Even though this title sounds very negative I DO think the GoPro Hero 10 is an amazing camera. It's simply not worth it for everyone to buy it, as the price of $500 is very expensive 🧐 Tomorrow I will upload a more in depth comparison of the GoPro Hero 8, 9 and 10, so together with this video you should then exactly know, if you should upgrade or not 🤗
I've had every iteration of the Go Pro like a "true fan boy" but fan boy-ism aside, as a intensive user, the Hero 10 is actually very, very good in comparison to the 9 even though the 9 is super good itself, imho
Brother just mentioned HERO 10 in thumbnail, the CTR will increase and video will perform better, Because by picture many(new viewers) won't understand which model you are talking about...
@@LouisLuzuka In my opinion, yes. You get a better processor, better recording resolutions and fps, not to mention the Hypersmooth has come a LONG way since the 7. Going from a 7 to a 10, you will notice a dramatic difference. Going from a 9-10, prob not worth the jump just yet.
An action camera should keep everything you care about in focus all the time, and they are depth of field limited. A larger sensor would either mean near focus would be pushed out, or the f-number would need to be increased to the point where the improved low light would mostly be lost. In the case of the Insta360 1-Inch they increased the f-number a little, but near focus is too far out for selfies.
I just purchased my first GoPro which was the Hero 10. The GoPro website has the 10 for $399 which includes an extra battery and charger and a 32GB SD card. For $15 more you can upgrade the SD to a 64GB and for an extra $50 you get an accessory bundle and a 1 year subscription (a year subscription is a $49.99 price itself). They ship same day if ordered by 4 pm EST (USA) and free standard (2-3 days) shipping on orders over $50.00.
I have the hero8 - 9 - 10 For me personally I use them all for different set ups. I’m in the water a lot. And it helps to have multiple cameras. I’m also in the dry desert a lot, so it also helps when one camera starts to overheat I can rotate that one out and bring a new one in. What I like the most about the hero10 is the 240fps. That’s amazing for filming aquatic life you want to capture in slow motion. I also agree that 5k is a little much for an action camera. But it’s a great way to market their product to make sales🤷♂️
There are others action cameras out there that take just as good as pictures and video for much less, BUT the battery only last like 30-45 min. The Go-Pro battery can last up to 2.5 hours if you have your settings right. Record on 1080 and at 30 FPS and you will get 2 plus hours of video on you GoPro.
I have seen some random off brands on Amazon, I am kind of looking for an all in one, 360, high frame rate action. I have been focused mostly on drone stuff for the last year, but now realizing there is more I want to do. Any recommendations and have you ever ordered anything like this off of Ali?
It's a Hero 9S What I believe happened was, 9 was meant to be an incremental upgrade and 10 was mean to be a big release with dual screens, new processor and all the bells But then DJI came in with an Osmo Action and did everything GoPro was going to do, but better. It annihilatied their stock price (which hasn't recovered to this day) and they were forced to accelerate So we got everything in a Hero9, but the new chip wasn't ready yet, so we got a locked sensor and slow UI Now that the chip is ready, there's no new features to put in the camera and we got "new era of gopro" which is just an unlocked sensor and a faster menu
With the hero 10 you get 19 megapixel stills from video grabs. Also burst still photo mode files get written onto the card more quickly. Those are significant improvements for me.
I’ve never had a GOPro or even a camera for ages. I’m looking to buy the GoPro because it’s more robust for taking videos and pictures for when I’m out and about. I don’t want to clog up my iPhone. I also want to start vlogging.
For vlogging you can just use your phone, personally I only use my GoPro for mountain biking clips and sometimes when I go snorkeling. Smartphone quality is better in most cases in my opinion though I do feel like GoPro’s slo-mo is better than any smartphone on the market right now. Also I’m still using a GoPro hero 6 and it still works fine for me, honestly this GoPro is probably so much better but I don’t use my GoPro enough to justify the purchase. I bought a drone a couple years ago and have only flown it a couple times cause there’s not a lot of places you can fly it and there’s all these rules so I just decide not fly it and basically wasted 1500$, remember that GoPro doesn’t come with a fun and exciting life everyday
BTW, I ordered the replacement lens cover for the Hero10 from the GoPro online store. The cover of the Hero9 can be switched. So simply attach the Hero10 cover and water drops no longer stick to the Hero9 as well.
Being you didn't reply to my last question, comment 10 months ago maybe I will hear back from you this time. I shot a kayaking video in 2.7K using my Hero 10 Black and when I went to export my video using iMovie, 2.7K wasn't an option. I've edited 4K and 1080p videos using iMovie. Is there a way to export 2.7K using iMovie?
So far Ithese issues with GoPro Hero 10 Black: 1. Power Off while charging and I can't turn it on. Only taking the battery out helps. 2. It can turn on by itself while charging or without it 3. Overheats after 34 minutes and turns off by itself and the battery is still 30%. The video is 4K 60. 4. Overheats after 1 hour 6 mins and turns off by itself and the battery is still 15%. The video is 1080p 60. 5. When I charge it and click the power button it says Power off and does not turn off. If I click on it to turn it off again, then the display is black & nothing happens. Only taking the battery out helps. 6. When I charge the GoPro and turn it on, the battery percentage is not updated. For example it shows 36%, when I switch to photo & back it shows 94%. 7. It I record without the battery I can't see what I record and how long. The display is black. When I stop recording, it says "COLD BATTERY ALERT, the battery is below of 0º C". But I don't use don’t battery, I use the cable only. If someone wishes to buy it, I don't recommend to. But it's up to you.
I wont get the GoPro10 cause of the overheating problem and sounds too buggy for 500 dollars. The charging problems maybe taken care of by a software update, but overheating is definitely a hardware issue and no way to keep the unit cool enough to stay on after 20-30 minutes. I need a camera that can do long video shoots without worrying shutting down.
Thank you for your video. I just bought a GoPro HERO10 from the GoPro website for $299.99. I'm replacing my 4-year-old FujiFilm 1080P 60fps, waterproof camera with this HERO10.

First camera since my 20 year old Canon. So for motorcycle riding, airplanes, Dog Cam... it sounds like the Frame rate will be important then, correct? I would like to do 360, but it sounds like the Go Pro Max is the one that does that. I have only streamed on Twitch and typically do 720p 30fps, I am not that happy with how Twitch does business so looking at UA-cam now. For 360 real estate interior filming, I was going to try and use a drone, but I think that might not be the best idea in case I make mistake and crash into a chandelier.
The difference between 60fps and 120 when it comes to fluid images is almost the same, slow motion obviously will look better, however, like many people have been commenting here, we do not need 5K, it is simply harder to edit on most machines, and even if you wanna upload it to UA-cam, on most people's internet speeds and devices will not play smoothly, it is simply a waste of time. I used to be a GoPro super fan, until I had the marvellous experience of owning a DJI Osmo Action. Think about it, while GoPro has released the 7, the 8, 9 and 10... Dji releases ONE Osmo Action, that's it. If you've had the pleasure of owning anything DJI, you'll know that the quality and reliability are second to none. Dji's Osmo Action is still the best action camera on sale today, and at a lovely $190 usd, the best value for money.

Very unpopular opinion. I watched several videos on the hero 10 to decide if I should get it or not. Not once did I hear a complaint, rather how it fixes the issues from the 9. To tell people not to upgrade is doing them an unjustice, from getting away from the glitches, better interface, and much better performance
Hello my friend. I'm going to buy gopro for the first time. I've never had a gopro before. and maximum stabilization, which is important to me. Do you think I should buy go pro MAX or gopro 10 ? Gopromax VS Gopro10
Still rocking my 5 year old hero session 5. Lol. Surprisingly after 5 years of fpv drone racing and freestyle it still going. Battery doesn’t hold great anymore but still works perfectly. And if I need another can get a refurb for $125 😋
Excellent Video I want to start a travel vlog...i dont own Gopro.. do u think gopro9 would be sufficient for normal travel viedeos and editing. plz suggest. Go pro10 cost here in India is around $730
I'm going on vacation next month and would like to shoot some videos there. Since I only have an old Yi 4K Action Cam, I have now bought a Hero9. I didn't buy the Hero10 on purpose. The new features aren't really important to me and the 9 has now also dropped in price.
I have hero 8 and it is absolutely unnecessary to upgrade for something I don't use. I'll better wait for dji osmo action 2 instead, I'm sure they will add better features for example 8K. And thankfully they don't release a new camera every year like a cell phone.
I'm amazed you said to upgrade to a 9 from a 7. I heard apart from to the front screen, that the 9's performance was like a downgrade in terms of image quality from the 8?
Thanks Jan! What do you recommend doing with older GoPro cameras if you upgrade to newer models? (I have a 5, 7, 9, and 10 so thinking of getting rid of the 5 and maybe the 7.)
Do you know if the gopro 8 still has the preview on smartphone while recording? Because the 9 and 10 does not have this feature like it had with the gp 5. i love that feature and its the reason why iam not interested in the 9 and10.
Ive never owned a GoPro before, but i am thinking about getting a Hero 10 (or knowing me i may end up with 2, or even 3) (I’ve only had the cheap clones, which aren’t great, especially when they only record at 30fps and record each frame twice to try and make it seem like 60fps, i think one of the cheap cameras i have has the option for 720p 120fps, although i have not been able to verify the actual frame rate, as it could be 60fps and doubling the frames I have 3 of those cheap cameras, the first one i got has options for 4k 25fps, 2.7k 30fps, 1080p 30fps, 1080p 60fps (not actually 60fps), and 720p 120fps (unable to verify frame rate), the second camera has the same options, apart from the 4k being 30fps instead of 25fps, and there is also a 4k 30fps EIS option, the third camera i am unable to find right now, so i cant check what options it has, but that third one was the only one where the 1080p 60fps option was actually 60fps)
Well, i have the GoPro hero 8 black and honestly it is WAYYYY enough for me ( normal day vlog, going outside for hours ) I also bought a second rechargeable battery for it for very long journeys in case the first one dies. I followed all your recommendations for the GoPro hero 8 video quality for vlog, cinematic, activity, and i am very thankful for this:D I have no plans to upgrade to the 9 or either the 10, the 8 is just enough and many people should know it ( even the 7 is still great ).
Yo si la compraría. Pero estoy enojado porque reconocen que la 9 funciona lento, no funciona bien el display, se calienta y se tilda. Osea que sacaron a la venta un producto que falla. Me siento estafado.
I have a GoPro7 and was waiting to see if they did 1inch sensor. I do not want 5k. What is the point of this if people are viewing on a, iPad or computer. My computer struggles with 4K processing. I will be buying Insta360 One 1inch.
We NEED 1) The sensor size BIGGER to get MORE LIGHT AT NIGHT, 2) The life of battery more long, and 3) The possibility to add a BLUETOOTH microphone WITHOUT ANY ACCESSORY!!!!
I don't know- even though my Lumix LX100 has a one-inch sensor, I think I like the Go Pro 10 even better, and the LX100 cost over twice as much! So, $500 isn't too bad, in my opinion. Besides, if the Go Pro 11 has a one-inch sensor, 240 fps in 4K, flip-up screen and other new things, it's bound to be at least $800 (Cnd), especially because of the bigger sensor, me thinks! Also, I've seen videos in really low light at night that looked really good when using a gimbal like the Homhem iSteady Pro 4. Finally!- cameras with small sensors can do a decent job in low light with a gimbal! Still, you've got to have at least a one-inch sensor to capture beautiful bokeh! But I'll use another camera for that!
I was thinking about upgrading to the hero 10’from the 7! Keeping the 7 as another angle cam! Loving recording at the moment just uploaded my latest travel vlog today! I might buy the 10 next time I travel so it’s cheaper than uk prices
I loved my hero 7 but I cracked the touch screen, so I bought the 10 to replace it. If I didn’t damage my 7 I wouldn’t have ever upgraded, even after owning the 10. I tested them both side by side and unless you off road bike or run with it, the slow motion looks kinda bad at 2.7k 240, the hero 7 looks almost as good at 1080p 240
Wouldn't a bigger sensor on a camera of that size with a lens that small be a headache? They'd have to make the sensor pixels smaller or add a bigger sensor which would mean a larger camera. Smaller pixels require more light go pass through the lens and if it doesn't get it then the frames will look darker. And let's not forget that it would also require more power to run which would kill battery life and cause more overheating than it already does.
After the latest GoPro labs firmware, it's amazing :-) Lot of cool features to play with. Battery lifetime is bad in cold weather but other than that it's a killer camera! If you need higher resolution, go for it or stay in the Hero 9.
Hi Jan! Could you confirm whether the hydrophobic lens cover from the HERO10 fits on the HERO9 as well? Because if it does, HERO9 owners can just buy a replacement HERO1q0 lens cover and use it with the HERO9. Thanks!
My last Gopro was the 3+. I went ahead and got the Gopro 10. The only issue with the Gopro 10 is the hypersmooth in low light condition when your walking. It creates shaky video. You might as well turn off the hypersmooth and mount the Gopro 10 onto a stabilizer. That would solve the problem. Also using a stabilizer will solve the cropping issue when you have the hypersmooth activated. Turning off the hypersmooth would give you a wider field of vision.
The last GoPro I bought was the hero 10 and the one before that, hero 7 blk. So far, pretty good. I also got the Sub. So it was cheaper… I haven’t got to the level of filming to make this conclusion… Am not sure about this company releasing a camera every 12 months either. Take a page out of GoPro max. It’s as though it cheapens the camera? In this case this is more like a GoPro Hero 9 +
I have owned GP3,4,6,7, and 9. The poor engineering of the “MAX” lens for the 9 convinced me to wait for Osmo Action 2. But also the Insta360 GO2 is crazy small and great for action!
Hey I’m still rocking my hero 4 silver and I’ve wanted a new GoPro for the longest time and I was wondering just how big of an upgrade it is to go from the 4 to the 9?
@Fuzzywuzzy05 looks like October / November release. Since DJI doesn’t release more than one product at a time and the Mavic 3 looks like a November release…
This new processor can do much more but its holding back for next few years, that's the marketing strategy of goPro and making use of USPs in the future Maybe GP 12 will significant upgrades
that's correct, the 9 signified the ultimate culmination of the capabilities of the Gp1 chip. So it is to be assumed that the new Gp2 is equipped in this version for everything it can deliver and they will develop their capabilities in the next generations. Gp1 lasted four years to get the most out of it. I think the Gp2 will be kept by another three more. sorry for my bad english, i'm using translator. Greetings.
I’m still with my Hero 7... before the 10 was released and I heard the specs I was mind-blown for the new release, but now.... meh!.... what I really would love is for that hydrophobic lens to be made for the Hero 7!
But...now I WANT this GoPro 🤣🤣🤣 but I will wait till Boxing Day sales... I'm excited.. the question is how can they improve this camera going into the future... 1inch sensor????
It seems you are confused. This is an action camera, so people are buying this to capture action. That means super fast frame rates that GP10 first time offers. Also you dont need 1inch sensor in this kind of camera. If you do - then you dont need an action camera at first. You mentioned so many times this is mind-blowing - so it seems like a clickbait to me.
The Hero 9 is much better if you plan on using your camera for more than 20 minutes. I bought a Hero 10 and it over heats really bad. I just bought 2 Hero 9's and I'm returning the Hero10.
Not worth it. I can't believe that I need to buy the media mod and an adapter to be able to use an external mic. Akaso cameras accept external mics without any extra garbage, why can't Go Pro also offer it? There is no way I'm going to be carrying all that extra junk. I wanted to get the 10 but until they fix this basic feature I'm going to keep buying and using Akaso. So disappointing.
I have both. I still use the Hero 7 but the Hero 10 is smoother in hypersmooth. I mean, I can have wider view and still having better hypersmooth. Higher bitrate is also great. Other than that the Hero 7 is a great camera!

GoPro 10
I do a lot of 3D animation, VFX and 2,7k with 240fps sounds amazing, will this be worth it?
Most people using a GoPro use it for action video (cycling, running, surfing etc) not for blogging. It is easily the best for action sport.

Still rocking my 5 year old hero session 5. Lol. Surprisingly after 5 years of fpv drone racing and freestyle it still going. Battery doesn’t hold great anymore but still works perfectly. And if I need another can get a refurb for $125 😋
I wish that they kept the session line alive. I really liked the small form factor but I guess it wasn't popular enough to keep it going.
Still use my Hero 5 Session, works perfect and after 5 years it will still record 2.7k stabilization on, for over 1 hour.
@@Sulfen the reason they got rid of the Session Cube was the internal battery, when the battery dies it's a paper weight.
Ahhh, I didn’t own any go pro prior to buying the hero 10, would it be worth it? I got the accessory bundle with 1 year subscription for $599 AUD
in NL the samething costs 429e now
I have a GoPro 10. It’s my first action cam and it is awesome. Takes time to learn how to take good videos but this cam is phenomenal.
Excellent Video
I want to start a travel vlog...i dont own Gopro.. do u think gopro9 would be sufficient for normal travel viedeos and editing. plz suggest.
What could you need 8K for?
@@baddriversofthenorcalarea500 haha right he said he don’t need 5k but he need 8k LOL the best go pro thus far!!!
I’ll take the 7 lol
Do you know if the gopro 8 still has the preview on smartphone while recording? Because the 9 and 10 does not have this feature like it had with the gp 5. i love that feature and its the reason why iam not interested in the 9 and10.
Ive never owned a GoPro before, but i am thinking about getting a Hero 10 (or knowing me i may end up with 2, or even 3)
(I’ve only had the cheap clones, which aren’t great, especially when they only record at 30fps and record each frame twice to try and make it seem like 60fps, i think one of the cheap cameras i have has the option for 720p 120fps, although i have not been able to verify the actual frame rate, as it could be 60fps and doubling the frames
I have 3 of those cheap cameras, the first one i got has options for 4k 25fps, 2.7k 30fps, 1080p 30fps, 1080p 60fps (not actually 60fps), and 720p 120fps (unable to verify frame rate), the second camera has the same options, apart from the 4k being 30fps instead of 25fps, and there is also a 4k 30fps EIS option, the third camera i am unable to find right now, so i cant check what options it has, but that third one was the only one where the 1080p 60fps option was actually 60fps)
I have a hero 4 black should i buy ?
Well, i have the GoPro hero 8 black and honestly it is WAYYYY enough for me ( normal day vlog, going outside for hours )
I also bought a second rechargeable battery for it for very long journeys in case the first one dies.
I followed all your recommendations for the GoPro hero 8 video quality for vlog, cinematic, activity, and i am very thankful for this:D
I have no plans to upgrade to the 9 or either the 10, the 8 is just enough and many people should know it ( even the 7 is still great ).
I'm thinking about upgrading from the 8 to the 10, as I see the 10 as a 9 but with the problems ironed out.
I heard the front screen shuts off while recording... is this true? It would be a bummer. Thank you!
It's best to shut off the front screen to save battery life if you plan on not selfeing yourself and yes it does get hot when recording a lot.
Would like a camera to hook to my bow to film hunts
Any suggestions???
yes, but would you upgrade from 8?
How about Go Pro Hero 10 for $350 Brand new? good price to buy?
Also considering the weight of camera, GoPro Hero8 is a pretty good camera for FPV 👍
Hard to replace the lens when it cracks tho.
does it lock up every time you use it like my H7?
Yep good idea:)
@@JeremySmithOfNewScotland Thanks for sharing.
I own a hero 4, thinking of getting hero8 for pov fishing and cinematic.. what do you think sir?
I have gopro7b ... won't change the device until GP provides a 1inch sensor.
Same, I love my hero 7
Yeah many are waiting for the 1 inch sensor...
I have the 7 and 8 and was thinking of selling them for the 10. I need to look In the low light shooting.
Welcome back Jan! You been ok?
The GO10 is well over $600 in New Zealand, and that’s with the cloud subscription. $850 in the shops!
Just bought the 10 and have to say it is the fastest, most responsive GoPro I have ever owned... one test in I am very impressed with it!
True!
After the latest GoPro labs firmware, it's amazing :-) Lot of cool features to play with. Battery lifetime is bad in cold weather but other than that it's a killer camera! If you need higher resolution, go for it or stay in the Hero 9.
I am thinking to buy Hero 10 lens cover and use it on my Hero 9 for that water thing
It's amazing!
Hi Jan! Could you confirm whether the hydrophobic lens cover from the HERO10 fits on the HERO9 as well? Because if it does, HERO9 owners can just buy a replacement HERO1q0 lens cover and use it with the HERO9. Thanks!
Yes it is interchangeable
I hear they're all overheating.. Thinking of buying a different camera instead
You think 500 is bad? It's going to be sold for $740 here in India. :(
same in iran :/
i would never buy go pro again my hero9 black just suddenly turned itself on and it wont charge and turn on back again which is very annoying
Never heard a guy do vocal fry so much. Kardashians would be proud.
That drives me nuts!!!!
Lol
Vocal fry makes people sound unbelievably unreliable…
U blow
Have you ever watched Alaskan Bush people?
Really nice and useful vedio.... thanks for the advice
It's the battery issue with 10 still here?
Bro can you suggest a good gimbal for gopro ❤️✌️
I have owned GP3,4,6,7, and 9. The poor engineering of the “MAX” lens for the 9 convinced me to wait for Osmo Action 2. But also the Insta360 GO2 is crazy small and great for action!
Is there any news on Osmo Action 2 ??
Hey I’m still rocking my hero 4 silver and I’ve wanted a new GoPro for the longest time and I was wondering just how big of an upgrade it is to go from the 4 to the 9?
But the image quality is worse compared with gopro 10. I own both.
@Fuzzywuzzy05 looks like October / November release. Since DJI doesn’t release more than one product at a time and the Mavic 3 looks like a November release…
what if I don’t own a gopro - can’t decide between the 8 or 10.
Greetings.
I have the hero 3, should I upgrade?
Definitely!
I just bought a Hero 1 on eBay for $40.
350 now, worth it?
Still no live image on gopro and iphone when recording. My Osmo Action does have this.
Got mine for free in a raffel... I like my 21+ more tbh, more convenient.. maybe I should have sold it and not opened it and use it once
i never owned a go pro im planning on getting a 10 for vlogging and POV footage
I’m still with my Hero 7... before the 10 was released and I heard the specs I was mind-blown for the new release, but now.... meh!.... what I really would love is for that hydrophobic lens to be made for the Hero 7!
You can just spray RainX or something on the 7 lens
furstyferret81 I'm gonna try this method 👍🏻
But...now I WANT this GoPro 🤣🤣🤣 but I will wait till Boxing Day sales... I'm excited.. the question is how can they improve this camera going into the future... 1inch sensor????
Thank You For being honest you got to the point for what we want to go pro for. I’ll keep my GoPro 8,
And the hero 9.
You say it's trash, then how good it is at something else over and over again. I'm extremely confused.
is that a rode mic ? what boom is that?
Why they drop the price from £570 to £370 ???
I think this is not the best video If you want to get hold of the GP11 for testing LOL
Just kidding, I think you are right in all your points.
Haha nope it isn't at all, but I don't care. Better an honest review than a fake one just to get a new camera
The Hero 9 is much better if you plan on using your camera for more than 20 minutes. I bought a Hero 10 and it over heats really bad. I just bought 2 Hero 9's and I'm returning the Hero10.
I found one for 400$ is it a scam?
Thank you for sharing nice information
Not worth it. I can't believe that I need to buy the media mod and an adapter to be able to use an external mic. Akaso cameras accept external mics without any extra garbage, why can't Go Pro also offer it? There is no way I'm going to be carrying all that extra junk. I wanted to get the 10 but until they fix this basic feature I'm going to keep buying and using Akaso. So disappointing.
Why my GoPro9 quality is not that much great?
$500 is “incredibly expensive” ?? 🤔😱🙄 Not seeing it that way myself.
I feel like they held back the improved processor on the 9 to use in the 10, while they worked on a crazy new 11. If that makes sense. lol.
If GoPro 11 doesn’t have a bigger sensor then it will be a fail.
Let's hope so!
I have the 7, I do use it a lot for my Videos, vlogs etc. it does give me some issues as well. Love the 10 features. Might have to get one.
I have both. I still use the Hero 7 but the Hero 10 is smoother in hypersmooth. I mean, I can have wider view and still having better hypersmooth. Higher bitrate is also great. Other than that the Hero 7 is a great camera!
What about the over heating problems?
@@thomasgowen8298 I live in Finland. No overheating yet 🤣
@@Jcool721 thanks! I keep hearing they overheat after 15 to 20 minutes and the batteries whear down fast.
I am still hoping that they would fix the wind noise to upcoming versions. The one that no need to put a wind slayer
The video does not even mention zooming capabilities. I would never buy a video camera that cannot manually zoom while in video mode.
Its impressive but I think we are like 2-3 more iterations before Id be really sold on buying one.
By that time they will cost $1,000 new lol
I don’t feel like the price is a good reason not to buy a go pro 10.
Thanks
