    Somen Chanpuru,🍜🍳🔥 an Okinawan noodle dish with lots of vegetables is perfect for lunch on hot summer days. ua-cam.com/video/aPL0p-Uo5bY/v-deo.html Lots of bitter melon will refresh your tired body. If you are not a fan of bitter melons, try lettuce, spring onion leaves or bell peppers instead. Adding the moyashi bean sprouts will help to loosen up the somen noodles and also give the dish a pleasant texture. You can also add tofu to make the dish more filling and nutritious. 😄

    Wow, the somen went soft the minute it hit the water.
    I wonder if goya is the inspiration for snozzcumbers. It looks like it.. long green bumpy thing that's bitter. If it wasn't so bumpy you could just peel it, i mean it's weird if the OUTSIDE of something is the part you want to eat, to scoop out the inside instead of just cutting off the outside.. ha.

    Has anyone else ever wondered how that first person to eat some of these foods must have reacted? Like they dug up a bitter melon or onion, took a bite and was like, "BLECH!! But, this'll do," and showed their civilization who then had the same reaction.

    • @RandomSparkles101

      No you would not need to because the whole salt water process is to remove the bitterness from the melon and bell peppers are not bitter.

    Perfect for hot summer days? And this weekend is supposed to be really hot... this must be fate! Thank you very much! I doubt I'll get bitter melon here, so I hope lettuce will work.
    EDIT: Well, I got the Goya and made the dish with it but unfortunately I couldn't eat it. I tried but after the third piece my body started rejecting it and I felt like I had to get it out of my mouth immediately. I really hate bitter food. But the rest of the dish tastes great and I'll make it much more often, just without the Goya.

  • @Shadow9808

    Damn, I wish I understood that text bubble that popped up next to Francis at the start... It's good to see he has a much thicker bed to rest upon while Chef works, though. It must be rough on his legs and back to balance on the stool these days. Moving the subject to the dish, are Somen Noodles another kind made from rice? I haven't heart of them before, plus they look much too thin and don't have the same yellow color yakisoba noodles has and are too thick to be general rice noodles, which as I've seen, are like thin strips of paper.

    • @adbreon
      @adbreon 9 років тому

      Somen are wheat noodles, yakisoba is also a wheat noodle but has additional ingredients which is why the color is different.
