They actually should have had somebody on the tender near the handbrake to so if that were to happen they could have applied that handbrake and stopped the tender
I love the way the guy on the left is watching the wheel on the rail quite intensely in the first part of the video - I assume he's watching in case it comes off, but what exactly is he intending to do if it does? Tell it off? Wave at it?
@@Ian-qs3fzprobably a native speaker of German; in German, ships are referred to as male if they have male names, so it would be standard practice to do so with locomotives if they are named also.
@@JohnGeorgeBauerBuis most if not all Locomotives are called She. As they are very expressive & will tell you when she's needing something done. Only a few exceptions are male in terms of a title. Union Pacific #4014 Big Boy for instance.
Sounds like when I send a row of cars down the track to hook up to my locomotives then realize they roll a lot faster and smoother than I thought then BOOM! for my HO Scale train
The chain went flaccid which caused it to slip out of the loop it was hooked into. Looks like the tension behind it was the only thing keeping it in place
Fun fact: that was not a crash. It was a way to couple The tender to The loco and no damaged was caused (hopefully). Fun fact 2: That loco is The only one of its class/type that is still in existence.
