I noticed your profile pic is from Out of this World and I'm assuming that's you. So I have to ask, do you know or remember a guy named Aaron Stickley? He plays Baritone
1:46 that chord. Beat 1 and beat 1 only. That will forever and always be the single best set of notes ever played by brass players this universe will ever see
My favorite part of this year's show!! Crown didn't medal this year but in most people's eyes they were the best Corp in 2019! Congrat's to all the Crown members for an excellent show!
I know this is a bit of a personal preference but this ballad sounds like a song that is coming straight from the heavens. Didn’t know God has his own drum Corp😂
I'm pretty sure it's a Ebmaj(9, #11) with the #11 being added in the trumpets a little later. But yeah pretty cool chord, definitly different than there usual Bbmaj
The lady at 01:56 well describes the power and emotion of being in a circle. I’ve only been in 1 as a spectator and 2 as a contributor. The emotions are different but just as amazing.
I would have burst into tears 100%. Just to be sitting in that circle must have been the most unreal experience for those individuals. The power of that is hard to put into words.
Imagine letting someone hear this starting at 1:49 and when it’s done they ask what am I listening for 😑😑 there’s so much subtle changes in this performance that hard to get from actually playing. This sounds like something made in a computer music program
@@coleomalley5097no please don’t laugh.. I was serious. I can see my entrance and the movements and everything. I’m actually practicing in my head. I may even donate money to a local high school if their band will learn this and perform it. I’m with someone and we’re quite serious now, he mentions marriage often and we seem to agree… so… yes. You did 😊
@DECLAN DOUGAN wasn't meant to you specifically it's just that this piece is epic beautiful cool and hard-edged all at once and if you don't react to it I think someone's soul is taking a nap
Just when I think I've conditioned myself to not bawl like a little baby at It Is (opener and closer), I merily stumble across this. It's taken me countless minutes (five and counting) just to get here. The trash can beside my computer desk is nearly full of "full" Kleenex; I've brought out reinforcements in the form of a second FULL box of Kleenex, and I'm about to reach for it. In the moments of no "waterworks," I've been able to write two numbers down: 1:55 to 2:00...equaly impressive as 1:46...but the resolution to an a suspended resolution...with a single trumpet kissing the end...REALLY??? Whovever dreams these hits and songs up...Let me know what you're doing because I'd love to be able to put the sounds in my own head to paper. If I ever get the chance to meet Matt Harloff, I'm not sure whether I'll shake his hand, give him a HUGE HUG, or kick him right square in each of his shins...the way he has Crown Brass sounding should be a fellony. This rant has taken up most of my time on UA-cam tonight, so I think I'll give it one more listen...I have my Kleenex beside me, my 7.1 Surround Sound headset on, and my volume up to almost "Bleeding from every orifice." Wait...I hear my wife calling...Yes, dear, just one more listen and I'll be to bed after that." Good night all...and to you as well, Matt... :) 6/1 EDIT: I've been back nightly for "my fix," and it has officially become a habbit...I MUST listen to CC so I can sleep well. Melotonin doesn't cut it, and I don't want anything stronger. I rest easy listening to the strains of this specific song...and, yes, my wife knows that when my headset is on and she sees CC, or any resemblance, not to bother me until my headset comes off. She's learning to appreciate music for more than the "catchy lyrics" and beat, but I have a feeling that getting her to understand the feelings of DCI might be a job for the remainder of our lives. If that's the case, I'm in for the long haul...so keep pumping out great music CC! I'm ready to hit replay...and the water is already flowing...WOW...what music!
@@keemez No, just someone who understands music theory, composition, arrangement, and performance. Yes, I wear my heart on my sleeve, but at least I FEEL. Music stirs the soul, so I can only infer that you don't have one. That, or you're to much of a sissy to be open about your feelings. Either way, it's your loss...not mine.
@@keemez my guess is you didn't March brass...Matt instills passion. Passion leads to compassion, yet another thing, or two, that you appear to be lacking. EDIT: And I'm not inferring you marched CC, just that Matt's work brings the passion.

Carolina Crown 2019 flugelhorn solo
Never has a ballad hit made me cry so much until this one finals night. Such a beautiful show.
In my mind...

The 1 AJ 39 I love that guy, we had the last half of the ballad and most of the closer next to each other and we still chat every now and then.
Yeah,😢

Same chord/suspension at 1:56. Eb major 9-8 suspension.

Very talented good writing as always but the show itself especially visually is what let them down
Most? Great horn line.
Ok... unpopular opinion. Best Ballad in DCI history right here. THAT Eb 9 IS TOO MUCH, LIKE IT'S SOSO PRETTY
As you said.
Just popping in to get my weekly dose of God's hornline.
In my mind.

God's favorite corp
well the piece they are playing is based on an angels own instrument
They are called gods hornline for a reason.
1:55 A World Class Sound by a World Class Band

Wouter Elstrodt alright thanks i knew i was off on something
Also the tubas being split between the Eb and Bb helps in making this on my top 3 list of chords I have heard in drum corps
What about 1:59? Volume is phenom but to me it all leads to 1:59
1:49 put a smile on everyones face
i still get tears listening to this ballad
I could listen to hours of this

1:55 hits so nicely.
Yes a Ebmaj(9, #11) chord definitly hits harder than their usual Bbmaj
@@kennethschechter352 idk much about theory but I was wondering what made this hit sound so much different. Really pleasing. It’s rich

The echo at the end after the long sustained chord 😩🤩🤩🤩
i appreciate the people just in the moment and not recording it themselves, ugh to be in the middle of that rn
The most beautiful thing I've ever heard
Safe to say if you heard this live you probably teared up. I know I did
I burst into tears, absolutely gorgeous. Well done, well done
Whenever I hear someone say they don’t believe in God, I’ll play them the chord at 1:55. I’m pretty sure they would change their mind
Humans played that

Idk how old you are but if you’re still in HS you can go to this camp!
I've got a lot of fond memories on that field with Bob Buckner and the staff of the WCU POTM 2004 and 2005!
Thank you for this.
Best. Ballad. EVER!!!
Was this influenced by Gabriel’s Oboe by any chance?

It’s a variation of Gabriel’s Oboe
tubas on the ending chord, jesus CHRIST
dad blame shame they didn't have half of them down an octave to REALLY round it out :/
