I love red and turqouise with black and white. Using your own painted papers really makes the end result so much better and unique. Thanks for sharing!
I love turquoise and bright pink..after watching you I want to go into my studio that has been unused for months due to illness and lack of motivation...now I have that creative feeling!!
Thank you thank you thank Adele!! I’ve been doing grid art journals and wondering about buying collage paper. Voila! You appeared on my Instagram feed and I’m hooked on making my own collage paper. Deeply appreciate your style of teaching: clear, succinct, and easy to follow. Happy 2023.
Loved this video - I had my 4 and 12 year old gran-daughters for the day and set up a paint session in the garden for them to let rip. I now have fantastic collage papers to use in future projects which will have a strong family connection for us all. Thank you so much for the idea!
Your videos are always great because you explain exactly what you are using and your thought process. They are a joy to watch. Oh yes, I love lime green, saffron yellow and neon pink, although I've never tried them together.
I did it! I used tracing paper because it was the closest to deli paper (I think?). Idek what deli paper is LOL! But the point is that I did it! And it’s 2:04am. Thanks Adele❤
Hi Adele, just found you on UA-cam, I am a print maker from England who, on occasions, ventures into collage. This is happening more and more and I use my prints or copies of to collage. I really enjoyed your video and will be watching you more often. I love to see others enjoying the same processes as myself and seeing how they work. Thanks for the videos.
I found you just in time! I was about to order some (rather expensive) collage papers and then I saw you making your own which I LOVE better than the bought ones. You had so many ideas that my head is spinning. This is a new form of art for me so I am just learning and you have taught me a lot in one lesson!! I will keep watching. Thank you.
I like the orange/hot pink combinations. Thanks Adele, for these videos - your process is expanding the way I work (too small & carefully in some cases). I’m going directly to my studio to try a few new ways of working!
It's so wonderfully inspiring! Thank you so much. I know the video is older, but I love orange and magenta together .... plus yellow and red 🧡💖 💛❤. When it's spring, I buy 10 tulips each in these colours and put them together in a big glass vase. I love it 🥰 ... it looks overwhelming. Give it a try 🤗 Best regards from the Baltic coast of Germany
I found a good use for some of my large collage papers that I decided I didn't want. Use them to wrap small and medium sized packages. The post office gets a kick out of them and recipients know who the package is from!
I'm a total paper and color addict, I always say paints/art supplies are my drugs. There is nothing like seeing all the colors and textures that are available to play with or to just look at and feel or to create yourself. I actually think the chemical response in the brain, my brain at least, is the same as people get from actual drugs hahaha And I can't narrow them down to just a favorite pair but a few are pink and orange, blue&orange, pink&grey, black and white, blues and greens, and purple and grey, all the usual combos.
Several artist I have seen use the basic Catalyst Wedge but there are so many to choose from. They each have different edge profiles so they make amazing marks. They would be great used on those large colour block collages.
Oh , my ! Adele, I had forgotten how glorious playing could be. Another friend and I are going to explore just playing today. Her mother sometimes participates with us in drawing, so I hope she will try with us......(I might add she is has some dementia) so we are praying she will have fun with us. I get way too serious most of the time, so this will be a fun day!
Hi Adele! Really wonderful video. I usually make collage papers when I'm not feeling particularly creative enough to tackle a canvas. It always seems to spark something that allow me to move forward. My favorite colors are blues and rust/orange. Thank you!
Love blue and orange. Me too, doing the collage papers always sparks something. And it is a great way to be creative and add to your collage collection when you just have 15 or 30 minutes or so. 🌸
I like it ! I like all the colors all depends on my state of mind, the color of the sky ... but the ones I prefer among all are black and orange. Have a nice day !
Loved this video. I keep lots of pieces of papers as wells as my paper palettes. You gave me lots of ideas, notably how to draw make marks. I would try to used light brown with violet. Thank you Adele. This is Brigitte, abstract painter.
My favorite colors are orange and bright pink or orange and turquoise. Love this video! What would be the best way to adhere the collage pieces to the canvas and also, what would you use as a finishing glaze or varnish for the piece?
Love your videos! (I love them even more without the music). Can't wait to see what you do with the collage papers. I always have trouble choosing favourite colours but yellow and violet is a favourite combo. Thank you!
Looking forward to seeing how you use these in next week's vid 👏. I mostly still use other people's art (from magazines and books) for collage but I really want to be using my own so this will be very inspiring and instructive for me. 🤓
I really had so much fun creating it. I am going to show you that there are so many possibilities just using the papers I painted in this video. You are going to love it I hope. 🌸
Hi Adele! Would you use better quality paints to make these papers or just any paint you have lying around to use up? I have a bunch of old, cheap acrylic paints I use in my art journal. Would it be okay to use these or would I worry about if it will all flake off when adhered to a larger painting? I know you use matte medium so I'm thinking it might be okay as long as I don't water them down.
Hi Adele I love your channel and your enthusiasm. Thank you for sharing. I love the wide tools you are spreading the paint with . What are they called?
@adelesypesteyn I am saving this for a future project. I have saved my brown packing paper from package deliveries that look like future paper, or even painting over older larger underpaintings to use for something like this. I cannot wait to see the follow up video for the collage process and finished pieces. As always I adore all of your videos and take away so much from them and cannot emphasize how much gratitude I have for them. All my love. Looking forward to my process in future and yours as well♡
Thank you so much. I love using recycled brown paper. Saturday Nov 30 is when I release the video showing many possibilities for arranging these papers. Hope you get the chance to watch. 🌸
Hello, new subby here from Australia . I just stumbled across you Adele and so glad I did. Your work is wonderful. Could u do a video on attaching large pieces to their base. I’m wondering if all of it is glued on or just in sections. Thank u so much for your time.
Do newspaper deteriorate? I believe I heard you saying that in one of your videos. Even if they are gesso’d on top and back? I have played with them because they are free and easy to get, turning them into beautiful pieces I loved but now Im to afraid adding them to a canvas. As im new to making collage papers and adding them to my paintings. I love watching you and thank you for all the information Im able to learn from you.
First, thank you for these 2 videos! 😘 Answers: Two colors I’ve not tried together when painting paper for my collage stash are: purple and red. Narrowing down to two favorite colors is difficult, but since the 1960s as a child I’ve loved black and a shade of dark red. Now, for my questions: aren't you concerned about the lack of archival quality in many of these papers...especially if a finished painting ends up in a commissioned piece or gallery noted for high end paintings? In other words, will there be longevity? Or am I concerned for no reason? 🙃 Next, I’m curios, what brand of paints are in the bottles you’re using? Last: Do you have a preference for a brand of paint when working directly on a stretched canvass...like Golden or Liquitex? You are so kind to WANT your viewers to interact with you! 💕💕 I’ve only seen these two videos...so I’m a newbie. 😊 Thanks again! ❤️
I guess I'm curious too now that I think about it. If you're making collage papers out of newsprint, are you using those in finished pieces that are for sale?
Love it so much! Thank you for sharing! What are your thoughts on acid-free paper and archival quality materials? Like some of those papers might not be. Just curious! But I love that you use everything!
Hi! In this video we are just making the collage papers so no fixative needed. I do use fixative to apply the pieces though. I use all kinds of different papers, I recommend trying many types to see what you like best!
Adele, you might enjoy some of the cool artistry of Dan Tirels. He uses a lot of recycled "trash" in his abstracts. His videos are very relaxing and interesting.
What is newsprint paper you refer to? Your videos are so inspiring. I’m a brand new artist and I’m learning so so much from watching your videos. Thank you for sharing them with us

I LOVE all of the pieces but my favorite is the black circles with the blue underneath..... Gorgeous!
Loved this video - I had my 4 and 12 year old gran-daughters for the day and set up a paint session in the garden for them to let rip. I now have fantastic collage papers to use in future projects which will have a strong family connection for us all. Thank you so much for the idea!
Love the outcome. You are so brave wearing white when painting. That made me nervous lol
Adele...love your art! These videos are like potato chips---can't watch just one. Learning so much. Thank you for your generous sharings.
If anyone is interested in what paints I used in this video, they are a set of 12 DecoArt Crafter’s Acrylic Neon. Hope this helps. 🌸
What paper do you use to paint on?
I had just opened the comments section to ask this question and there it was on top of this section. 💕
Blue green and orange! My absolute fave. Love your videos, Adele! They remind me to just play!
royal blue & fushia pink. anything clear & bright makes my heart sing.
I am so glad I found your videos! SO WONDERFUL! I love your voice- it's so soothing...
Your Art is so FUN and whimsical...love it! Hot Pink and Teal are two of my faves...and LOVE polka dots :)
Your videos are always great because you explain exactly what you are using and your thought process. They are a joy to watch. Oh yes, I love lime green, saffron yellow and neon pink, although I've never tried them together.
Love purple and green---love your videos and your charming personality!
Thank you so much! 🌸
I did it! I used tracing paper because it was the closest to deli paper (I think?). Idek what deli paper is LOL! But the point is that I did it! And it’s 2:04am. Thanks Adele❤
How wonderful Maria. Love hearing that you did it. Congrats.

Love your techniques! Where do you get deli paper? Can you talk more about all the different papers your using?
It's so wonderfully inspiring! Thank you so much. I know the video is older, but I love orange and magenta together .... plus yellow and red 🧡💖 💛❤.

Yay loved it! Exactly what I was looking for.
Just discovered your channel and I love it! So many great and valuable tips, Thank you!
Love this...I don’t know much about artist but I knew that answer. I love painting with tissue paper. It gives wonderful texture.
Yes it does. 🌸
Such an inspirational video.
I like rusty orange & copper with a bit of teal.
Several artist I have seen use the basic Catalyst Wedge but there are so many to choose from. They each have different edge profiles so they make amazing marks. They would be great used on those large colour block collages.
I love watching you creatively have such fun!!! Thank you. Trishxx
Really enjoyed this video. My son votes on teal and purple colors!
Very interesting !!!! Now I am very curious to see a collage made with these papers !!!!!!
Loved this, and stood amazed. How on earth do one let go like this when one is a detailed, controlling perfectionist?
Just finished watching. Loved this video. I am a big black and white fan too. I also love pink and gold together
Yes! Pink and gold....ooooh, nice. 🌸
Orange and sage green are my favorite colors
Oh , my ! Adele, I had forgotten how glorious playing could be. Another friend and I are going to explore just playing today. Excellent tutorial!
Love the pink drips on the orange- my favorite
Me too, and I didn’t plan that at all. 🌸

Love your videos. Adelle what colour combination would you try to get an orange similar to that one you are using??
Vivid red used to be a favorite. Now it is orange and lime green. I guess I am going back to the 70's. Lol.
Right now I LOVE orange and pink. Q...where do I buy deli paper and newsprint?
Blue n green!!!!! Blue n purple!!!!
I like it ! I like all the colors all depends on my state of mind, the color of the sky ... but the ones I prefer among all are black and orange. Have a nice day !

Thank you!
Thanks for letting me know about the music. I will probably stop doing it. 🌸
@@AdeleSypesteynStudio yes, the music is distracting.
Adele, Could you please do a video in completing the collage you started in this video. I am curious what products you used and your technique.
Magenta and cad red lighti are a favourite and pthalo blues and everything transparent.
Hi Adele, great video! I’d like to try out aqua and orange. Amy x
Looking forward to seeing how you use these in next week's vid 👏. I mostly still use other people's art (from magazines and books) for collage but I really want to be using my own so this will be very inspiring and instructive for me. 🤓

What kind of paper is best for your substrate?

I currently love burnt orange and aqua

great ideas adele.........love your saturday morning videos..........what is the white roll paper you refer to thanks joanne
The white roll paper is just a large roll of white paper that I use to cover my folding work table. You can get it in 24” or 36” wide. 🌸
So much fun! I'm looking forward to see what you do with these collage papers. How about yellow and lilac?
LOVE yellow and lilac too. 🌸
Another great lesson. I love all colors, especially bold reds . Adele, where do you buy deli paper?
I buy the deli paper on Amazon. The one I buy is 12x12” flat pack. I don’t want them folded. Hope this helps. 🌸
Nice. And fun. I love to watch you. Question: what color blue did you use on the brown paper? It’s gorgeous.
Love it so much! Thank you for sharing! What are your thoughts on acid-free paper and archival quality materials? Like some of those papers might not be. Just curious! But I love that you use everything!
Are you not using fixativ for you mixed mediums, and What’s the name of the large paper, not the del🙏😇love it
Hi! In this video we are just making the collage papers so no fixative needed. I do use fixative to apply the pieces though. I use all kinds of different papers, I recommend trying many types to see what you like best!

Black and blue , pink and red please help me with the tips on making a collage on soil conservation what i can do ??
I really like combinations that are just slightly off their complements: orange and purple, red and teal.
Great suggestion. Will give that a try. 🌸
The deli posset i have is slightly shiny on one side so which side should I paint on
Nice
Hi Adele..what sort of paint did you use for spreading with the wide spreader on newsprint ( blue and orange)? Great ideas. Helen
I used acrylic paint. 🌸
Hello Adele, I just suscribed to you channel. Please can you advice the name of the transparent paper? Thanks so much....
Pink and Turquoise with cream
Those sound yummy. 🌸
My favorite 2 colors are yellow green with magenta, I also like to use the rest of my paint on the palette, and brush or wipe on tissue paper.
Very good idea to not waste left over paint and wipe it on tissue paper. Thanks for sharing. 🌸
That is one of my favorite combinations
Adele, thank you for this lovely video. Could you list the brand and colours you used today?
The paints are a set I bought. It is a set of 12. DecoArt Crafter’s acrylic neon. 🌸
Pink and turquoise!
Adele, you might enjoy some of the cool artistry of Dan Tirels. He uses a lot of recycled "trash" in his abstracts. His videos are very relaxing and interesting.
Thanks for the recommendation! 🌸
I love your freestyle way of working!
Thank you so much. 🌸
Red violet and yellow green, please!
What is newsprint paper you refer to? Your videos are so inspiring. I’m a brand new artist and I’m learning so so much from watching your videos. Thank you for sharing them with us
Mes couleurs favorites sont le violet et le rose.
Are such large papers being created for use on large paintings?
Turquoise and orange, aqua and deep purple, orange and brown
Great color combinations! 🌸
