    Every time I see one of your videos I want to buy everything and I have to tell myself that first I need to finish at least something I already own 😂 you are dangerous!

      The consumerism of some of the channels I follow is really starting to get to me. Imagine someone in the 1700s actually using fountain pens and ink and then seeing some guy who has like 30+ luxury bottles. 😞

      @@Tiffany-lo6hcI’d say… I want to be that guys friend, maybe he’ll give me some ink. :-)

    Wow, that is not what I expected from A&O. My Notebook Therapy 160 gsm notebooks hold up to any fountain pens and ink much better. Even 80 gsm and 120 gsm Leuchtturms are more fountain pen friendly.

      For really heavy ink coming off the bigger nib, it's expected in everything. The only paper where that didnt happen was some coated paper I used. It's good paper but has it's limits.

    I exclusively use FPs in my A&O but I don't expect to see all, or any in some cases, of my shimmers and sheens when I use them). I'm ok with that since I also do art journaling so their journals take anything I throw on them and that's what I want. Depends on nib as you said 😊 When I really want to showcase ink it's lesser gsm: Tomoe River (Sterling Ink), Rhodia, Clairefontaine, Dingbats, Staology, and Leuchtthurm1917 depending, but not often bc I love my A&O! As with anything you just have to try, YMMV💜

      you are on point! It's just something we accept and know when you mix it up when we need a little pretty in our lives :-)

    I wish I had thought to look for this video before trying FP in my A&O notebook. I tried Diamine Aurora Borealis with a fine nib on my reading log page and gave up after 2 lines as it feathered considerably. So I used Pentel sign pens instead which are not as pretty. have a different journal planned for 2025 that has no trouble with my stubborn Pelikan 4001 Dark Green in in a flex nib, but this journal I received in trade so thought what the heck everyone seems to love them. I unfortunately am not sure I would purchase another one. Especially when my SeQes and Buke journals are about half the price and don’t have the same issue.

      This is why it's a good idea to test them all out. i love my A&O notebooks so much - it's just been a little trial and error finding what works and what doesnt.

    Oohhhh I keep seeing ferris wheel press... how are those inks? Have you done an ink review?

    • @PlanYourOneLife
      @PlanYourOneLife 9 місяців тому +1

      Most of them are shimmer inks. They very pretty, but you have to be careful to choose a pen/nib that would get clogged by the shimmer. I use them, but only in certain pens.

      Thanks for reviewing the dry time, ghosting and bleed-through. Have you found that the other features of fountain pen inks (shading, sheening, shimmer) still show up well on A&O paper?

    0:28....I've yet to view a Fountain Pen Aficionado , show a dozen brands of common Paper (Moleskine/LEUCHTTURM1917/Archerolive 160 GSM / Howarmer Dotted Journal Bullet Notebook, 160Gsm ) , for Proper ink. 📖 ☑✍🏼🖋😎👍
    This is a Superbly expertly produced video...very detailed and understandable...thank you for your good efforts Mark

    Fascinating video Mark, thank you. I know I'm one of the ones that asked the question lol. I use almost exclusively Diamine Ink in my A&O notebook and I've noticed no bleeding or ghosting even when using their darkest colours. I have a TWSBI Eco with a M nib, a Pelikan Jazz with an M nib, a Kawecko Sport in F. Then for christmas I got a Platinum Curidas retractable fountain pen and a TWSBI Eco with a 1.1 stub nib. I know I'm very spoilt and I've you to thank for it, as you reintroduced me to fountain pens.

    Beautiful pen collection. I got my first Lamy in Germany back in '86. Still have it. I might even still have some cartridges somewhere. Do you know if ink degrades after a long ass time?

    • @markyourpages
      @markyourpages  9 місяців тому +1

      That’s amazing. A classic pen. I don’t know if it degrades, I feel like as long as no oxygen gets in, it might still be okay, but not 100% sure.

    Got any tips for writing with a fountain pen & ink over highlighter? That is my current struggle as the ink tends to bleed into the highlighted area. (It’s feathering) Oh I use a fine nib.
    I am new to fountain pens, loving your videos and it’s truly helpful. I really like the highlighting every second line especially in my weekly spreads, and I just can’t seem to use a fountain pen over any highlighted area

      I would get a waterproof ink to use. Then you can run over it with highlighter with no issues.
