Cathy, thank you so much for showing the differences in colors. I would have never thought that Maple Syrup would make a lighter colored soap than Honey.
I am new to soap making and I LOVE your video's. They are so easy to follow! I have just subscribed to your channel and can't wait to watch them all. Thank you.
Great video Cathy! Got me thinking now!! SO inspiring!! You are truly amazing on how you can come up with all these classes. God Bless! oh and hugs too :)
Nice tutorial, Catie, the soap looks really nice with the different coloured layers. Must try this, there's so many on my to do list now, will have to get a move on :) Linda
Thank you so much for posting this one. We tap our trees and I always have so much maple syrup left over even after gifting all of our friends. I am always looking for things to do to use my maple syrup. I guess I better get busy. Again, thank you so much for your videos, I always learn so much from them.
I just started watching your videos 3 days ago. I have now watched them all! Can't wait for the next one. I will be making my first soap on Thursday. Any chance you can do one with oatmeal added? I am very curious to see what you come up with. Thanks for doing this and keep going with it.
Great tutorial I want to make some soaps with sugar or even fruits. I would like to know about the scents, does the soap smell like the ingredients ? And if so for how long will the scent last. Thank You
I just tried table sugar and am not 100% feeling the results, one gelled and the other I put in the fridge. We’ll see… but I have an excess of molasses and will be trying that! Thanks!
I made this soap and for some reason it was soft, out of the mold :(. I let it sit another day and it was hard enough to cut. The next day it was oozing, my guess the sugars? I rebatched it and added a little coconut milk and a teaspoon of dried coffee grinds. The process turned it a very pretty chocolate color. Right now it smells divine, and although it has hardened some more, it is still pliable. And, it's been sitting 4 weeks! Yikes! Is this normal?
ooooo so yummy !! love this, im gonna get me some molasses only thing im missing :) Thanks Cath , and I hear you Linda I got a million on the to do list hehe and Teach keeps coming up with all this wonderful soaps making my list even longer :D x Mariella x
Soaping 101 I recently found out that adding sugar or honey and molasses can be harmful the soap can give off carbon monoxide gas my soap instructor told me this
I have a question regarding alcohol and glycerin tinctures, can I add them to the soap trace to get the color or the scent? And to extract the scent and colors from leaves 🍃 and flowers petals
I am trying to copy a soap I have and it has molasses in it. When do you put that in? It is a very dark bar and smells like cinnamon heaven. I want to recreate it but not sure how to start.
Do the sugars give off a natural scent? or would you recommend adding a fragrance or essential oil? Sorry if someone already answered this question.. I didn't go through all the comments. Great videos. Thanks :)
Is it true that sugars enhance the bubbling quality of soaps? If my base oils do not produce a soap with many bubbles, how much and which sugars can I use to improve bubbles please? Should I aim to use sugars with the highest sugar concentration? How can I rate the concentration (from highest to lowest) please? (honey, molasses, maple syrup .... ) What else? Thanks
RE BUBBLES: If you add powdered white powdered sugar AFTER trace (to minimize its darkening effect), will it still have the effect of adding bubbles to the lather?
Hi I made this soap this last Thursday and put it in the frig. When I took it out yesterday it was too soft so I put it back in until Sat. evening. I went ahead and cut it but it was still way too soft! And the colors are lighter than yours even though I did it the same. Did you gel yours?? What can I do to help it firm up now? I don't have access to an oven except my little toaster oven and I don't feel handling it any more is much of an option. Help!!
I made my first batch of soap ever, but I need to rebatch it because I forgot to add the essential oils. I wanted to make a brown sugar syrup and add it in to my rebatch. Can someone please tell me how much brown sugar to use when making the simple syrup. Thank you.
Cathy, thank you so much for showing the differences in colors. I would have never thought that Maple Syrup would make a lighter colored soap than Honey.
Love the colors!
It feels amazing on the skin too. I hope you will try making this one :)

I am glad you liked it!
It smells great too!
Thank you so much, I am amazed by your tutorials!
I am very new to soap making and it became already an addiction to me.
Thank you for watching!
I hope to see how yours turns out :)
Enjoyed the video! I'm really intrigued now to try maple syrup. It stayed the lightest in color which is an wonderful.
Glad you liked it.
As always, a lovely video, great information and lovely looking soap.
Thanks for the reminder!
The maple syrup contains only trace amounts of glucose and fructose which it allows it to remain lighter than the other sugars.

A little, the honey is the strongest.
Another great lesson and soap! Thanks C!

Soaping 101 I recently found out that adding sugar or honey and molasses can be harmful the soap can give off carbon monoxide gas my soap instructor told me this
Thank you for the lessons, good job. Is your bastille soap formula measured by weight or volume?
Okay here's another one for me to put on my to do list!
I have a question regarding alcohol and glycerin tinctures, can I add them to the soap trace to get the color or the scent? And to extract the scent and colors from leaves 🍃 and flowers petals
Wondering if any of each individual scent survives saponification.
Is there a danger of scorching the molasses if it is added to the lye water before the emulsification process?
hi I'm new to soap making and I love this channel, at what temperature should we mix the lye mixture to the oils for the bastille soap recipe?
It seems that way to me.
Wow! That's awesome. I've never made soap before but now I'n gonna. New subby right here! :0)
what would happen if you put in beet, carrot or tomato juice?
Loofahs are lots of fun :)
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much

How to make rosemary soap from the plant 🌱
Hi Cathy, what recipe do you use for the soap? Thanks!
Where is the bastille recipe. I searched the site but couldn't find it.
Insightful. Cheers x
So helpful! Thanks so much 😄
Do they leave any natural scent?
Do the sugars give off a natural scent? or would you recommend adding a fragrance or essential oil? Sorry if someone already answered this question.. I didn't go through all the comments. Great videos. Thanks :)
The honey gives off a very light scent. You can add fragranc if you wish. It also smells great with oatmeal & milk.
RE COLOR: How would white powdered sugar affect the final color of the soap? How will it compare with honey?
Cool video thanks for sharing.
Wonderful video.
So it’s okay to add sugar to soap, that perhaps contains fructose or glucose ect…

Is that a half oz of water to each or half oz total?
I don't have maple syrup what can I use instead?
Pls reply💐
RE BUBBLES: If you add powdered white powdered sugar AFTER trace (to minimize its darkening effect), will it still have the effect of adding bubbles to the lather?
hello how long do you keep in the refrigerator and does it take 6 weeks to cure
I can't find the bastille recipe either. Help!
Was this a 1 pound batch of soap that you used for this recipe?
Hi I made this soap this last Thursday and put it in the frig. When I took it out yesterday it was too soft so I put it back in until Sat. evening. Ali Lew what oils did you use and in what proportion?
Hi, how can we make the mixture of the lye and oil become thick like yours?
an u use dis in melt an pour soap bases as well
can you only use sugar in castille soap bases. or can it be used in other soap bases?
Can you make this with any recipe?
I made my first batch of soap ever, but I need to rebatch it because I forgot to add the essential oils. I wanted to make a brown sugar syrup and add it in to my rebatch. Can someone please tell me how much brown sugar to use when making the simple syrup. Thank you.
awesome! Thanks Teach
what can i use instead of maple
What does it smell like
Not only is it a happy surprise, but it its vegan friendly. A strict Vegan would not want honey as an animal by-product.
when is the earliest I may use the soap? 3 months?
4 weeks is the usual cure time unless it's castile (100% olive oil soap)
thanks for this info. super.
