These kits were very popular for housewives to side hustle making wedding cakes! I had one with a fountain. Easy to assemble and pretty impressive at the time!

I had one of those. It wasn’t the exact same as the one that she had. I wanted it to work, but we didn’t have all of the pieces, and we couldn’t buy a brand new one anymore or replacement pieces. So since we can’t tell if that one had all of the pieces, I am very glad that she didn’t pick it up.

It warms my heart to see you buying older crewel and needlepoint pieces. I do some of that and new needlepoint, hopefully somebody will love my pieces eventually.
I feel you. I’ve made some beautiful pieces in needlepoint, crewel and embroidery. Mine will also probably end up at the goodwill. Except I’ve decided that when I downsize I’ll sell them instead 😏!

03:00 It takes a D cell, which puts that movement as far back as the 70s, maybe even the 60s. It also needs the securing nuts on the movement tightened, so it stops flopping around like a gaffed trout. Replacment battery movements are easily and cheaply bought at Joann or Michael's or That Other Chain Which We Do Not Mention.

Is it just me? If I chipped one of my own stuff and no longer wanted it, I’d just throw it in the trash. Why do people think that other people would want broken stuff and give it to Goodwill? And when Goodwill gets broken stuff, why don’t they throw it? Who would buy that headless figurine with the flower stuck in the neck.

Sometimes you find pieces that are a little chipped up and it’s not so bad that someone wouldn’t want to buy it. Especially if it’s an expensive piece. There’s tons of pieces for sell on eBay that have chipping or are broken and someone still wants it for whatever reason. It’s saving it from going in the landfill too!
The headless figurine likely got damaged at Goodwill. It’s head was on the bottom shelf. I imagine someone tried to “fix” if with the flower. 😅
Finally another voice of reason, lol. I have said the same thing forever. I can't believe all of the broken stuff that Goodwill prices, thinking that people will actually want to buy them. And like you said, who donates all of this broken stuff?
Dia someone just commented they would buy the chipped pieces for mosaic projects. Always something to sell that someone wants 😊

That was a nice haul! I love your added comments that can be missed if you're not paying attention I admire you still working with a very full plate so close to your due date. Can't wait to see your new baby girl! I hope we get a short video later on tacked on to one of your usual videos as a surprise!! So many of us fans are hoping for a smooth birthing.

I just have to say, I'm a manager at goodwill in the bay area of California & how everything is stacked up on top of everything, they need to get that organized bad... we aren't even supposed to put anything that has been chipped or broken out to the sales floor. If you are ever in the bay area, I can garuntee that my store is well organized & also has good quality items on my shelves. Idk I just had to throw that out there...
Those glass pieces would make great sun catchers in your windows at the new house. Tie with fishing line in like a flat mobile pattern. Good pick.

At 12:27, not everything that color is Floragold. The last piece you found was the clover shaped dish, which was the "Doric pattern", this butter bottom was "Iris and Herringbone pattern".
My mom has several wax angels from our stay in Germany in early 1960's!!!
I can't believe the way she tossed it in the cart like it was nothing. It made me cringe!

The angel is a Nuremberg Angel made from wax in Germany. Mine has. Bird wings & blonde hair. Back in the 1600s a man’s daughter never came home. The first Angel was made to protect & guide her home

Yes vintage Wilton plastic tiered cake stand with swan columns. Sells for about $35. That’s probably only if it’s complete, it would be hard to tell in the store in a plastic bag

The doll with the skinny legs was made by Lori Mitchell. They sell from 30.00 to 50.00 each. Look up her site they are adorable. I have started collecting them!!

Couple things: kudos for doing things like trying to find an items "mate" and reuniting them, I do this all the time when thrifting... and DON'T TELL ME... but I'm waiting to see if the errant King (or Joseph?) finds his way home!! LOL). The chipped mug near the beginning looks to be "salt glazed" a popular technique dating back centuries... and the embroidered clock was a favourite past time of mid-century (mostly 60s) housewives all over. Great character actress, RoseMarie (think Dick Van Dyke Show) even did one and I'm lucky enough to have it as she was a close friend...

That clock in Ontario, Canada VVillage stores would be between $9.99-$14.99 CAD before tax (so $8-12 USA). I'm hitting yard sales now bc VVillage prices are too high, there's no tax and VVillage gave the clear impression they gave back to the community, like GoodWill, but they only started to announce in the past 2 years, over the loud speaker, that they are for profit.
The bag of pillars and plates might be for a cake such as a wedding cake.

The Italy brown and flower vase looked pretty with the clock. Hang the clock above a small table, cute little embroidered linen and the vase styled with small flowers. Cute!
The bunny lamp had that slightly evil leer of the Made In Japan figurines of the 50s

That is a cake decorating tier kit. It is for wedding cakes with a swan theme
David's Cookies are high end gourmet. That was an awesome piece to repurpose at Christmas. for homemade cookies!
The Avon Santa's were going for about $20-$138 each. I'd have grabbed them.
I'm constantly amazed at the amount of quality items you find in your thrift stores. Great finds. Rarely find anything of value in southern CA.
Wedding cake stand, it held two or three sized cakes with the swan columns separating them.
The swans are part of a Wedding Cake assembly kit.
Some of the glass pieces in the bag looked like lamp work. I use some bead's like this to make bracelets. They can be pricey. Your Goodwill stores best ours hand's down, for hidden gems and being stocked full.
Love your taste in glass and pottery, etc. Amazed how you find treasures among rest. Also like your details about the items. Lots of patience and curiosity on your part.. How are you feeling? Getting close to new bombina.

The David's Cookies jars might surprise you. I bought a lot for real short $ summer of 2019 and did very well with them. BUT that was then and sold at the local collectables/flea market.
My thrift store can be a little sneaky sometimes, like hiding a cracked piece in the middle of a taped stack of dishes or coasters(they got me a couple times with that one)or using lots of clear tape to hide a chip on clear glass but I get great antiques for next to nothing, so,I let them slide..😳😂
