We LOVE these ku vids! kyde's enthusiasm is infectious. The "nihongo jozu" at 8:40 is so Dogen. I've had that ravine on my secret list to surprise my wife Olga with a bit of nature in Tokyo. It is the counterpoint to Mt Takao. Korone are like the Italian "cornetto", which is associated with the "kwason" (croissant)
Classic Kyde & Eric video, fantastic. Recently I have been watching a lot of your new videos and just realized that I have been watching your content in one way or another for more than 10 years. Such a wonderful channel and content. Congratulations guys.
Ward Videos are my favourite. I like to plod along on google earth and find the locations. There were some parks and museums i was hoping you would go to but the ravine and temple were my top picks.
I am in the neighboring ward of setagaya, just across tamagawa. Its fun to see so many "hidden" spots that I hardly knew of! The usual popular spots I know of in setagaya are the Kinuta park and the futako-tamagawa area with great shopping spots. This ward also has the best children's hospital of Japan, NCCHD, which is also one of the best in the world.
This was a nice surprise! I thought I recognized that park, then I realized I commute by it every day to work! Funny thing is I never leave myself time to go explore it but maybe I'll leave an hour early so I can take a stop and walk alongside the river and enjoy the sounds and maybe see some wildlife! It's probably well past prime now, season-wise, but there's still some fall foliage by my apartment in Yokohama! So maybe I'll get lucky! Thanks for inspiring me to stop by and actually check it out!
I wish you would have done more just around Sangenjaya. I have never been there, but a long time ago it was featured on a segment of Tokyo Eye called "My Private Tokyo" and I fell in love with the place. I used to watch that particular clip numerous times, but I have somehow lost track of it. Thanks for the ward videos. I like them a lot. Hopefully the weather will be better for the next one.
Yay new ku video, been thinking about this series so often!!! This ward definitely has a distinctive suburban-ish feel. But maaan, that spaghetti dinner made me laugh really hard. Pasta with microwaved sliced cheese has been one of my trashy lazy food staples.
I love your Ku videos! They are so good at giving a an overview of a ward. Love how Kade was incorporating a scavenger hunt element with the big things and animals.😂
Setagaya is really nice! I was also very curious about the Setagaya murder, the house is very impressive to see. Before that happens, the city was actually buying the houses here to create a park, and the family was one of the last still there. Today, the house is still here, with barricades around, and the park all around. Also you can find a pdf with all the clues and informations around this case on Setagaya website if anybody wants to help.
Knowing where you are on the train map but not geographically sums up my expedience working in London. I used the tube to get to one office but then had to visit another. I used the tube, changing lines twice. When I emerged from the station, I could actually see where I had come from. For those in London...Euston Square and Great Portland Street.
Aww yeah - Tokyo-ward video time! :) Perfect at lunchtime for me :-D Also happy you made the addendum to your tonkatsu statement - I was ready to throw down over my man at Tonpachitei! ;)
Kyde has never been so right; no bench, no park! I also fell you need one form of flora, either grass or flower based. For this reason those 'parks' Japan that you find that are basically just patches of gravel or clay (like you see in baseball fields) are not parks, but shameless playgrounds masquerading as parks. Great video where no seal was hurt.
That valley’s trails have been closed a while now. More than a year, I think? Kaminoge Station is on my “to do” list and has been for a while, because Tadao Ando designed it.
it did surprise me how bad parks are in japan. lots of hard ground and joyless steel play equipment. like some were ok and all, but so many looked tired

A real classic-type K&E video here. Thank you! 😊

Thanks for sticking with us all these years! -E
I was just binge watching your new videos last night and I get a new one today. That is nice.
Setagaya alongside the Toyoko line part of Meguro is one of my favorite parts of Tokyo!!
I love these type of videos! Please do more of these!

Always love a good Ku video! Excited to watch
A KU video!!! What a great new years miracle ✨✨ That ravine was closed off already Jan-Feb -24 when I tried to go down there. Looked beautiful tho.
Damn, I need those Family Mart socks :O Why didn't I ever buy them?! One more reason to go back to Japan.
The random adventure vids are my favorite.

i lived in a kinda ritzy neighbourhood in zurich (rental) and it had the same feel as that setagaya neighbourhood

@@kydeanderic Best Tonkatsu in Japan! ;)
3:05 that _has_ to be the house of one of the developers of the old racing game Wipe Out.
おかえりなさい!
Great start to 2025, happy new year to you both! :)
Maybe the barbed wire is for keeping birds off and not so much for keeping people out. Not sure

お帰り!楽しんでね!!
It’s so KU!!
🌼🌼🌼
I demand to see matching socks for 7-11 next time! Then Maccy D's .. The list goes on. You can never have enough socks.

oh wow, must have closed shortly after the time I went there.
Ando-sensei, cool. Also a fan here, thanks for the info (pins little green flag) 🟢
welcome to the neighborhood!
(I'm definitely not in the ritzy part lol)
haha
when in Tokyo, I stay a 15 minute walk from the carrot tower
Good just in case you need some pony bait.
日本語上手!!😍
笑
Kuuuuuuuuu!
Oh yeah, please more ku videos 😊
it did surprise me how bad parks are in japan. lots of hard ground and joyless steel play equipment. like some were ok and all, but so many looked tired
That's an accurate take. Some are good, many are aged and not cared for. It's kind of a bummer. -E
oh no done with the US?
Yea, we didn't film much while we were there to be honest. Most of the time was spent with friends and family. -E
What’s a compound????? Young people 😂
cruise the kus.
15:02 🐏🤭
17:02 In video out-take... 😏
haha most of the videos are essentially out-takes lol
the godzilla impressions made me think of the guy from dorohedoro. 🌧😄
Thanks!
