I don't know if Brandon Heath will ever see this comment but I wanted him to know how much these lyrics mean to me. From the first time I heard this song, it reminded me of my stepfather and the relationship we had. He and my mother had a bitter divorce when I was 10, and about 8 years later he passed away. For a long time I was too dumb and young to even be sorry he was dead. A few years later, I found Christ and it has made such a radical difference in who I am. It is impossible for me to sing along to this song without tears streaming down my face.
It's at the center of salvation. The fact that no matter what you have done, God forgives. It's an amazing message and something we Christians should aspire too.
I have to be at least 2000 of the 122,439 plays for this song. Thank you so much for this song. It gives me a lot of hope. My kidslove this song so much. My 13 year old going through a bit of a rebellious phase who is nomally real cool about hiding her feelings actually stopped reading on her IPAD, looked up and listened quietly with a smile on her face when i played it. really powerful!

I reflect on how in adulthood he still strives for the approval of his bully. I showed this to my son who has been bulled all through school. He wants to be a pastor and needless to say this isnt acceptable to the world. He's blessed with his faith and at one point he brought his bible to school saying if Jesus is my only friend then I'm gonna bring him to school. Still, he seeks the approval of the one who hurts him most. We are complicated creatures us humans but in Christ is victory..
