I hope it was fantastic! I've loved WT for many years, but I also really hate crowds... so I've actually only been to two concerts in my life (at age 34) because I just hate all the people... But one of those two was World's Collide. Do not regret.

Those are the more recent eras, they have a very diversity of influences, sound and plots in all their musical career.
Right? I think this song could have perfectly been included in THOE! I hope they keep making more songs like this because 1997-2007 was their best era, in my opinion. I miss the sound and aesthetics of the four albums they released in their first decade of life as a band. 🖤🎸

I don't think WT has ever made a bad song, and this just further proves that. This song is amazing.
Yes, ceartinly they always try to be different in each album and they don't have a loss of quality instead some songs are destinated to be singles and they are more commercial. It happened also in Mike Oldfield's works, he used to compose albums with radio hits like Moonlight Shadow or Family Man which are commercial but really good songs.

I feel these lyrics in my bones. I suffer from several chronic illnesses and I've been "prayed for" against my will, and given harmful advice that just feels like having salt rubbed into my wounds. Love this song, and the vocals are fire!

Sharon, and Within Temptation, are simply one of the greatest bands out there. This one cuts right to the core, end of the world urgency, triumph in the face of defeat, the only way forward is to jump off the cliff and rise. Transcendance in the abyss of chaos.
WT has been one of my favorite bands since I was a teen. I'm in my 30s now and i still love them just as much! I enjoy the way they're always evolving.

In love with this song. Within Temptation has been my fave band for 17 years and the thing I love the most about them is the bravery the have, because they don't play safe, they face challenges and risks everythime discovering and adding new elements in their sound without losing quality. Many people whines a lot cause of it, but this is the real charm WT has, you'll never know what to expect and that is priceless🔥🔥🔥

Good tune. Depressing lyrics. Love this band, but as a Christian, I will continue to pray for them. I hope for nothing but the best for WT. I pray not to force my beliefs onto others, but out of love and concern for those I care about. Don't see anything hurtful about that.
There is nothing hurtful about genuine prayers, that I agree. But I have met many people in my country where some religious communities commit injustice but are covered because they are "religious" and if anyone exposes them, they would say "You are blind. We will pray for you. We are the good. You shall become one of us." and gave prayers a different meaning other than genuine care and love. It is really sad actually. And I think the song talks about that rather than heartfelt prayers.
It’s not hurtful to pray for others to be happy, healthy, and safe. But this song is about not respecting others differences and praying for them only to see things the same way you do-like the harmful “pray the gay away” rhetoric.

"I'm not lost in the dark/I'm not blind to what I see" -> people who only pray for you so you'll "see the light" aka come around to their way of thinking because if you're not the same as them, you must be wrong
"I don't need your absolution, so don't hold that sword over me" -> essentially people who try to make you feel guilty and wrong just so they can say they, or God, will forgive you if you do what they think is right
"for my confessions, I don't need a church" -> I interpret this one to be against people who believe the only way to have a personal relationship with a higher power is through organized religion, or it could also be interpreted as not needing a higher power at all to have a forgiving relationship with yourself
"I don't need salt to know where it hurts" -> talking about rubbing salt in wounds so again, people trying to make you feel guilty and ashamed for being who you are, especially if you're already struggling to accept yourself
"You're trying over and over, denying what I feel" -> this seems as clear as you can get that the song is specifically against people who only pray for you to try and bring you around to their beliefs, even if all you want is to be respected for the way you are

I am in love with this song. I love the intense instruments and powerful vocals, and with the quotes from Cyrano de Bergerac (1950), this song makes my heart hurt in both a good and sad way. Good because the music, vocals and lyrics drive the song and makes be happy, but the reference to my favorite movie, it reminds me that we should not hesitate to make known our love for something or someone, because you never know when it'll be too late. My apologies for the long comment, but all in all, it's such a beautiful masterpiece with smooth instruments, haunting vocals, and beautiful story in the lyrics; this is why I love Within Temptation.
