I have always loved Norm's work no matter what he made. A true craftsman and artist. A master craftsman .

Anyone else feel compelled to repeat after Norm when he starts in on, “let’s take a moment to talk about shop safety…”? I have done it for years and still do it every time I watch his videos.

The style of fences, is only limited to your imagination. I think all of them are cool.

23:00 And if you go to the New Yankee Workshop today you can still see Norms truck that he trapped back there when he built the fence...

I used to watch your your TV series, scheduled my Sunday so that I wouldn’t miss any of them. This is what got me into woodworking as a hobby

And 30 years later, instead of "toenailing" the diagonal of the gate, we would use a Kreg pocket hole screw.
It is interesting to go back and watch these videos and see where we might change what Norm did with more current techniques.

2:50 and in a pinch you can pull the weight and chain off the fence and stuff it into a canon.

I love this episode. Yes, I have admired the fences and gate style at Colonial Williamsburg too and plan to incorporate that into my own place. I'm glad to see this video.
And wow, 1991-92 season. That's been a few days ago.
    Thanks for publishing this.

Love this show. Used to watch growing up.
So interesting to see how different life was back in the day when we didn't have to worry about termites. Is there a time machine I can get on. One way ticket please.

I miss it too. I watched the show every weekend. I’m not a woodworker, but I just love watching Norm build some amazing things. I’m into building Lego sets, and whenever I work on one I have an episode of The New Yankee Workshop in the background. Gives me the feel like I’m a carpenter

9:59 I'm thinking about making a fence like this. Only thing I'd do differently is after beveling the tops, I'd cut a long shallow cove in the sides for an accent.

3:47\ That's probably why you had 6 months to get a fence around your property. You started on that first day and just about finished 6 months later.

Now we need some UA-camr to make a section of that mortise and tenon fence with just hand tools.

9:59 I wonder if it woud be worth it to cut a drip edge saw kerf on the underside of that 2x4? You’re already at the tablesaw - probably couldn’t hurt.

Can't wait until ordinary people can afford to buy their homes again in America. I'm totally gonna build the fence with the random width boards and sawtooth pattern.

"It's a look" must be the most insulting thing Norm Abram could say about something.
