  • I don't expect anyone to watch this and immediately get this every time, but this should provide a good overview of getting Artillery on target using CUP and ACE.

    You may want to look into the microDAGR more. An observer can obtain an accurate 10 Digits GRID with a Vector21 connected to a DAGR. You yourself are then able to set these as a waypoint and show the direction from your pos in mils. If u have access to it during ops you maybe want to use it to its full potential ❤ great vid

    What if the target was above us and not below of 157?wiil you add 62 to 140 instead of subtracting it?

    Its not too bad, tbh I feel that the difference in elevation adjustments make it overcomplicated. There's no need. Artillery isn't accurate to begin with in arma 3. It only makes a noticable difference with mortars or extreme ranges

      As this is Artillery using ACE, the adjustment for Elevation is entirely non-optional, your shots will go off by hundreds of metres in either direction without it.
      Having ran a dozen Artillery crews in Arma since this video, without it you simply will not hit enough targets, or miss entirely, or hit friendlies.

    Is there something like this for reforger?

    let's say my Range is 1/4 of the way between the 2 ranges, Would I still divide by 2? or would I divide by whatever the 1/4 of that number is?

    • @DutchVidya
      @DutchVidya  Рік тому

      You could divide further down, it would assist with accuracy, but at this point you're hitting the limit between ultra realism and ease of use.

    Maybe include a few more elevation difference examples - 240 and 178 seems like a huge difference for only 157 feet of elevation difference. The physics isn’t intuitive (to me at least LOL)
    And I don’t follow your interpolation at 6:15. If range is 2760 , or 6/10 of the way between 2700 and 2800, why isn’t it 6/10 or 3/5 of the way from 237 to 246? That 7:41 it 242 or 243 not 240. Why would you count backwards? What am I missing?

    What do the different charge numbers actually mean?

    • @returnofthetwats190
      @returnofthetwats190 7 місяців тому

      the amount of (maybe additional?) propellant charges loaded with the shell

    I was following you up until 157. Edit: never mind it was explained on the map as the difference in elevation.

    Where did the first part of the clip number 157 come from?

      @TheRealBillBob 9 місяців тому

      Yep lost me there too: Edit: I went back to review and he was going too fast to remember everything. It was actually the difference in elevation between you and the target.

      No sir, just do the match by hand at the time. This kind of thing is all something you learn from someone else - a video like this, or another resource.

      @@chrissouthwell8806 In case you need a formula, I got one.
      1000 * arctan ((Z^2 +- sqrt(Z^4 - g(g*X^2+2*Y*Z^2)))/(g*X))
      Z is velocity in m/s
      X is distance in meters
      Y is the height difference in meter (positive is higher than your position, negative lower)
      g is gravitation
      for the +- differential: + is high angle - is low angle, use depending on how you want to fire

    Spent the last week just trying to get some damn elevation data to show up on the map, tried every gps, watched every map tools tutorial on YT. read every reddit thread. I'm genuinely getting frustrated here.

      Hm, difficulty with this is that could a mod conflict. ACE can be particular. Also, it's been some time since I did this guide, and whilst the actual *steps* havent changed, I couldn't comment if ACE has done any updates to break Artillery in some fasion. That also means every install has potentional to be different. In particular my Arma group maintains their own stable version of ACE, and does not update when ACE does - further the terrains can get in the way in backend ways that are difficult to diagnose. I recommend trying just having ACE installed, and seeing if you can get things working with that and the Vanilla artillery pieces. If it works - start adding mods back until something breaks again.
