That is very true. I was in the same situation as Preston back in high school. It's a long story, but fate gave a clear shot, I didn't take it, and missed out big time. I learned my lesson the hard way. If fate gives you a shot, take it, because you may not get a second chance.

Rented this movie on a whim in when it hit video stores, knew nothing about it but I had nothing else to do that night and nothing else was standing out. Hilarious and touching, one of my favorite teen movies.

I was three, or four years out of College when I 1st saw this movie. There were plenty of perverted moments but, it was a film about the high school social scene. It is genuine, and pure in its own right. Movies like that don't exist much anymore. It made me wish I was back in High School.
I graduated in mid 2000s, my parents told me once, senior year, going off into the night on a friday in fall after a game; “you’ll miss this one day.”
15 years later, I can confirm they were correct.
@rbibbe34 I tell young people all the time to cherish their youth because they will never live those days again. There are plenty of times I think back to my youth in the 1980s. (I graduated from High School in 1991.) There is nothing I would not give to have even one day back.

I’ve only seen parts of this movie. It reflects what high school can be like. Some of these girls date guys on the football team that try and be bad boys, unfortunately, because that’s what they want. In real life, the guys who are stereotyped as outcasts, dorks, or nerds, are really the ones that try and do the right thing and are ridiculed in that way as a result, regardless of whether they play football, or are popular. They don’t tell you that though. I realise that this comment is obvious to some people but, if this is common sense, then WHY do the media and people in general beat around the bush and ask, “”Why do some of these hot girls go for bad boy jocks or anybody else that looks good to them and is “shady” instead of going out with a decent person?”” They must think that a lot of people don’t know this stuff or else they wouldn’t put the effort into asking these questions on the internet. That’s where the excuses that they like to make up come into play (i.e. “it’s not you it’s me,” “it’s complicated,” “you’re not my type,” “I don’t know you,” or the popular one, “There’s just SOMETHING about him”) Seriously, who are they trying to fool? To be fair, some girls do want a nice guy, but you have to find them.
