Tbf on all sides; the teen pursued her when he was 18, legally an adult, so he's still liable. His mom has the right to be mad bc her married best friend was having an affair with her son, who said best friend knew when he was a child.
To Simone, the lady, she didn't do anything when he was young, she did not groom him and even denied him multiple times, sure it is weird; the age gap and as adults they have the social responsibility to reject and be the bigger person. But what happened while weird, is grey at best, not evil
Fun fact what she did was a felony crime at this point she's broken property that was worth hundreds of dollars amounts to probably about $1,000 2,000 in property damage and throwing things like that is classified as a physical threat which is a felony charge

And she's known him and had "access" to him since he was 13. For a Parent, there is no way to varify that your friend didn't use your trust to take advantage of your child and you don't know when those feelings of affection began. And after going behind your back for months, the friend's words or son's words about the "relationship" can no longer be trusted either.

Honestly, she was justified to be furious. This is her best friend who has known her child since he was 13 years old. If u watch the show it can also be said that while the mother feels what she feels her best friend was hitting rock bottom when the young boy pursued her. Have find out her husband is having affairs and not just that he is also gay. High means her entire relationship was a lie. She had no one to give her the romantic love she so desired. And just in that moment this young boy comes in starts giving her the attention and making her feel special. To which she didn’t agree to at first but gave in. She shouldn’t have done that. But the reaction of the mother and the treatment of this poor Karl is horrific.

The mother was a horrible friend from the start. Had the mom perhaps told Simone two yrs earlier about Karl’s affair Simone wouldn’t have felt betrayed or alone. Simone felt friendless in a vulnerable moment when she has no one cause now not only is het marriage a lie but also he’s gay so that’s going to affect your self esteem hard. Tommy relentless pursuing her and him now being legal after feeling betrayed by her supposed best friend is the only reason Simone has a lapse in judgment. She didn’t break any laws nor did she groom Tommy. The mother just needed a reason to be full on enemy cause before this she came off as a frenemy that even Tommy didn’t want anything to do with her. Tommy’s mother didn’t have to like Simone and Tommy being together but she had to respect that her son is old enough to make his own choices. The mother just wants to control and is a mean girl trying to act innocent. She’s not holding herself accountable for her own actions for being a bad friend to Simone. That’s just my unpopular opinion 🤷🏽♀️

From all the other shorts I’ve seen of this, she never groomed him, she actually told him many times that he shouldn’t pursue her as she is older and his mother’s friend, but he was genuinely in love with her so he did anyway and mom could not handle that (which to be fair, is VERY disturbing seeing your son and friend being together) and ends up threatening her son and blackmailing Simone and Karl, Which the son doesn’t take lightly…
I understand her being mad by throwing things around at her home but after that was too far especially for a man she was friends with who had nothing to do with it. Her child was an adult and her son pursued Simone, not the other way around. And she didn't try to tie him down(which is what he wanted) preventing him from having a normal adult life. She maybe wrong on targeting the husband but her anger is there to inflict maximum damage and who best to hurt but the ones closest to you. That's what you get if mess with an equally insane person.
The problem is that she's not nad about her friend getting together with the son (from what i can tell he aggressively persued HER and it was ill advised, hut consentual. There didn't seem to be any grooming or abuse involved. Still creepy); the mom is angry that her friend has embarassed HER. "You ruined MY life." She's not mad because she thinks her sister n was taken advantage of, she's mad that people could find out. And she's hurting Karl to take revenge.
The son here is not punished in any way ! If it is a mistake,then both of them are guilty!
Anger is like poison. It could be deadly. You can over react...say the wrong things...do something you would regret. And accuse the innocent..or others...without have all the facts. Thats why God says be slow to anger. Before placing judgment. You can cause more harm to the situation than the person you are accusing. PATIENCE IS THE VIRTUE ❤💯
This was my favorite segment. Mainly because Simone was my favorite character. But I did not agree with how Naomi treated Karl.

Simone wont feel remorse or consequences if the mother went after her . The mom wanted to punish her friend in a way she would feel the consequences of her actions
I haven't seen the show so I really can't comment fully on what happened there but as far as the comments go I'm kind of surprised when I suppose I shouldn't be. It seems to me that if a man dates a woman that is younger than him she's usually accused as a gold digger even if he went after her. But he's getting a high five for catching a younger woman but if a woman takes a younger man she's a cougar. And she must be a sugar mama cuz that's the only reason a younger man would be interested it seems like we are still being played by these double standards

Parent can not control adult (legally) child sexual life. I could not imagine my parents doing smth of that way when I was 18. I already lived for a year in another town in student dormitory, lived by myself. What was going in my privite life is no their matter unless I want to share.
And I see nothing special in the above relationship, another kind of discrimination in people minds... Game of Thrones seemed to be fine with everybody... of course, we are not medieval people but even then one's life was not RUINED. If so, we wouldn't exist.
She knew the boy when he was 6. She’d been around him almost all his life. It was wrong. He did make the first move at 17, but as an adult she should have left no doubt in his mind it would never happen.
As for Game of Thrones- as you said it’s a very different setting. But I’d also point out that even within the series relationships between minors and adults were not shown in a positive light.
Yes, Daenerys and Khal Drogo’s relationship “worked,” but she was literally sold to him and had to “win him over” to survive. Stockholm syndrome, not ideal! The books showed them in an even worse light
Simone did not "ruin" her life. Her best friend had an affair with her young son. How did that impact on her? What she did in retaliation was insane and beyond the realm of justified.

I'm happy to see so many people agreeing that the mother's anger was justified( not her treatment of Carl) but some of you are still stuck with the "He is 18 he's an adult" thing. A 25 year old is an adult but an 18 year old is barely out of his teen years. Tell me if it's the other way around a18 year old girl with a 40+ something year old man what's your answer then? Tommy did make the first move but Simone shouldn't have responded to that.

People need to stop using the word grooming to justify their disgust, especially since you clearly don't know what it means. This wasn't grooming. Knowing someone as a child is not grooming. It's also not abusive. You can not like it. You can consider it disgusting all by itself without the lie and mislabeling. And yes he's a teen...but a teen who in the US is considered a legal adult and who's not only able to decide who he wants to have sex with but also whether he wants to go to war.
