      Will take some doing, because I do a lot of titles and such, and there's no built-in titles in the GoStreams, So I'd still need to leverage something external for countdown, lower thirds, social media overlays, and more.

  • @VickersDoorter

    A video progress bar with countdown time would be useful for when cueing in others like sound and lighting etc to return to presenter/talent.

    I had my eye on this OSEE GoStream Duet device. It is a Switcher with many Television Studio type enhancements. Thanks for the through review. Surprised to see it reasonably priced at just under USD $ 400. Already have a BMD ATEM Mini Extreme ISO and 2 YoloBox devices (Pro & Ultra) but would still seruiusly consider buying this as a multi-purpose tool along with a monitoring switch for my operations. It's particularly well featured at this price point, and can be a good sub-switch for the YoloBox, like the ATEM.

    Just bought one of these, already very impressed (I'm very familiar with Tricasters at work, but this is my personal wife-friendly budget). I'd like to see the clip name displayed somewhere when selecting a video to playback. (maybe an option to have a portion of the source filename as the window title rather than Aux?). Maybe a few tiny UI tweaks like holding down buttons to stop recording or streaming to prevent an accident. Double-tap pause to re-cue current source clip would be nice too.

    I have a couple of ATEM Extremes and a couple of OSEEs (Duet and the HDMI) The OSEE is by far the nicer device to use. Biggest plusses - ability to play back videos and to copy and paste URLs and passkeys. None of this .xml bollocks. The flexibility of both SDI and HDMI on the OSEE Duet just wins hands down.

    Cool idea
    However how many people that have cameras with SDI outputs are gonna buy a $400 switcher.

    • @StreamTeknology
      @StreamTeknology  2 місяці тому

      A lot, because you can always add it as part of an existing setup, and it's the only $400 solution with BOTH connections SDI and HDMI.
      So if you have a camera with SDI you need to run long cables to, but just a 2 camera and a laptop stream, the Duet is all you need without any external adapters. Simplicity sells.

    Hello,
    Thanks for the video.
    It is a device that I find very interesting, but I have a couple of doubts that I do not know if someone can solve me.
    The first one is if it can be powered with a powerbank.
    The second is why you can not directly use a web overlay or URL overlay on the device. Like for example the UNO Overlays. Is there any limitation of this kind of devices?
    Thank you.

    • @StreamTeknology
      @StreamTeknology  2 місяці тому +1

      Yes on the powerbank, as long as it's 12v, 2A.
      As to URL web graphics, not as far as I know, right now.
      Maybe a future update down the road, but I'm just a reviewer so I have no idea what future plans for this might be.

    • @StreamTeknology
      @StreamTeknology  Місяць тому

      I don't know. - I don't know because no client of mine has requested 4K streaming, let alone 4K and HDR. So I've not had the need to investigate and solve for carrying 4K HDR all the way through to the viewer.

      @RolandsZeltins Місяць тому

      @@StreamTeknology I have had recently few ask about HDR Livestreaming, and I want to be Future prof with 4k.
      As I understand, OSEE GoStream Duet supports only 1080p, INPUT/OUTPUT/LIVESTREAMING?

    • @StreamTeknology
      @StreamTeknology  Місяць тому

      @@RolandsZeltins HDR livestreaming is valuable for those you can ensure have the ability to view it in HDR. Is this like a closed-circuit broadcast where you know the viewing audience and can control the systems being used for playback?
      Otherwise, there's a lot of variables - does the switcher handle HDR, which flavors? Is it supported through the codec used to send the stream? Does the CDN support it if it's recompressed into a different codec? Is it properly flagged through the whole chain? Does the playing device (Rok? Tablet? Computer and screen?) properly display the flagged HDR? Is it being watched in an environment that will benefit from HDR content (living rooms, theatres)? if so, then the process of finding each of those components that do this will be your starting point, before testing.

      @@StreamTeknology sorry for the confusion.
      In the review you said something like, "It says this input is a powered Mic Input, but it didn't power my mic."
      I was saying, is the Power they are providing for a Lavalier Mic. When I looked it up there is a power specification that is not "Phantom Power" for Lavalier Mics. Now that I am trying to find it I am not finding it unfortunately.
      I thought it was like 5V versus Phantom with is much higher I think 48V.

      @@StreamTeknology found it.
      From the interwebs
      Electret Lavalier Microphones require power to operate. When a lavalier microphone is connected to a wireless transmitter, that transmitter provides power (usually 1.5VDC to 5VDC) to the lavalier for it to work.
