I am 99% sure you are meant to be able to bond with all types of creatures not just Spirits. Since in most animist religions animals have a spirit too.

Bond With Spirit says you bond with "a creature that is friendly to you" or "a land environment you're in" (paraphrased). I think it's pretty intended that you can bond with the land.

And Paizo just released the animist, which can form bonds with the spirit of different terrains, so I'm not sure where the confusion is coming from.

It’s mostly that a lot of PF2e players are Western culture so the concept and perspective of Animism is extremely unfamiliar.
It’s a reason that Druid (literally the West’s animist) just isn’t played as much in PF2e or 5e. A lot of players just don’t understand/connect to how you roleplay it.
Edit: Just something I’ve noticed watching a lot of different PF2e content creators. Funnily, get confused over similar things outside Western fantasy. For example, almost everyone got confused on Wood/Metal being added as elements, showing they’re unfamiliar with Wuxing.

Emissary Familiar is so Heavy Loaded!
You get a neat (and useful) Familiar ability, and an additional one for free
Then you also get a free feat (Familiar, or Enhanced Familiar)
My issue with the Domain Spirit Feat is what if I wanted a more.... esoteric spirit domain? Like say Sun, or Moon, or Stars? There's no way I can get within a mile of any of those (or stay near them for 24 hours), but they'd be very thematic to have... which requires GM purview, making it more difficult to try to build around a specific character idea.
I love the Consult with Spirits feat for giving GMs a way to nudge players in the right direction.

The Rivethun Disciple feat from Highhelm says, "you have become aware of the friction between your body and spirit." It's not the only time that distinction, though a lot of stuff with Rivethun focuses directly on more classical spirits. It's not well explained, but presuming the same is applied to others then I take it as meaning that, say, a chicken has its physical flesh but it also has its chicken-y spirit. The land has the physical land and it has its spirit. You can bond with those spirits even while they're still in their fleshy body suits.

It's pretty neat, don't know if I'll ever play one but I'm glad it exists. Feels like we are finally getting back to the amount of options we had at the end of 1st edition

From a perspective not attached to the Rivethun order this feels very much like you're attuned to your local environment and can adapt to wherever you go, kinda Ranger-like. Arrive in your new operational location, bond with local spirits, and gain information, skill bonuses, and spells appropriate to the location.
For example, this would blend very well with a Spinner of Threads Witch I keep thinking of playing that's inspired by The Terminator: your patron is from the future *coughJohnConnorcough* sending you information to stop Judgement Day. Go into a new, unknown area and while setting-up the safe house connect with the local spirits to covertly gather local magical resources. Instead of mothballs, unregistered firearms, and local network access its status bonuses, domain spells, and insights into happenings.

One note at about 15:00, Perception is not a skill. It's a separate thing from skills.

There's no way it only works if you're bonded to a literal spirit. Spirit isn't even a creature type, so it would require constant GM rulings for each and every thing you tried to bond to if it had to be a literal spirit.

Wait, so an Enhanced Emissary gets **6** familiar abilities total?
    Familiar-2 + Enhanced Familiar-2 + (Emissary Familiar-2)?
That seems really good. You can gain the Fey Dragonet specific familiar pretty quickly.
Synchronize Spirit is def nice. Damage flexibility can be awesome.
The archetype is neat. It has a specific function for a familiar build, but doesn’t outdo other familiar playstyles. I think this archetype helps those who wanted the Familiar-using 1e Shaman by being a non-Shaman Animist who grabs Spirit Familiar and Rivethun Emissary+Emissary Familiar.
Edit: Also, make your Emissary Familiar your Bonded Spirit?

Regarding the wording at the end of Bond with Spirit, the capitalization is the same, only the most asinine GM would require you to specifically be bonded to a Creature with the Spirit trait. Rai you can cast the spell so long as you've used the ability that day. Yes, the land counts as a spirit. That is, and i'm not trying to be an ass here, literally the "point" of Animism.

This looks like it is great on a wizard that doesn't have a great in class way of getting 3 focus points. It is also ~half of the familiar attunement thesis. This is basically a way for any non-caster getting really good access to the cleric domain spells if there was one you wanted (I'm a big fan of the dreams domain, so not sure I can grab this though). Trickery/Travel are pretty good domains. Would be great to get access to the knowledge domain on a recall knowledge build. Might for a grappler/melee martial could be pretty good (the L4 focus spell also includes a bunch of resistance as a reaction).

non-theistic religions are still religious and spiritualism is an integral part of religion and can be a religion in of itself , and judging by the lore of rivethun with the shamanic practices and ceremonies and whole host of cultural practices id say its 100% a religion. also on another not im super happy with the convent stuff thats coming out in this book ive always stayed away from cleric cuz i just personally dont get many character ideas from deity worship but now that i can play a cleric that just dosent worship a god imma probably play em alot more.

Do you only gain a focus point if you don't have one? The wording is odd for the dedication feat.

    • @leetaeryeo5269
      @leetaeryeo5269 День тому

The standard read is that any feat that gives a focus spell (not focus cantrip) also gives a focus point, up to the max of three. That is, you have as many focus points as focus spells to spend them on, up to a maximum of 3 focus points.
