before trying it in the air (in 3D, when the lack of radio-coms meant you couldn't). Not so stupid if you think about it.
      In 1940, the Free-Polish fighter pilots (and others joining the RAF as already-serving exiles from 'defeated' countries) were put into training on the frontline, best-available British fighter-aircraft. The famous example of the RAF 303 (Polish) Squadron disobeying their instructor-leader's orders and engaging Luftwaffe targets they had visual contact with is a great story... but ask yourself how much 'contempt' the RAF can really have had for them. They were in Hurricanes, flying fully-armed, in the most active combat zone.
      Sure, they hadn't been put on 'active duty' yet, but obviously that was intended to occur in the near future... and granted that plenty of British RAF veterans attest to the fact that in 1940 the was riddled with idiotic upper-class officers, that instructor-leader was entirely reasonable in not wanting 'loose-cannons' being a mystery-confusion to RAF radar, fighter-control and/or other fighter units actually tasked to intercept.
      And BTW... it's 'Yalta' not 'Jalta' when spelt out in the Latin-Western alphabet, rather than Greek-Cyrillian one Russian uses. What was and wasn't actually agreed there, between whom, in 1945, on what's now occupied Ukrainian territory is another essay.

    Just think, these young men and women are not doing this because they want to, unlike military professionals, but because they have to, in order to defend their right to exist, and to do so in freedom. Bakers, butchers, teachers, labourers, taxi drivers, civil servants, etc. all ready to sacrifice their lives for the country they love. All-in for their children's and grandchildren's futures, for their homeland and identity. Much respect.
    And what the hell are the Russians fighting for? Most of the soldiers (captives) interviewed have said they have no idea what they are doing there. They will lose and will not be forgiven for the atrocities they have and are still committing. Slava Ukraini!!
