I noticed an amusing detail in the cutscenes from Generations: at the beginning of the game, Rouge and Knuckles are having a friendly chat at Sonic's birthday party. Later, Rouge and Shadow show up to the final battle together. Then, after everyone ends up back at the party, she's talking to Knuckles again, but when they're waving goodbye to Classic Sonic, she's next to Shadow again. That bat really can't make up her damn mind, can she? It's like she's Archie and they're Betty and Veronica (lol).
I know that some people are like "Oh my gosh NO. It's Knuxouge FOREVER!!" but in all honesty, I just don't see the connection between them. I mean, flirting with someone is one thing, but to actually properly communicate and bond with them is what builds a relationship. This is why I ship Shadouge. All Rouge does with Knuckles is tease with him, but she actually teams up with and talks to Shadow. Remember that." "I will." And the fact that he stopped walking to reply too, the camera moving from his feet up to his face before he spoke. I LOVED IT. rouge is basically a damsel in distress for shadow. these two care about each other very much and do what ever it takes to keep each other safe. these to have a very long history together.there interactions are so cute whether rouge calling shadow a prince shadow saving rouge or saying that they'll always be there for each other. shadow and rouge have the strongest relationship in the sonic series tied with sonic and tails and who can forget sonic and chilidog. knuxouge is just flirting which doesn't build a relation ship. rouge even tried to ask shadow to do treasure hunting with her and she was pretty persistent with it. that sounded like a date

What sounds more like a date is when they were competing in Sonic Free Riders (2010). There wasn’t any sign of information about it the GUN agency needing them to figure out what’s going on with this. So It wasn’t even a mission of theirs at all, of course. Btw it was just the two of them, and it did like they were getting much closer to each other than in the previous before this one

And i agree with you about the last thing, rouge is the most important person to shadow, but i don't think is a replacement for maria, i know shadow loves both of them in different ways, and just as he wanted to protect maria he'll protect rouge. Scepter is clearly in the subtitles and the item in question was like a creepy totem idol anyway, not even remotely a book of darkness, lol. My point is pretty simple, Rouge might have some inkling of love for him, and if she does she can clearly keep it in check, especially considering Shadow's attitude that can infuriate her. Regardless, between the two of them, there is a stronger friendship than towards anyone else. Rouge generally shows more concern for him than other characters. So who can say. She might have feelings for him that she knows better to keep to herself, they simply bonded as best friends, or she looks at him like an idiot kid brother and wants to see him be better than his past, much like I can see herself doing.

Shadow actually rescued Rouge because he somehow remembered Maria (the emerald thing was a detour, it was no accident that Maria's flashback came out when he rescued Rouge). Another noteworthy point is that Rouge acts normal with him, she doesn't flirt with him or anything, why would it be? when somenone knows u very well whe dont have pretend and that is an important point to strengthen ties... (you will say it is because they are like brothers) maybe yes, but it is part of the development of a possible couple, because apart from Knuckles she flirts with everyone but with Shadow she is different, she does not have to pretend or act like that. What I mean, is that Rouge is the one who gets Shadow the most, besides Omega whom I think they share a brain for hating Eggman. She knows there is good in him, and whether or not she'll be the Bulma to match that Vegeta-sized Ego of his, doesn't matter. Rouge is one of the few that can appeal to Shadow's Sense of justice, despite it often being swallowed with desires of revenge and feelings of pride. Prime Example Shadow: "Don't tell me what to do!" Rouge: "I'm not- - its your choice, and you're the one who'll have to live with it" Rouge then leaves with Tails to complete their own objectives. Shadow is left looking back with a shocked expression. Now, I'm sure he had to think up some excuse of course, his ego just doesn't allow charity work, lol, but he took those words to heart. (This is from Issue 36 of the IDW comics) Shippers can think what they want, but it just honestly proves that if anyone GETS Shadow, its Rouge. She is, his closest friend whether he'd admit or not.

That's very true. While I'm open to shipping Rouge with Knuckles, it's always bothered me that most people who ship them seem to do so _because_ of the instances when they argue and fight, as if that in and of itself constitutes romantic tension. The cutscene at 12:23-13:54, on the other hand, definitely gives me romantic vibes (although that may be subjective). Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I need some kind of indication that two characters actually enjoy each other's company (which is probably why, when it comes to Rouge and Knuckles, I prefer more recent depictions of their relationship).
Shadow and Rouge’s relationship is considered passionately companionate. That’s the one thing that describes their chemistry altogether. I love Shadouge. They care about each other a lot, and and I got the feeling that they’re already canon. There’s nothing that other people can do to change that now.

Hm after a long and good analysis on these two as a Knuxouge fan I can understand WHY people ship these 2. Rouge only acts flirty around Knuckles as an act or to get the Emerald at times but she's more normal around Shadow, they actually communicate and spend more time together. However what alot of Shadouge fans like to forget (no offense to them or anyone else who likes this couple) is that Shadow is IMMORTAL, he can't age. Shadow probably wouldn't want to get that close to someone too much because Rouge will continue to age and then die. Unless if Shadow got killed earlier on he would live for a very long time watching everyone else grow old and die while he just doesn't. Plus he's like 3 years younger than Rouge. Rouge is 18 while Shadow is 15. I mean there IS sort of too big of an age gap there. This is why I don't ship Shadow and Rouge all that much, now chemistry and relationship wise they probably would make a very good couple. If Shadow COULD age and was a bit older, I would support it alot more.
Well, Shadow being 15 is a claim that gets repeated on a bunch of fan websites, but doesn't seem to have a credible official source. It's probably not canonical. As for him being immortal--yes, he would most likely outlive Rouge eventually, but that can happen in any relationship. They would still have many happy years to spend together. As Sonic once said, "I know it's kinda sad, but... that's why we gotta live life to the fullest in the time we have. At least, that's what I figure." EDIT: And now, at least for the moment, _none_ of the characters have official ages, so that's a moot point.

Anyway, when Rouge saves Shadow in Sonic Battle, he says "I can't allow myself to die _just yet_ [emphasis mine]." I don't think he plans on living forever.
There are two types of shippers. The first are the analytical types that like to break down and really think about two character’s relationships and whether or not they’d be worthy or dating or even marriage. I’m one of those myself. The second is the half-brained but kind-hearted shippers who put people together simply because they look cute together. Sometimes a good ship may look decent but if 90% of the time you’d only need two seconds before realizing that the ship is stupid, defies both characters personalities, etc. Both shippers are in the comments right now.
Shadow prevents it. But that doesn't change the fact that Rouge is the girl for him. Shadow just isn't ready for love yet. Rouge waits for him. No matter whats happens in the future, she's always on his side. Let's not forget one thing though: Tails is property of Rouge.
At first I thought because the Sonic movie franchise is a loose canon, Rouge may not be in Sonic movie 3, but then again I don’t know. Afterall, she was the one ordered to find out more about Project Shadow.
My prediction is that she'll be introduced in the Knuckles series on Paramount+. As Knuckles' rival, she would be a logical choice for an antagonist. After that, they could use her in the third movie without having to spend too much time establishing her (so they could keep the focus on Sonic and Shadow). This is, of course, speculation on my part, but should it come true, I reserve the right to gloat about it (lol).

Remember, though--neither of the movies was a direct adaptation of one particular game, so the show probably won't be, either. And they couldn't really do that with Knuckles Chaotix, anyway, because the main antagonists were Eggman and Metal Sonic. (If Jim Carrey reprises his role as Eggman, it will be in the next Sonic movie, and this universe doesn't have a version of Metal Sonic, yet.) Besides, the movies seem to have taken some inspiration from Sonic X, which also introduced Rouge before Shadow.

Rouge is one of the few that can appeal to Shadow's Sense of justice, despite it often being swallowed with desires of revenge and feelings of pride.

Rouge then leaves with Tails to complete their own objectives. Shadow is left looking back with a shocked expression. Now, I'm sure he had to think up some excuse of course, his ego just doesn't allow charity work, lol, but he took those words to heart. (This is from Issue 36 of the IDW comics) Shippers can think what they want, but it just honestly proves that if anyone GETS Shadow, its Rouge. She is, his closest friend whether he'd admit or not.

That's very true. While I'm open to shipping Rouge with Knuckles, it's always bothered me that most people who ship them seem to do so _because_ of the instances when they argue and fight, as if that in and of itself constitutes romantic tension. The cutscene at 12:23-13:54, on the other hand, definitely gives me romantic vibes (although that may be subjective). Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I need some kind of indication that two characters actually enjoy each other's company (which is probably why, when it comes to Rouge and Knuckles, I prefer more recent depictions of their relationship).

Shadow and Rouge’s relationship is considered passionately companionate. That’s the one thing that describes their chemistry altogether.

Rouge is Shadow's girlfriend. I know that because it makes sense that Shadouge is real because of the scene in Sonic 06 when Rouge says "Shadow. Even if you believe everyone in the world will be against you, know that I'll always remain by your side. Remember that." And Shadow replies with "I will." If you don't like Shadouge, why are you here anyway? I'm not the only one that knows that Rouge is Shadow's girlfriend makes a lot more sense.

Hm after a long and good analysis on these two as a Knuxouge fan I can understand WHY people ship these 2.
Rouge only acts flirty around Knuckles as an act or to get the Emerald at times but she's more normal around Shadow, they actually communicate and spend more time together. However what alot of Shadouge fans like to forget (no offense to them or anyone else who likes this couple) is that Shadow is IMMORTAL, he can't age. Shadow probably wouldn't want to get that close to someone too much because Rouge will continue to age and then die. Unless if Shadow got killed earlier on he would live for a very long time watching everyone else grow old and die while he just doesn't. Plus he's like 3 years younger than Rouge. Rouge is 18 while Shadow is 15. I mean there IS sort of too big of an age gap there.
This is why I don't ship Shadow and Rouge all that much, now chemistry and relationship wise they probably would make a very good couple. If Shadow COULD age and was a bit older, I would support it alot more.
Well, Shadow being 15 is a claim that gets repeated on a bunch of fan websites, but doesn't seem to have a credible official source. It's probably not canonical. As for him being immortal--yes, he would most likely outlive Rouge eventually, but that can happen in any relationship. They would still have many happy years to spend together. As Sonic once said, "I know it's kinda sad, but... that's why we gotta live life to the fullest in the time we have. At least, that's what I figure."
EDIT: And now, at least for the moment, _none_ of the characters have official ages, so that's a moot point.

Course if he has children.... well the memories will live on, and I'm sure they'll inherit his longevity or at least a portion.
@@Prince_Smugarina One of punkinspice5's Shadouge comics was based on that idea, actually. One of Shadow and Rouge's daughters asks him if she'll outlive all her friends, and he tells her he honestly doesn't know, but no matter what, they'll still have each other. It was very bittersweet.
Anyway, when Rouge saves Shadow in Sonic Battle, he says "I can't allow myself to die _just yet_ [emphasis mine]." I don't think he plans on living forever.
There are two types of shippers.
The first are the analytical types that like to break down and really think about two character’s relationships and whether or not they’d be worthy or dating or even marriage. I’m one of those myself. The second is the half-brained but kind-hearted shippers who put people together simply because they look cute together. Sometimes a good ship may look decent but if 90% of the time you’d only need two seconds before realizing that the ship is stupid, defies both characters personalities, etc.

At first I thought because the Sonic movie franchise is a loose canon, Rouge may not be in Sonic movie 3, but then again I don’t know. Afterall, she was the one ordered to find out more about Project Shadow.
My prediction is that she'll be introduced in the Knuckles series on Paramount+. As Knuckles' rival, she would be a logical choice for an antagonist. After that, they could use her in the third movie without having to spend too much time establishing her (so they could keep the focus on Sonic and Shadow). This is, of course, speculation on my part, but should it come true, I reserve the right to gloat about it (lol).

Remember, though--neither of the movies was a direct adaptation of one particular game, so the show probably won't be, either. And they couldn't really do that with Knuckles Chaotix, anyway, because the main antagonists were Eggman and Metal Sonic. (If Jim Carrey reprises his role as Eggman, it will be in the next Sonic movie, and this universe doesn't have a version of Metal Sonic, yet.) Besides, the movies seem to have taken some inspiration from Sonic X, which also introduced Rouge before Shadow.

I miss this series, will there be any more? Also I know everyone will come for my soul, but pls don’t its an opinion- I personally never shipped Shadouge. In my onion, they are better as friends, I can simply not picture that couple. They remind me of siblings, or bffs. I personally ship Sonamy and Knuxouge.
