Story of the world and apologia are two of our favorites too!! ❤️❤️ Actually, you're the one who tipped me off to those in the first place 😂 so, thanks!! 😍 Aw, I loved seeing your kiddos at the end 😂 too cute!!
These are cool suggestions. We use The Good and the Beautiful for Language Arts, which combines many of these elements together. I haven't heard about vocabulary cartoons, though - that looks really fun. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the review. I hadn’t heard of the Apologia What We Believe and will be checking it out. Also, I just found your videos. I so very much appreciate that you speak quickly and without a lot of fluff!!!!!!! So helpful without getting boring 😊.
Just my 2 cents here: good job coming out of the gate addressing the video topic while sliding in some details about your family and reiterating your commitment to deliver on the promise of your thumbnail 👍
Thank you for sharing! I see you linked Amazon for the “let’s read to find out” books. Amazon has most of them for around $6 each but I saw as you were scrolling through the series, the prices were more around $3. Do you have a link to that website?
Yes they have them on book outlet but I was having trouble linking to those because they change their inventory here is the website link and then you can search lets read and find out. This link should give you a $5 off coupon if you want. often bookoutlet.com/loyalty/referral/ARG5JEBy?c=url
@@LifeintheMundane I had a kid who left out vowels out of words for years... like, just no vowels anywhere. lol AAS transformed her spelling! Some kids are intuitive with these things and don't need curriculum, but some just really need to learn a rules-based approach. And AAS is actually really helping my struggling reader, too.
@@HumilityandDoxology Yes its been so helpful for all of my struggling readers. And thats so funny about the vowels...well funny if your not the one teaching them. 😂
When we started homeschooling I was like I just want to use one curriculum. Haha I soon realized that wasn’t going to work. I learned about Dianne Craft from you and have implemented the exercises for my dyslexic child. I’ve never heard of grammar galaxy. Going to check that out. My oldest daughter does fix it grammar. Do you feel S &S is a good fit for reluctant writers or is it pretty intense? She really really dislikes writing.
So for my oldest who is very dyslexic I have just held off on formal writing bc I’m picking my battles lol. He will start S&S next fall (Lord willing) but I plan to do sit down and do it with him and take it slow if necessary. I also plan to use adaptive technology like voice to text with him as well. Now that being said my other two older ones are going S&S they both have dyslexia as well but not nearly as severe. They were both reluctant writes and yet it’s been great for them. I personally don’t start formal writing until 5th or 6th grade (I’m weird like that). Now ALL of that being said just know that if you buy S&S or any product directly from IEW they have a 100% money back guarantee that never expires so if you try it and you don’t like it you can get your money back no questions asked.
@@LifeintheMundane thank you! Very helpful. My child who doesn’t like writing isn’t the one who has dyslexia but I think I’ll hold off for another year for the formal writing. I’m with you and don’t think it needs to be pushed too early.
@@homeschoollifemom That sounds like a great plan. My mom homeschooled 7 kids and one of the big things she wishes she would have done with all of us was wait to start writing till 5th or 6th and when mama says something I listen 😂
i love your videos. Question about the Right brain reading program. My 11 year old is a strong reader but a weak speller. Do you have any recommendations??? She is 3rd grade spelling and still inverts a couple letters.
Have you ever tried All About spelling? It really helps build a good foundation. If you have tried that and didn’t work let me know and I can try to help you find other options
What age do you start off with grammar galaxy? 🙂 Our son is 6 just learning to read so I wasn't sure if We should hold off till grade 2 to add this in. 🙂
I have a variety of needs in our homeschool and I look for curriculum that suits each kids!!! We’ve used a lot of phonics curriculums!!! We love AAR!!! My older kids use the fluency sheets more than My youngest!!! My older kids issues are they learn phonics and then come to words that are stumping them do we have to go over these phonics principles!!! My oldest tried IEW and it didn’t work for him!!! We are yet to use horizons math but I would use it if we needed to switch curriculum!!! We love masterbooks science and TGTB science units and easy peasy for science!!! We love science books so hearing of other options is awesome!!! My kindergartener doesn’t do science but we use books for her!!! My older kids are doing sonlight history!!!
We use a lot of the same stuff... All About Reading, All About Spelling, IEW (Primary Arts of Language), and love the Lets Read and Find Out Science books. I will be picking up the Cartoon Vocabulary book for my child who has an advanced vocab. I am also very interested in checking out Grammar Galaxy for him! He is about to be 7.
It looks great, it wasn’t a good fit for us but I know many who use it and love it. With having so many kids with special needs it just was a little to advanced
I don't have an exact number for you as these have been purchased over many years. It just depends on the curriculum. Some I bought used, some were given to me, some are from sales, and I like to use rewards programs when they are offered. The key for me is to purchase the curriculum all throughout the year and not all at once. I hope this helps.
I’m so glad you mentioned the let’s read and find out science series!!! I don’t think it gets talked about enough!
I agree its such a well done series that many don't know about
Love how this guide can work for multiple learners and in turn simplify your homeschool
Glad it was helpful!
These are great! I have four kids, and they are all different. I've loved that through homeschooling, we can use the resources that best fit each kid!
Me too!

I’m so glad to hear you are loving those curriculums
I'm looking at doing All About Spelling with one of my kids next year! We're doing Story of the World now and really enjoy it.
That’s awesome
I totally agree I go blank when someone asks me what curriculum we are using, lol. I have tried many of these that you have shared.
I’m glad to know it’s not just me who struggles with this question

She loves being on camera.
Those vocabulary cartoons look like so much fun!!
They really are, it’s honestly helping my vocabulary too
Definitely going to look into apologia science! Thank you!
It’s really so well done!
I would love to learn more about the visual based spelling, and all things auditory processing!
I can definitely share more on the spelling. That auditory processing I’m still learning but I could share what I know so far.

We’re using AAR level 1 with my 6 year old, at what age/stage do you suggest incorporating IEW?
We start incorporating it in Middle School and here is why ua-cam.com/video/93Ip_o-kvZk/v-deo.htmlsi=fAdNZrXtRaDkoW69
Hi Katie! Can you tell me about what level your kids use of AAS before switching to Phonetic zoo?
They completed level 3 before switching

A lot of the popular homeschool curriculum we dont like. So it makes it harder for us to find stuff to use

It depends on the kids. For some I started 1st and others 2nd.
What's your thoughts on some or all of memoria press?
