Just finished this last week. Phenomenal! I had actually watched your video before going but it just doesn't compare to seeing the Ice Fields from Paso del Viento in person. It's overwhelming to say the least. there are no words in the dictionary to describe it. congrats on doing this tough hike twice Steve!
BackPacker Steve Ha, on my trek I was actually wondering how people could even think about doing it twice. But now I see why. it's truly one of the best (if not the best) hikes one can do. so beautiful and and not crowded at all. so many unique landscapes. for instance that beach on Lago viedma is so secluded, and how often do you have a beach of glacier water (next to a glacier itself). if the trek weren't so tricky (with the weather) I wish more ppl knew about it. you're right, if I return to Argentina, it will be a priority of mine (not this year, but definitely years down the road) was also pleasantly surprised to see on your first huemul video that you had stayed at hostel aylen aike (where I also stayed last week!).
Really!? You stayed with Sebastian? What a crazy, funny guy. Back then I was hanging out there for almost 2 weeks. I really loved Chaltén and its vibe...maybe this is the main reason I came back. But yeah...that slippery downhill part to the lake is a beast! ;)
BackPacker Steve Sorry just seeing your reply now for some reason. Yeaaaa Sebastian is the man! What an interesting personality. Gets to know everyone in the hostel and he's so chill. I was in Chalten for 10 days. You're right, it has a unique vibe. It's not as touristy as Torres del Paine yet has just as much beauty. I agree with you in that I could definitely see myself returning there if I were to return to Patagonia. Hope your travels are going well!

Hello, love your videos. I am planning on doing this circuit next week as the start of my Patagonia expedition. I am curious to know how long the hike was on the last day. When did you start hiking and when did you arrive back in El Chalten?
My hiking partner and I left from the Paso del Viento Refugio Shelter (where you'd normally start at the beginning of the 3rd day) at like 7 AM and arrived back in Chalten at almost 11pm. So we did 2 days in one. It was absolutely brutal and we only did it b/c we needed to be back in Chalten early next day. Otherwise I'd say it would take anywhere from 7-10 hours for that last part.
Wow!! Yeah, that's a haul!! Plus you missed camping on the peninsula and hearing the glacier calve during the night. We just got back from Patagonia and the Huemul circuit was just breathtaking and pretty intense in some places.
Camping on that peninsula would have been fun. Only, there was an absolute ridiculous amount of wind there that day so even if we wanted to it would have been difficult. Glad you got to experience the Huemul though--easily the highlight of Patagonia in my opinion.
Hey Steve, really nice videos! Thanks for sharing. One question, did you rent the harness on El Chalten? If so, can you tell where and how much (+-) was it? Thanks!
Phew..the price was per day but I can't really remember it. I got the harness from Merlin at www.mount-patagonia.com/ - lovely guy who will give you a bit more info or even a tour if you want!

Congrats on tackling that one - an experience you'll always remember. Maybe you'll do it again one day ;)

Amazing to see ice lower than non ice capped mountains. Did you guys ever get lost there?
haha, luckily not...but it was my second time there and we had GPS with us ;)
good video! what did you use for navigation? what app?

Si puedes ir en el mismo camino pero necesitas un companero/a por seguridad...para caminar en el campo de hielo necesitas un guia!
What is the background music of this video? i like it.
Hello Guillermo! I love the backgound music too! Did you know what music are?
Is this descent on 4th day is really hard? We think about this trail but I'm affraid this descent (especially when is bad wheather).
awesome! I have a few questions.... does it cost a permit to walk there? do you think one harness for two persons (one after the other) is sufficient?
Hi! The entrance in totally free! You must check your harness with the parkragers before leaving, and one its okay!
@@aneleyivaldi6455 thank you good to know!!
Hi there! Can you tell me please in which month of the year did you travel in this trail?
Hello, love your videos. I am planning on doing this circuit next week as the start of my Patagonia expedition. I am curious to know how long the hike was on the last day. When did you start hiking and when did you arrive back in El Chalten?
Phew...that's hard to say. We had breakfast at sunrise and started right away...I guess we got to Chaltén by 4/5pm!

very nice hiking place.
Hola Steve, te hago una consulta: es necesario contratar un guia para ir hasta Paso del Viento?
no..pero tienes q tener un arnés de seguridad y cuando no tienes mucha experiencia esta absolutamente recommendable tener un guia!
Muchas gracias. Lo hicimos en Diciembre. Excelente!
what time of year did you do this??
As most of my Patagonia trips this has been done in late summer/early autumn. March / April that is 😉
Solo or guided hike?
¿hicieron fuego (ver minuto 2)? està prohibido hacer fuego, fumar, etc.
No está permitido hacer fogatas o fumar, pero en los campamentos sí está permitido utilizar los hornillos a gas.
How does that glaciel water taste?
It's the freshest, purest taste you can experience!
What’s the name of the song?
What is the football jersey?
Ha! That's the german national team - I actually used that shirt bc of the fabric it is made of which is perfect for hiking as it dries fast.
