I died laughing cause it hit so close to home, I avoided the recall by getting a 2014 then my trans synchros went bad lol
Same. Had the 2015 one and 5th gear got out with only 23k. Luckily replace under warranty with a 2017+ one
What am I looking for if they go bad I thought my gearbox felt weird the other day?
@@robertszigyarto7400 well before we jump to bad synchro, try changing fluid. Also check if your throwout bearing is not acting up. Can cause clutch to not fully disengage. If all the above are fine then synchro can be issue. When shifting into gear at speed and is having difficulty or hear grinding chance are it's the synchro. The tech that drove my car when up to 55+mph and just keep shifting in and out of 5th without lifting of clutch to check for grinding.
Id rather have a AT just to avoid these issues. MT are unreliable just Because of user error.

Fuck that motor. Girlfriends crosstrek has had so many electrical issues and gremlins since she bought it two years ago. I trusted my 20 year old twin turbo Audi over her car.

Awesome video. I myself got a used 2013 FRS for $17,800 back in 2016. I have had 1 issue from 28k to 60k and that was the infamous release bearing. She sits at 72k and drives like a champ. Best balanced car you can get this decade. It's fast enough, it handles like Porsche since it was designed after the Cayman, and it is the most reliable car I have driven. What else can you ask for? I did the recall maintenance at 63k at Toyota of Dallas and I haven't had any issues.
Biggest difference is the suspension ones set up to be tail happy n slid ones set up more for grip and keeping the rear end planted both cars tuned by different companies and it shows even more in the supra vs BMW
I feel your pain. My DD is a 180hp Celica gts that Toyota didn't even have enough sense to make it rwd. I don't think I've ever won a race either. I came close once when I dropped the hammer against a big American V8 that was coming up behind me to pass. Then I realized it was a school bus...and he wasn't passing, he was just getting off the freeway.

Not every 2013 is effected by the recall. Only the early 2013’s, you can plug a VIN into NHTSA.gov and it’ll tell you. They updated the valve springs halfway thru the year cycle, so mid-late 2013’s are not affected.
I am a current brz owner and 've seen this video like a billion times and it always makes me laugh 😂😂😂. Everything said in the video is pretty spot on 😂
That frs/brz is the oversteer king in the compact sports car segment to this day. It's not a drag car. It's a drift car. Lift-off oversteer baby!!!

For those wondering, the FA20 with a turbo is still reliable 😂 making 265 rn boosted and it’s honestly perfect for daily driving, power is there and doesn’t compromise reliability. If y’all wanna know more I got some videos!

Nah, I'm not sticking with my stock fa20, I'm going ls2 with a t56 transmission. It's only about 100 lb heavier and you get twice the power than stock, and its reliable.

Sadly, im a victim of the valve spring recall fiasco. My insurance told me they'd stop my coverage unless I did any outstanding recalls. My engine blew up (rocker arm shot out and tore a massive hole in my valve cover) and Toyota refused to pay for it. But luckily I bought a '14 BRZ engine from a local going 2jz. Was just the worst experience. Never buying fr Toyota again 😢

Everybody talks about it being slow, but it’s still faster than most cars on the road, and it’s going to outpace nearly everything on the curves.
oft adds about 10hp but fixes the torque curve so that you're not waiting for 5k rpm to start moving. hella fun car though
