Brent Smith (singer) wrote this about the battle he fights against substance abuse and other monsters in other people’s lives. The guilt of the woman having an affair while her husband serves in battle and the sweet little girl having to deal with a that molests her.
Their bassist, Eric Bass, wrote most of this album, including this song autobiographically. They've done many interviews about this.
That entire album is layer out specially to be listened to in order. The album is a story of sitting in a room by yourself and saying "I am responsible for where I am and I have to be the one to save me from myself. Nobody is going to do this for me."
I've only seen a project like that once, being The Kid Laroi's Fuck Love album. It always intrigues me when I see one.

I believe the woman's monster is that she was cheating on her husband while he was away and he ended up KIA. The guy she was cheating with is at the funeral with her. The little girl's monster seems to be an abusive parent which is why she tries to hide from him.
And she's the same person.

The great thing about music is each person can interpret it in their own way.
If you watch the video for Get Up, you see her husband returning to military service. It’s a different guy than this video. If you watch the Attention Attention movie, her and the little girl are the same person.

To understand better you have to watch the video trilogy. The 1st one to watch is Devil, then Get Up then Monsters. It tell a whole story
This has a message of addiction and mental illness .The liquid courage is the alcohol or drug the monster plaques us.
As a combat vet that came out the other side and fights the civi life . God it’s tough to watch reaction videos by people that have no clue.

Secondly, if you haven’t yet check the band Five Finger Death Punch. They have many songs acknowledging vets. One of the best yet most painful is Wrong Side of Heaven.
The way I read this is like a time travel overlay. Her husband died in combat and he was her protector. Her dad had molested or beat her multiple times and he was the one that is her monster the liquid courage is for her as well as the gun because she feels there is no way out now that the barrier between her and her father has passed away. There are some possibilities that she had an affair on this marine but as a vet I'd like to hope not.

From what I've read about the meaning of the video is that the little you see that gets abused is the same woman grown up as the widow who had cheated on her military husband. The trauma she suffered as a child is her monster that follows her now through life. Good for you, you fooled everyone...Good for you, you hurt everyone.

She had an affair while she was married to a Marine. He died in service and she is battling her guilt. Her lover went to the funeral and spent the night with her afterwards. We also see flashbacks of her childhood when she got molested by her dad. The monsters inside us from our past often turn us into monsters due to how they fuck us up.

The woman lives with so much guilt because while her husband was dying to fight for our freedom she was having an affair with his friend and the little girl is being molested by a male figure in her life…It wasn’t “Good for u” as in ur doing great or u have overcome something….it’s good for u as in, now that uve caused so much pain & destruction are u proud of urself

You have no clue as to what this is about. The woman was having an affair while her husband died in action, and she had everyone fooled that she cared about her husband. And then the girl was hiding under her bed to get away from her "MONSTER" , which was her father. Maybe you should research these songs that you react to.
sorry but if you get abused from a parent that should protect you then do not do what this guy is saying... fight back
