Fuck yes!!! Always been a huge fan of Phil’s.
This goes to show how you don’t need a ton of scales to blow minds.
With a simple pentatonic scale he’s blowing minds by playing with huge amounts of passion and creativity.

One of the weird things about the time in which we find ourselves is that there are so many youtube famous guitarists who haven't a single hit song between them. Then...tens of thousands of hacks like myself...lots of clutter, not much to hang a hat on.
edit: one more weird thing..all the bands that used to be hits that now have almost no original members...they're really nothing more than cover bands milking old hits. Weird time.

It’s not that strange, you didn’t get to see all the guitar players from back in the day, everyone has a platform now and music has changed. Music is free now and money is made on sponsors and endorsements so there is no need in hit music. That being said.. it’s rare that an amazing guitar player actually does hit songs. A lot of players are technically talented but don’t know the first thing about writing a good song

People knocking the Pentatonic scale are only those referring to silly boxes and the endless repetition most players get caught up in when concentrating on the CAGED system. The Pentatonic scale is located across the entire fretboard, as all scales are. The earlier one concentrates on Intervals (intervalic distances, which is what scales are, and the basis of music... not rocket science, just sayin'), rather than silly scale boxes, the quicker they will realise guitar playing isn't about needless and endless memorisation (of notes, chords shapes, boxes etc.). Once intervals are learned, chords fall into place without even trying. I'm self-taught and not looking to knock anyone's learning path, but either you want to play harder or you want to play smarter. The choice is yours. Intervals!!

Dude I just wanna say I am self taught and never learned about intervals yet, but your comment got me searching and I'm really inspired to unlock the fretboard with this knowledge now, thank you! Intervals, Who knew.
