I've been colouring for several years but I'm rarely happy with my pictures. This series you've done has, by far, been the most helpful of all the videos I've watched; you have a great gift for explaining things in a clear and concise manner. Thank you so much for all the time you put into this, I've learned so much from it!
I am very happy to read this, thank you so much! I am glad that you were able to get some tips and ideas from the series despite the fact you have been colouring for a while now. Thanks for taking the time to watch 🤗💗
I binge watched all 4 videos today, letting you keep me company while I was coloring 😊. The first video of yours I had seen, you did some quick paint pen at the end and it blew my mind! I absolutely loved the effect it gave. I was hooked and got my own paint pens. I needed this video, thank you so much for it! I guess it depends on what look you want or your coloring style, but I find adding the pop to the highlights is my favorite part of finishing a picture.
So happy to see you liked this series of videos! And I am so glad you enjoy using paint pens too, I love the pop it gives. But yes, it does depend on the finish you would like to have for your page 🤗💗
Thank you so much for your time and effort to make this series 💖💖! I have seen all four parts and consider you to be a very good teacher 👌🏻👌🏻!🏆 I certainly learned a lot! You are being far too modest about your skills!! ❤🤗
Thank you so much, so glad you liked how I explained things and I so happy you picked up some ideas from the series 🤩 Thanks for taking the time to watch 🤗💗
Great series and thank you for sharing so many valuable advices. I mostly enjoyed when you explained “your way” and it resonated with me the most especially for how you pick your colors ❤❤❤❤
Have totally enjoyed this series so thank you so much She’ll. I absolutely love how it tuned out and I think you did a phenomenal job explaining the process. I think it was truly helpful and I know doing this series was labour intensive and I thank you for taking your valuable time to do this for me and your other subscribers. You are an artist honestly. Again my thanks. Much love & *virtual hugs* xxx
Thank you for the sweet and positive comment Claire. Your comments have been so encouraging. I am so glad the series has been good and I have managed to explain my techniques to you all. It was a challenging and time consuming task, but I enjoyed it! They have been long videos, and you have made sure to watch them, so thank you for taking the time to do so, I really appreciate it 🤗💗
I did watch them all to the end. Anyone loving Albrecht Druher as much as you would have plenty of information to share and I have learnt so much even though I have had my Albrecht Druher pencils (the original open stock) for over 30 years and they have travelled with me over the entirety of Australia. I love how your pages explode off the page and I have appreciated the mammoth task it would've taken to do this series. Thank you Shell, I love your channel so much. Much love & *Virtual hugs* xxx
I have watched all 4 videos and think you did an amazing job. I am not a beginner colourist but learnt loads from your tutorials. Thank you for putting so much time and effort to help others. Amazing
Thank you so much, I am so glad you still managed get some ideas from my videos and thanks for taking the time to watch my series despite being an experienced colourist! Thank you 🤗💗
I love your videos on how you color, how you finish off a page like this, ect. Adding those little things at the end really do make your images POP so much more and just seal the entire thing. I adore this picture you did. Unfortunately I already started it and working on the background I dont like how its starting out... trying to remind myself to layer and trust the process and keep going. So we will see what I can come up with.
Thank you so much, I am so happy you like the videos and how this page turned out. Sorry to hear you are not liking your page at the moment, just take your time and step away from it if you are getting frustrated. Hopefully with a fresh mind and a little bit of time, you will end up completing the page and being happy with it 🤗💗
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us all! I know you don't consider yourself an artist but I love all that you have shared. I can't wait for the next coloralong!😍
Absolutely stunning shel .. I’ve really enjoyed the 4 part series uploads .. your tutorials really do help .. I’ve kept these uploads to refer to for when I’m struggling .. your work is outstanding and all the added little details makes all the difference tysmfs 🥰
Thank you so much, I am so glad you enjoyed the series and hopefully when you need to, the videos will give you some tips and ideas you can use. Thanks for taking the time to watch the videos 🤗💗
@@shelscolouringjourney your so welcome shell your uploads are very informative so good to have these kind of uploads .. love your Chanel so glad I found you thank you so much for all your time hard work 🥰
Wow. I never thought colouring in was anything other than an activity for kids. There’s so much more involved other than staying inside the lines 😁. Very interesting and great to learn about these pens which was what my initial search was about. Appreciate your skills and sharing of your techniques. Thank you for informative content. Regards Zeb.
Oh, I am so glad I was able to give you some tips! I do occasionally struggle with Poscas...but to be fair I don't have a wide selection of colours to compare them to the Tooli-arts. 🤗💗
Thank you so much for this video. I bought the paint pens after watching your video about them but when I went to use them I didn't get the effect I expected and wished. I guessed then that I hadn't understand well how they were to be used and applied to the coloring. This video clarified everything for me and now I think I'll buy the pastel set. Again, thank you so much and God bless!
Thank you for the fourth part, it was the most inspiring for me. I don't own paint pens and now, obviously, I'm going to buy some. 😂 I loved the 3D effect you obtained by using them, I will use this technique once I'm the proud owner of some paint pens. Shelly, you have a natural talent for explaining things, I would love to watch some more videos like this. PD The completed page looks absolutely stunning.
Thank you so much for your positive and encouraging comment - I am so happy that I have in some way been able to explain my colouring techniques with you all. And I am happier that I am not the only one who could see the paint pens make a difference 😂 I was worried you all would be staring at the screen and saying 'I didn't see a difference!' lol! If you get some paint pens, I hope you enjoy playing around with him. Look forward to hearing what you think of them. Thanks for taking the time to watch 🤗💗
I’ve loved this series! When you searched your tooli-arts, did you do anything to them to make sure they weren’t clogged or dead for when you try to use them next?
Thank you, I am so happy you enjoyed this series. To be honest I really do look after the paint pens….after use I always take out the nibs and give the nibs a quick rinse with warm water so nothing is left in them to dry up and I store them horizontally. So far it’s working! Let’s hope it continues to!! Hope this helps 🤗💗
Shelly, this was so nice to see this from start to finish! I loved this video and will save it for future reference. You gave this page life and it turned out absolutely STUNNING ❣️❣️❣️❣️ Thank you so so much Shelly🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
My pleasure, I am glad it was informative. I store my tooli-arts horizontally actually, and I always make sure to clean out the nibs after use so they don't get blocked 🤗💗
Glad you find they give a good result. I thought POSCA did a pastel set, but of course the seat would be a lot smaller than the Tooli-art pastel set. Tooli-art pastel set has lovely colours 🤗💗
Just a note that might be helpful when filming. I know it can be awkward try to colour in frame but you can always turn the book if it's easier for your hand 😊
A bit of paint pen can make all the difference to a page. It's also extremely easy to get completely out of hand and ruin one. Especially if only using white. I think removing all the lines usually turns out worse than leaving it alone, gesso/watercolor ground/pen/etc leave an awful surface and pencils look terrible on top of them in large areas. If you really don't want to color with an outline, trace off the image and put it onto art paper... or scan and print it in grey.
Excellent video Shel, so packed full of useful tips and information. I absolutely love the finished page ❤

I do not really care to cover up the black. It tends to make things disappear and muddy up the object
I pick and chose where to cover up lines depending on the effect I want! I have definitely become fond of it 😂
