PHO Learning Exchange: Sharing Experiences, Building Resilience for the Future: A Learning Exchange

Learning and evaluation are essential elements for building a resilient public health system. After-action reviews (AARs) assess emergency responses and capture opportunities for improvement. This interactive learning exchange will share key findings from Public Health Ontario’s rapid review on AARs and provide a platform for three of Ontario’s public health units (PHUs) to share their experiences implementing AARs focused on COVID-19. The final segment of the session will involve a facilitated panel discussion, where presenters will answer questions to inform public health emergency preparedness for future responses.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
• Describe best practices for conducting AARs as part of public health emergency management;
• Compare and contrast different approaches that can be used to conduct AARs;
• Discuss barriers, facilitators, and strategies related to conducting AARs to support management of public health emergencies.
