    Hey Dominik, I don't know if you'll see this but in case you do I have a question: what do you think about the super advanced and until recently almost unknown exercises like the natural one leg press (friction resisted pistol squat) and the one leg versions of Nordic curls, kneeling leg extensions, Matrix squats, leg extension lever? Stefano Ravarino has done a good illustrative video including those movements, it's like your calisthenics beginner to advanced series but for legs.

    Can we get good enough leg and calf muscles with bodyweight only?? If so, what's the main contributing factor, doing harder exercises like pistol squat more or increasing volume of normal exercises ( box jumps, lunges).

    can we gain muscle with this routine ?

    • @melvillefletcher4332
      @melvillefletcher4332 5 років тому +9

      Gaining muscle is inevitable if you workout. These exercises, however, target explosiveness (jumping), strength (shrimp squats, GHRs), & endurance (calfs) more than muscle size.
      Generally speaking when it comes to legs, gaining muscle size only using bodyweight exercises plateaus after a while due to the limited options of exercises. The hardest exercise one can do is pistol squats & even these can become relatively easy, after which you'll need to incorporate weights in your training.

    • @inox6496
      @inox6496 5 років тому

      Melville Fletcher ok thx

    • @MassimoKokhno
      @MassimoKokhno 5 років тому +2

      lol there are leg exercises that make the pistol squat look as easy as walking. One leg Nordic curl (or even decline/inverted), friction resisted one leg squat (natural one leg press) and the one leg version of leg extensions (kneeling, standing/sissy squat, anchored vertical shin/Matrix squat, anchored horizontal shin/leg extension lever).

    • @melvillefletcher4332
      @melvillefletcher4332 5 років тому +4

      @@MassimoKokhno You're right, these exercises are actually considerably harder than pistol squats. But then again, they are too hard to be done in the optimal hypertrophy range of reps & sets (i.e. 6-10 reps, 3-5 sets). They would make for a great strength element though.

    • @MassimoKokhno
      @MassimoKokhno 5 років тому +2

      There are progressions to them that allow to use any rep range depending on your goals.
