The General Election was notable for not only the result that it produced but by the events that unfolded on my Polling Station marathon tour of central London.
First stop on that tour, I bring you a polling station in Fitzrovia where the police were already in attendance.
Things got a little silly on this one but I tried to keep it as polite and civil as humanly possible.

The woman wasn’t wrong though, labour and tories are so alike these days that a vote either way means nothing. The systems corrupt af and needs rebuilt from the ground up.
80% of the country didn’t vote for labour. No one really wanted labour they just wanted the Tory’s less. For them to get such a majority after this shows how broken and bias our electoral system is. Other Parties getting 4 millions votes and only being represented by 5 candidates in parliament? Come on now

The British people did NOT vote more for Labour , they just did NOT vote for the Conservatives , and independents stood to get the pro Palestine vote , and Reform party stood to gather the anti Conservative Anti ILLEGAL immigration vote .
Labour's share of the vote was only up my a tiny amount and Starmer himself got about only close to half the votes he personally got last time he was voted in .
Because of the First Past the Post system , Labour got a huge majority of seats , while the second party with millions of votes gets only a very few seats .
It's not a representative system , only about 30 percent of the vote went to the Labour Party.
"Labour ONLY won 34% of total votes cast, but got about 64% of the 650 seats."
Labour are therefore not popular with the huge majority of the UK population .
Err... I think you will find that they did vote more for Labour. Surely it's why Labour have such a vast majority 😇

One of the reasons I'm happy as a postal voter as I don't do social niceties to the jumped-up idiots in charge of polling stations.
Especially as they now examine your id like they are passport control. Shocking. Not that they weren't nice about it but we've managed to bite in the past with no issues. And the amount of people unable to now vote is crazy.
Wasn't that woman harassing people asking for private information ref their name and voting details right on their doorstep but said nothing to her stopping people.

I think some people were confusing their right to keep who they voted for entirely secret with their rights when it comes to them being filmed walking in or out of a polling station. They have every right to privacy as to who they voted for. They have no rights when it comes to them not being filmed when entering or leaving a polling station.

I thought that it was not appropriate to distract or interfere with people as they entered the polling station....TLA was fine, he was not doing that but the lady in the orange blouse/jacket appeared to approach people as they entered.
34 years I've been able to vote, so far there hasn't been a single party in all that time that has been worth voting for.
What are your priorities then?

Do you want a world where there is no consideration given to "rights"? In the UK we have rights which must be protected unless you want to live in a right wing authoritarian and dictatorial state.........you would certainly be complaining then.
Personally I have never registered on the voting list and I don't participate, listen to or follow any political speaking of any kind, I don't have a government and I certainly have higher morals and sense of reality than most i have heard speak , the world is a stage and I don't want to be one of the unsuspecting audience.

Really enjoyed your visit to the rather cheerful Polling Station. Advice to Stand-Off-Guy , go home to your rocking-chair and you gotta wonder if he regrets his neck skull tattoo.
People really need to learn to ignore the people at the door they are nothing to do with the polling station they tend to be from political parties fishing for info for their advertising campaigns, just ignore them and walk in

The acronym I used originally is the German acronym for West Germany, Föderal Deutsch Republik. I think.
Though, 'That One Half Of Germany To The West That Was Not Communist Post WWII', may well be less confusing, I still for some reason don't think TOHOGTTWTWNCPWWT will ever catch on.

The only obligation a person has is to follow their own conscience. It would be totally undemocratic to compel people to vote.

🤔hmmm... While there can be no expectancy of privacy in a public place, it seems that whenever a camera comes out, there can't be
any expectancy of intelligent people choosing to be filmed, by coming to stand in front of the lens, saying: "I don't want to be filmed"! 😮
A lot of people have heard of GDPR, but typically think you cannot be filmed in public without your consent. They further think you cannot be filmed entering a polling station as they confuse that with your vote inside being kept secret from others unless you disclose it yourself.

Why do these people think it's not legal to film you in public when there are so many people doing this ? Security guards in shops, CCTV everywhere. Cars/ motorcycles and cycles with dash cameras, traffic wardens, etc. The list is endless. If the BBC Or Sky were outside, would he have challenged them ?????

We had counters at our Poling station, but they were in the corridor sitting on seats. You would think Poling stations would make arrangements for them. The man with the man bag was very peculiar.

The teller in red should not stand at either side of the doorway but rather at the front set fully back. One of the polling staff's duties is to ensure that tellers do not any way hinder or obstruct the entrance and/or at any time 😎
