- Going back a few years to see Clark Gable sing and dance in the 1939 film “Idiots Delight” starring him and Norma Shearer. Rumor has it, he did not want to do this number because it didn’t fit is masculine character image. “Puttin’ On The Ritz” was written in 1929 by Irving Berlin.
This was a MAN. I was crushing on him since I first saw him. This man was the epitome of charm and entertainment. God rest his soul. 💜
No entiendo esta película. Según Clark gable era un suplente en la academia.
🤦♂️
From a bygone era. They don’t make ‘‘em like they used to. 👍
I have loved 😍 him for almost my whole life.
@@Dulcekris83 I believe it's about an older Entertainer who goes to Europe to help his Career, and reunites with an old Girlfriend.
sometimes it’s hard to believe he was so terrified of doing this in the first place as he practiced nearly everyday for his wife, carole, even when he had it down perfectly for the sole reason he was extremely nervous of getting it wrong. apparently as well, they done the ending part just in case had he fallen and gotten injured ~ i’m still joyed that they decided to keep it in.
He wasn’t afraid to do it, he was worried it would contradict his masculine image.
I’m a bit surprised the chorus girls managed to catch him when he left his feet and jumped into their arms 😂; I wonder how many times he hit the floor before that?
Always wondered what Rhett did after he left Scarlett...
BYEEE PLS MMVJVICUFI HAHAHAHA
Good one! Looked like he went to Belle Watling's um, "house" and procured a bevy of beauties for the evening. First time they got paid to stay up all night just dancing....
@@katharinedalton839 literally LOL...great thought!
LOL! Great response!!😄
Lol got a job at Belle’s whore house as a dancing boy
Clark Gable was so underrated, he was a comedic actor. For example It Happened One Night, Teacher’s Pet & It Started in Naples. It’s a shame that his abilities weren’t used as much. 👏👏👏
Underrated? He was literally the “King of Hollywood”
I love Gable’s lack of vanity.
That man was so fine. Rest in peace, babe.
If someone says, “Wow, I didn’t know Clark Gable could sing and dance.” That’s probably because he didn’t. He was forced to sing and dance this number because at this time, MGM was forcing stars to practice singing and dancing in order to broaden their musical genre.
Remember this film was released in the same year as "Gone With The Wind"
Wow
He seeems happy without Scarlett
@@mrsuns10 this film was released somewhere in January while Gone With The Wind was on December
Back when Actors did 2-3 Movies a year; as opposed to they're now making 1 Film every SEVERAL Years !
This is wonderful, Gable playing a cheesy song and dance man. And he nails the steps!
This was pure camp and no one appreciated the joke more than Clark! He was, indeed, an idiot, and a delight, and he looked like he was having a ball! I loved how the chorus girls carried him off the floor at the end. Finally, a full chorus line of women swept HIM off his feet! So funny!
and promptly dropped him 😁
RIP and long live Clark Gable (February 1, 1901 - November 16, 1960), aged 59
You will always be remembered as a legend.
This man face is tattooed on my
Leg :) seriously love him
Picture's please.
What a wonderful find ~ adore Clark as well as Gene Kelly and Cary Grant - Beautiful talented men
He did much better than I could've!
The quick pelvic thrust gets me every time! 😆😂
And Norma Shearer’s reaction! 😂😂
Go Mr. Gable! Love it! and his bump at 1:34! 🤩🥰❤Mr. Clark Gable.
I came here because Taco claimed this was his inspiration to cover the song
WOW !! I just had to see this !!! Thank you so much !!!
bless you .
This is a classic!
This clip always cracks me up 🤣... He looks so uncomfortable, but having fun at the same time 😆
I love this song and dance 🕺
Ok Clark did a bang up job here.
That’s what I love about old movies; they were always stopping dead so that someone could do an amazing song and dance number. I haven’t seen this film but based on what I have seen, I assume the rest of the movie doesn’t have a lot to do with Rhett Butler and a bunch of Rockettes singing Irving Berlin.
Though I might be wrong
lol!!!!!!
Nice to see the movie is available to rent. While they may or may not be great movies, they are oftentimes of historical interest.
この踊りを真似してみましたがとても難しかったです。ゲーブルはかなり練習したか、もしくは踊りの素質がある人だと思う。
I tried this dance, but it was very difficult.
I think Gable has practiced a lot or has a knack for dancing.
He actually did very well!
Great scene, also provided material for the Young Frankenstein parody, both are legendary. Wonder what CG would have thought of it had he lived long enough, he’d probably have gotten a kick. I’ve never heard what Randolph Scott thought about Brooks either (Scott’s status as one of the great western stars is what causes the Blazing Saddles’ townspeople - specifically David Huddleston (aka The Big Lebowski) - to take their hat off when they hear anyone mention “Randolph Scott” 😂)
There was a famous hanging or 2 he seen
He looks so uncomfortable! And I love how hsughty Norma looks when he "bumps" in her direction
Been looking for this
I knew that Clark gable was a song and dance man.
Back in the day everyone had to be!
He truly was dreamy.
He apparently did this scene in just one TAKE !
This number is so incredibly cheesy, but I can't help smiling. Clark Gable was almost never the underdog, but you just have to pull for the guy after he put himself out there like that.
I never knew he did this song. I love Taco's version.
OMG, Norma Shearer is hysterical. 😂
The king!!!
He claps so damn hard, it’s kind of hilarious. There’s nothing mincing or effete about em, those are the firm loud claps of a man. Fred Astaire could never.
Gable!!!!!!!
That one poor girl dancer sleeve slipped ☺️
Adorable!
NO LO TENIA COMO BAILARIN , QUE TALENTOSO Y HERMOSO !!!
A,REAL star
A Ritz az Ritz😍
No Fred Astaire here. His face must still be red. Hilarious!
2024年10月の現在、ここで出ている俳優、女優、ダンサー、演奏者方々のほとんどが亡くなったそうです。Puttin' On The Ritzの呪い。。😱😱😱この曲をユーチューブで聴いている僕も呪いにかかって何十年後には必ず亡くなるを考えると実に恐ろしい。。
That... Life. Just life.
It’s just not the same without Frankenstein as a dance partner
Catchy tune, wee bit racist lyrics. Rewritten and cleaned up a few years later for Fred Astaire. Check out the 1930 version with Harry Richman with an interracial ensemble that also has black skyscraper scenery dancing in the background! I recall at one time seeing it used in another 1930s movie with the original version, that included a very debonair Gary Cooper in the cast, but I can't seem to find a clip of it and don't remember the name of the movie. Maybe my memory is off, it was several decades ago when I saw it (or so I think).
Whats the name of this kind of dance I just search it as footloose dance.
Tap
Fraco que lindo esse musical
Dame Judith Anderson?
Young Frankenstein has completely ruined this for me. I can't hear this song without interjecting it in Peter Boyle's style
Burt Lancaster
Where's Gary coopah
Ritz..I thought rizz jeez😂
🩵🩵🩵🩵
and where is GARY COOPER ???
Gary wasn't in the original lyrics of the song. But he certainly makes the song better!
Quando gli attori sapevano fare tutto (In ambito artistico ovviamente)

_Istanbul was Constantinople now it’s Istanbul not Constantinople_
Excellent dancer and ladies man but that voice is for silent movies.
gerry wilson sorry but this is better than the fred assdtaire version in blue skiezs
Irrschinderhannis
He can’t sing for toffee… as much as I love him…
Let’s not go to Camelot… it’s a rather silly place….
😄
Ansonsten die Lieb Fon Wende verweht
What a man what a dance waaauuvvvvv
i think the big goon looked silly .. 😆
Sea u VK
A dancer he was not.....
A "Betty Grable". Ask Tucker Carlson what a "Betty Grable" is apart from a late film star. Clark Gable and Betty Grable and George Raft.
Tucker Carlson is a duper and in my view not a super duper. Just a duper because he has no back-up plan when asked to explain his tall tales.
Peter Boyle sounded better
Hahaha! I think even Clark would agree!
WTF?
He was terrified of the waltz scene in GWTW... especially with Vivian Leigh. He was intimidated by the fact she was a professionally trained actress.
So, the 1st shot of Gable at the bottom of the steps... You could hear the women sighing in the theater! I was lucky enough to see it many times on the big screen... The only way to see it!
Great music, your feet start dancing!❤
I did a flash mob with this routine. Myself and 5 chicks who made it great. It was truly fuckin funny. We did it at this place (no longer there) called Lefty Odouls in San Francisco. Or Lefty’s as well call it. I had a cane but went with a Zoot suit instead of what Gable wore
