The USA has been lacking in dominant/explosive attackers for many years now. And the setting has been poor as well -- too many tight sets, and too many low sets, where the hitter can't even take an aggressive approach or swing on the ball. Of course, it's also a lack of quick/explosive hitters that creates this problem (a quick/explosive hitter can adjust to 'imperfect' sets and still get up there fast enough to pound the ball). These girls look anemic and sluggish. Many of them are too 'overweight' to be able to move quickly. Gabi is 5'9" but she's so quick on her feet, jumps so explosively, and is so nimble and agile in the air that she can put the ball away far more often than any US hitter. Why can't the USA produce any girls who play like the men do? Where's our female DeFalco?
