Australia also interred Germans and Italians during WW2. My family arrived here shortly after WW2, and were received with open arms. Dad, his sister and mother were German. My grandfather was a Russian Jew who survived as a POW and after WW2 stayed in Germany to be with my grandmother, until immigrating to Australia.
I just came across your review and because of it I added this book along with March to my list of graphic memoirs to pick up. I was wondering have you found any other graphic memoirs that are very good to read. I recommend 1) hey kiddo 2) dragon hoop 3) flamer 4) Big Black: Stand at Attica 5) Commute: An Illustrated Memoir of Female Shame I’m currently illustrating and writing a graphic memoir myself so I’m always on the hunt for any type of research material :-) Keep up the great reviews

Maus is really good, one of my husband's favorites. It is nonfiction, but the characters are done as different types of animals. :)
I just looked into this and wow! thank you for suggesting! I just ordered it from my library!
