Hey, the side eye up to the ball is actually due to their preference as players! Some players are right-eye dominant which is why they tilt their head to the left, and some are left-eye dominant so they tilt their head to the right.

Do you have any videos breakdown the works you need for better circular swing, shoulder tilt, and shoulder hip separation. I actually never seen videos explaining shoulder tilt.
    Amazing video btw!

I haven't posted yet on UA-cam but I'm planning a series of exercise/training related videos detailing methods for improving the arm swing. Stay tuned!

I love this content! Could you post one of Wilfredo Leon or Wallace de Souza?

      Thank you so much! 🙏
Leon is on my list, and Wallace is on the "other" list - he's an outlier in terms of his swing mechanics. Stay tuned for more videos!

They do the side eye thing because their shoulders are naturally tilted because of the arm swing on the approach.

Hi Mr. Volleynerd. I've been working on my arm swing for a while going from using a lot of arm muscles to using more core and a relaxed arm. My question to you is the arm swing initiated by the hips rotating first and causing the shoulder to lag and drag the arm around to produce speed for the arm swing?

Just curious why do players legs curl back?

It has to do with center of gravity, and contrary movements. Because a spike is intended to impart force as far away from center as possible in mid-air, the most efficient way to do that is through rotation around the center of mass (a.k.a. center of gravity). But, if the arms/torso were the only things moving, that would cause the center of mass to spin from the inertia.
SO! Leg movement during a spike is to counteract the force from the arms to create a stable center of mass, and thus, hit harder.
