Sorry, I never really investigated this fully, not sure what triggers the events.

You have to beat 6 to 9 opponents with an Super Move and don't lose an match until the 4th stage, then either Rugal, Orochi Iori or Orochi Leona will challenge you, beat them and you'll unlock them
