I only listened to my heavy metal music and by chance I found Dreamcatcher while discovering Asian metal. I haven't been able to leave this group for 2 years, I even learned to use Korean apps to vote for them and they win recognition and awards hahaha
Oh shit so you went all the way down! I feel you, bro
Another heavy metal fan here. Never thought I’d be part of a K-pop fandom but there you have it. Do my best to support these girls cause they’re criminally underrated in their home country.
Hahaha. I agree 100%.
Btw, this is the first dreamcatcher MV that you have reacted to that features their complete lineup, with Handong (the girl with blue hair) returning from China.
Dreamcatcher are just built different.
Had the privilege to see them live this September and one thing I can tell you is, you think they are amazing now? Wait if you ever see them live. Been to a lit of shows in my life ( 42 years old ) lots of metal shows, hip hop shows, jazz, folk music, etc. But Dreamcatcher is easy top 3 shows i ever seen ( probably my favorite if in being completely honest )
These ladies are IT.
Odd Eye is such a good song and it grows and grows on you too. If you want to go back to their beginnings, here is their debut Chase Me. Start of the Nightmare series ua-cam.com/video/zihoyz0u_cs/v-deo.html
Thank you so much for the link! 🫡
Hello, is there a way to get to talk you more directly? I am a big fan of Dreamcatcher and a kpop stan for some time. I can get you some good links and explanations of the group. Really nice reaction, keep up the awesome work!@@TRMReacts62812
There's an excellent video out there by Mera called "Dodging Disbandment and Other Extreme Sports: A History of Dreamcatcher" that goes over how Dreamcatcher came to be. It's a little outdated but very informative on the creation of Dreamcatcher and the issues they had to overcome to be where they are today.
Thanks again for the reaction! More Dreamcatcher!
This video has great quality and production, it's like a documentary and covers their first years, I would suggest it too
Mera's video remains the best guide to DC, but if The Real McCoy Reacts wishes to remain unspoiled for the title tracks, but wants to learn about the women of DC, I would instead recommend the "This is ..." series by a fantastic fan editor Insomnicsy here on UA-cam. But Mera's video would be the best for the history of how they came to be DC.
Yes, I totally agree. I also suggested it in a long comment under the Scream video. It covers the first 3 years of Dreamcatcher pretty well including the "Prequel" (MINX). There are some song spoilers in the video but I think that shouldn't be an issue.
Mera's editing is just great including the imaginary/hilarious board discussion ("Give JiU a fu**ing sword.") and the other video snippets added (Game of Thrones scene ..with the Dreamcatcher cover of "Lucky strike" playing in the background)! 🤣
@@scttschlz There are some seconds of the songs in Meras video but I think it's fine. After that yes, then it's Insomnicsy time...for videos about the members or "Spoilcatcher" or ... basically the intro to the chaos that we love. 😂
They have standalone releases before and after this trilogy (Deja Vu before Scream and BEcause after Odd Eye), then they have their first series called Nightmare (songs: Chase Me, Good Night, Fly High, You and I, What, Piri) and their most recent trilogy called Apocalypse (songs: Maison, Vision, Bonvoyage)
Any path you go will be amazing. Or you can also pick any album and listen to it as their b-sides are pretty unique too.
There are "guide" videos that tell you about their songs and each of the girls so you can know them. The one I see most people watching is called "Ultimate Dreamcatcher Guide 2022/2023".
There is also one guide/documentary talking about the story of the group during their first years. You won't learn much about the members personalities or songs with this one, but will learn more about their trajectory and what they had to overcome (the Kpop industry is very hard and competitive). It's called: "Dreamcatcher: Dodging Disbandment and Other Extreme Sports"
should also give Rolling Quartz a look. RQ is a proper korean girl rock band playing their own instruments. also big fans of Dreamcatcher themselves. "Blaze" was their debut song a couple years ago, "Azalea" is one of my fave from them, along with a couple of Dreamcatcher cover songs.
I wanted to suggest Rolling Quartz as well but wait until we see the reaction to Dreamcatcher "Good Night". I don't think we should overwelm him just yet. I think with DC + Babymetal he has enough stuff to go through for the coming month. 😉
By the way I'm going to two concerts of Rolling Quartz in January/February 2024 and I should be able to talk to them for a few seconds. Main question will be "What can we do to make an collab between DC and RQ happen (MV as with AleXa or them together on stage...Good Night would be the easiest to pull off = minimal effort)?". The manager on the tour is the brother of the CEO so I can direct that question also to the management. I'm pretty sure I'm not the first one to ask. We know that they RQ members incl. the management are open for collabs and I think everyone will benefit from it.
your reaction to Dreamcatcher is definitely how i reacted when I learned about this group! I was totally captivated.i only listen to kpop because of them. They are awesome even their personality is so relatable and they are just funny and crazy. Following DC just became a habit 3 years Insomnia (fandom) here! Please support their upcoming album that should be out by next month. The fandom is now anticipating and really excited on what kind of music they will bless humanity this time :D
On April 20, the group earned their first music show win with "Maison" 1,924 days after debut, setting a new record for girl groups for the longest time between debut and first win. most undderated band in kpop scene . i thoght . cool reaction
To quote Peter Dinklage from Game of Thrones: "If you think this is going to have a happy ending, you have not been paying attention." 😉 Dreamcatcher are going a bit into the future here, extrapolating how the world would turn out if we keep doing what we're doing. People can get lost in the world of the Internet and social media and their online personas can take over their life. Dreamcatcher ask us to use our odd eye to see through the lies (on Facebook and others) and don't be fooled by the "plausible lies overshadowed by sweetness". Very deep, as expected. And the song is a banger!
If you want to see them go really heavy, I recommend Endless Night: ua-cam.com/video/wCALuFy2YVI/v-deo.html
If you liked Dreamcatcher you might also like "Rolling Quartz" they are korean rock girl band.
I been seeing suggestions about the dodging disbandment, which is a great video, but be warned that u will here spoilers of their earlier discography. Unless u want to be spoiled but by all means that video is a great video! But if u want to hear their title tracks before the documentary first, "chase me" is Dreamcatcher's official debut song. But as the documentary says, they wasnt Dreamcatcher to begin with, and their concept was different prior.
Have to agree with all the suggestions of the video by Mera called "Dodging Disbandment and Other Extreme Sports: A History of Dreamcatcher". A lot of the other videos focuses either on the music or the members' personality etc. but Mera provide a deep dive into their career history itself and their steady climb from nugu (term used in korea for unknown groups, basically if you bump into them into public, no one will bat an eye or even know who they are) into somewhat mainstream and the video ended (due to the date tht it is made) prior to their continued rise (and some might still argue that they still under-rated in terms of global recognition) in popularity.
Dreamcatcher is a very unique 1 indeed,u either know nothing bout em,or u know everything bout em,before knowing them,i never bought a single music product in my life, now i bought almost all their albums, lightstick, merchandises, special event merchs, online concerts, offline concerts, the whole nine yard lol
have fun exploring more and thank u for the video !!
한국팬입니다 드림캐쳐 반응에 감사드리며 그들은 k-pop 최고의 독보적인 걸그룹입니다
3부작을 끝내셨으면
Odd eye(디스토피아 ver.)도 반응해주시길 바랍니다😊
Sometimes they do songs that could stand on their own, as they their own story, while at the same time mixing parts of lore as a way of reminding the listener that it is unmistakably Dreamcatcher. This one, as you mentioned, is part of a larger story. The Dystopian Trilogy, comprised of 'Scream,' 'Boca,' and 'Odd Eye' is one that addresses the issue of bullying, cyberbullying in particular. In 'Scream' the lyrics are from the perspective of the victim, asking why they are being subjected to such cruelty, evil and terrible things be told to them online hidden behind the 'mask' of their keyboards. In 'Boca' the lyrics are from the perspective of the guardians who seek to protect them, doing all that they can, no matter what, to shut the mouths of those who spew such vitriol. 'Odd Eye' is the culmination of what happens when people become so absorbed with what worth they can find online and retreat away from their real world lives before realizing that none of it was real. The tree, that looks so beautiful and a fixture of nature, was nothing more than an illusion. In reality it was a synthetic one, plugged into wires and cables to keep it alive. Hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil. By the end of 'Odd Eye' it's all falling apart, like reality is collapsing in on itself. But it never was reality. After all the blood and sweat and tears there was nothing there.
For learning about the group's backstory, I recommend a video called 'Dodging Disbandment and Other Extreme Sports'. For learning about the members' personalities & a bit about their individual talent, I recommend the Dreamcatcher 'Ultimate 2021/2022 Guide'.
I’ll second that recommendation it is highly informative and does it’s best to dodge negativity.
I love how you are reacting to these ladies, I have been following them since they debut. In my opinion they do not have a bad song , your fellow Insomniac.👍👍
Their music change over the time based on their Lore/ Universe. 1st Lore they focus on J-Rock & 'Dreamcatcher Genre', 2nd Lore more to Rock & EDM hybrid, 3rd Lore they focus on Experimental Rock.
So far Dreamcatcher have 3 main Lore/ Universe.
- Nightmare Series (Tracks: Chase Me, Good Night, Fly High, You And I, What, Piri < ending > and Japanese track 'Breaking Out' < alternate ending >)
- Dystopia Trilogy (Scream, Boca, Odd Eye)
- Apocalypse Trilogy (Maison, Vision, Bonvoyage)
❤😂 I'd recommend either the next triligy (Maison, Vision, Bonvoyage) or a few of the collaborations (DeJa Vu, Roseblue) next. The first series is a longer one (maybe 7 MV or more, starts with their debut with Chase Me).
I saw a few other people recommended the video by Mera called "Dodging Disbandment and Other Extreme Sports: A History of Dreamcatcher". This is a great video that sums up their time as Minx and what led to them becoming Dreamcatcher, so I'll throw in my recommendation for that video as well. It is pretty old and only has information up to right before Scream came out in 2020 though.
There are some other guides that are more group/member focused that are really good. My favorite is The Ultimate 2021/2022 Dreamcatcher guide by Dreamworld. It's a little older now, as it doesn't have any of the Apocalypse trilogy tracks but it's still one of the most comprehensive guides around. It also takes time to introduce you to each member and discuss the dynamics of the group as a whole. Where Mera's video is more of a history lesson about the group and the industry the Ultimate guide is more focused on the group dynamics and members, as well as some snippets of each title track up to BEcause.
Enjoy!
I got to see them live. They are real phenomenal to hear in person.
I’m glad to see you also enjoy Dreamcatcher 🎉
Dreamcatcher❤
Great reaction again!
*Dodging Disbandment and Other Extreme Sports: a History of Dreamcatcher* by Mera is good video for understanding the path, the road, and the highways our Ladies already experienced...
*An Extensive Guide to Dreamcatcher 2023* by Dreamer is a good guide to the introduction of the Ladies and the discography...
*This is___ * series by Insomnicsy is a good way to know more of our Ladies personalities...
You may react to all of that, or just watch it on your own privacy time, but regardless, I would always love to watch your reaction as you grow to be a real InSomnia...
Stay safe, keep healthy, and have great days
I think "Demian" might kill this man 😅 but what a way to go 😊
No one mention Abracadabra. He will actually perish.
@aislin2989 oh!! I was thinking about how he's dying over the sound of the Dystopia trilogy and how hard they go, but yes, Abracadabra is dangerous for everyone for VERY different reasons.
@@janays3550 ...now I need to rewatch it. dammit. brb dying.
You're literally giddy! I love it.
I truly was and still am. 😅
Thanks for reacting to this awesome trilogy by our girls ❤
Gracias por reaccionar a Dreamcatcher! Espero que puedas conocer más y más de ellas ❤
Absolutely loved your reaction to the Dystopia Trilogy (Scream, BOCA, Odd Eye).
This trilogy is actually about bullying and cyber bullying in general, the title tracks have their own meanin and you can interpret them like this:
Scream = Hear No Evil
BOCA (Mouth in Spanish) = Say No Evil
Odd Eye = See No Evil
Their concepts are absolutely amazing and they are actually one of the few Kpop groups who is not afraid to address sensitive stuffs like this one. Looking forward to your Dreamcatcher journey! I assure you it's gonna get much more better than the 3 songs you've reacted to!
I'm looking forward to watching more! I appreciate you watching as well! 🫡
Inlove dreamcatcher!!! I love all their songs. Please do check them all out from their debut songs. About this trilogy, i love all 3 songs but odd eye is my fav among them ❤️.
Thankyou for reacting to my girls~
So, it took me probably a year to figure out some of the K-pop jargon, but you, my dude, are becoming a Gahyeon stan. ("Stan" meaning basically your favorite in a group. I've stanned Siyeon -- main vocalist -- since the 1st two or 3 M/Vs I saw.) You have now stopped 2 M/Vs on Gahyeon's face and commented on her riveting eyes LOL
Gahyeon's facial expressions are legendary.
Sometimes, it might be better to JUST PEAK into how kpop idols are made. These ladies are one of the rare lucky ones, thank goodness! This industry is very competitive and heavily controlled from the top.
I recommend 2 B-site songs from this year: "Demian" and "Propose" - both official "Special clips" from the official Dreamcatcher YT channel. As well as “Deja Vu”, an older song from 2019 (official MV). An unusual orchestral "ballad" (because it slips so suddenly into the harsh tones in the chorus).
If you want to know more about them, watch “Dodging disbandment and other extreme sports”
Odd Eyes are to help you see the truth that the online world isn't the utopia we hoped for. The trilogy is about how language is used to harm people (Scream and Boca are about bullying and hateful speech respectively. 5 members of Dreamcatcher started out doing the same things every girl group did and couldn't get noticed, so their company flipped the script and they started doing what NO ONE else in Korea was.
Nowadays when any kpop group releases a song with a rock/metal sound they are described as doing "a Dreamcatcher concept".
Wait till u start Maison, Vision, and Bon Voyage. Ur definitely gonna bounce off the wall when u hear this trilogy
they have a pretty sad journey before they are now.
well i know that other groups have their own difficulties but for dreamcatcher their journey is just make me sad when i look back.
they just get sleep on easily eventho they're that talented and their personality is pretty fun to be watch too. from what i see whole 4 years of being insomnia i still can tell that JiU is the sweetest and brightest person even in their hard times.
again Thank you so much for giving Dreamcatcher an opportunity to know them. ♥
dreamcatcher \:D/
5 of the 7 members started off as a group called minx and did the stereotypical bubblegum kpop stuff. being from a small company with limited resources, they couldn't stand out and failed but their company ceo did the unthinkable in the kpop industry - give failure a second chance to 'catch' their 'dreams'. he later said he saw they were able to pull off any genre and didn't want to give up on them. their ceo as well as a few members were rock/metal fans so this time around they would make the music they wanted instead of what the kpop industry expected from a kpop girl group. they were going to focus on all aspects of rock/metal in a country that didn't like those genres. one song at a time they slowly gained a lot of international fans so they are kind of an underdog success story. maybe you can check out their debut song 'chase me' which is the first part of the nightmare series(chase me, good night, fly high, you and I, what, piri). it also kind of fits with halloween coming up lol ;)
Dude your reaction 🫶🙌
their best trilogy till date, u should check out their most kpopish title tracke "BEcause".
Elas são incríveis.
Haha! Love it!
You can start from their first song “Chase me”.😊
These girls hit hard right? :D
Once they take you by the neck they don't let go :D
I appreciate that you like and enjoy reacting to the videos from Dreamcatcher... please continue your journey with Dreamcatcher... you won't regret it... I guarantee 💯... 😁✌🇲🇾
After finish Dyistopia Trilogy, i suggest you start they 'Nightmare Series Story'...
1. Fly High
2. Chase Me
3. Good Night
4. You and I
5. What
6. Piri
7. Breaking Out
8. Deja Vu
I hope you enjoys all they songs. Ty😊🇲🇾
5 members of Dreamcatcher used to be Minx - (fortunately) unsuccessful typical poppy kpop girlgroup. After the failure of Minx, the ceo of the company (who started the company from the tickets sold from organizing the first x-japan(japanese rock band) concert in Korea) decided to do things that nobody does - rock/metal mixed with pop. Because his company is small and doesn't have money or resources to make the "typical" kpop gir group to succeed.
The journey of them becoming of the Dreamcatcher and their struggling history until scream is well documented in this video (ua-cam.com/video/YIgCAp3i1os/v-deo.htmlsi=OSkjMU0FWIAKHi6T) from mera - which I recommend for next Dreamcatcher video. It really makes me appreciate what they do so much more.
Also, Dreamcatcher always put some twists in the last few seconds of their MVs! in Odd eye, they show sentece that concludes dystopia series: In the end, Dreamcatcher's couldn't find the utopia what they dreamed of.
Nice rock ballad from Dreamcatcher (for an A-site). The B sites have more slower and experimental stuff, but always somehow unique - and good.
I notice you're quick to pause before the end of the video and you've sometimes missed the final shots (like with Odd Eye) and with other videos you may miss more. You're probably trying to catch the video before it jumps to another video. If you didn't know, you can turn that off (if the video isn't in a playlist - there's browser extensions that can handle that as well). At the lower right of the player window, to the left of the CC button. there's sliding toggle where you can set Autoplay to Off. This will allow you to let the video play to the end and not miss anything. There's a few Dreamacatcher videos with extra scenes, outakes at the end. Sort of like after credit scenes.
Well apparently YT thought my comment was spam or something (or someone reported it bc I gave the cliff notes version of answering your question.) Anyways, great reaction, assuming my other comments havent been deleted, catch self made MVs and/or relay dances for some bits of personality. They're genuinely lovely ladies and I think you'll like their music even more once you get to know them.
그리고 드림캐쳐의 history에 대해서 알고 싶으시다면 다음 영상을 추천합니다. ua-cam.com/video/YIgCAp3i1os/v-deo.html
Hi, I am a BLACKPINK fan but this is also one of my other favorite groups. I am so glad you are reacting to them to he will love all their music too. When you get a chance you should also check out Everglow I think you would love their style to another favorite of mine is (G)I-DLE totally awesome.
Thank you for your Reaction BRO!
The dystopian trilogy contains social discourse about hatred, loathing, verbal abuse, and cyberbullying.
1. SCREAM = do not HEAR(LISTEN) evil things.
2. BOCA = do not SAY(TELL) evil things.
3. ODD EYE = do not SEE(STARE) evil things.
the evil thing mentioned in ‘Odd Eye’ is a fantastic and beautiful world and life of others that can be seen in the world of SNS (social network service) and the Internet.
This is the meaning of the lyrics, ‘an ecstatic moment, a perfect ILLUSION.’
In the end, what Odd Eye wants to say is to live one's own life and reality, not 'other people's lives and world'.
‘Utopia’ is within you and us.
+ And for a ‘utopia’,
do not HEAR(LISTEN) evil things.
do not SAY(TELL) evil things.
do not SEE(STARE) evil things.
do not fill your time with HATE. and Live your own life.
Have a great day BRO!
5 of the 7 members of Dreamcatcher originally debuted in a different group known as Minx. Their concept was the usual bubblegum kpop that flooded the industry. However, coming from a small studio they were quickly lost in a sea of other monster groups that also debuted with the same concept. Minx was quickly disbanded and in 2017 those original 5 members along with 2 new members debuted under a different concept, fusing rock and metal with kpop to stand apart from everyone else in the industry. The gamble paid off and we get the Dreamcatcher that you see today.
I highly suggest you watch Mera's Dodging Disbandment video if you want a more thorough deep dive into their earlier years. Their history is actually wild.
Dreamcatcher are amazing. Please check out Rolling Quartz too, fearless is their latest single, they are also Dreamcatcher fans! It’s the one with 1.5 million views on their Channel :) I’m sure you’ll enjoy it and they also write their own songs and play their own instruments 🎸
Hi. After check Dreamcatcher's amazing title M/Vs. You must check their all albums. They are all masterpieces ! You will be shocked. 😉 Thanks. From N.Y.
Do “You & I” or the apocalypse trilogy
Endless night and Masion by dreamcatcher please please
Try choose me by band-maid
Yes, and "Yolo" + "Manners", too. And Dreamcatcher furthermore in future.
If you'd like to see the full scope of their discography, their ballads are HEAVENLY. Rainy Day( ua-cam.com/video/YwcGoDhTnxY/v-deo.html ) made me cry and Dear( ua-cam.com/video/421MosMKT3s/v-deo.html ) is a love song to InSomnias. Always( ua-cam.com/video/KqV34B3QIdc/v-deo.html (live version)) was a song they sang live for the first time in a while and they cried because it was the first time they had seen InSomnias since Covid started. Deja Vu( ua-cam.com/video/W761DtH1oRg/v-deo.html ) is a great example of how powerful the girls are with a rock ballad.
Additional notes on the "Always" live performance... beside being the first live performance since a long time, they invited family and friends which were also in the audience. It was the first song plus they've seen their fans for the first time with the unmatched extendable Lightstick.
I've fallen out of bed early that day to watch the live stream of the concert and teared up as well watching this. In the comments it directly went to "Oh, no they are crying already.". Well the ballad didn't really help at all.
TY! I had forgotten that part! I was sitting there crying with them
I never thought my beard would get wet with my tears 🤣@@j.w.u.5728
👏👏👏👍😂😂
Look all videos bro
My man, CHECK OUT THEIR JAPANESE STUFF. Seriously.
Btw, love the reaction! How about checking out CORPSE x BTMH - Code Mistake? I swear you won't be disappointed haha
Dreamcatcher is amazing fam wait until you do everglow
