Just habit probably… if someone has been watching football for 60 years they’re not gonna swap it for another favorite I guess. I don’t get it, I’ve tried both and ultimate was just superior in every way(for my experience)
Because it’s not as good as American football
Marketing. And familiarity. I am sure not many Americans know about this as a stadium sports. It is not one of the "big money" sports and therefore will not be a stadium filler for multiple decades.

Realistically speaking it's just less funded and has less of a pipeline. More money is in football so more people try to play it and it attracts the best athletes. It's a circular problem since there's nothing intrinsically wrong with the sport

I looked up this game just now, at the swimming pool chatting with a guy about it I couldn't grasp the concept, but I got it in the first few seconds of the video. Very entertaining sport to watch and to play...I would have loved to dive and try to catch that disk 60 years ago, now I am 70 and I only catch at the Disco.
Lady condors was my team... we practiced on the beach. Back in the Olden days early 1980s

This is slower paced than american football because passing a football is easier than a frisbee. I like this more. Passing a frisbee is almost art

Pasa que a los gringos les gusta ver golpes por eso al fútbol para ellos es de mujeres aunque también se matan a patadas muchas veces, en los 80 hubo una mezcla de fútbol con hockey y fútbol americano que dió resultado porque aumentaba la violencia del juego se llenaban esos estadios

how many steps can you take after catching the frisbee?
It's momentum based so if you were standing still none but if you were running then you just take as many as it takes to slow down. However as long as travels not called you can take an extra step.There's also a separate mechanic known as pivoting where you keep your left foot planted and pivot off it.
Thanks for sharing. I can't help butwonder how the game would change wearing standard football type clothing. hmm..so much injury in real football..the matter has troubled me for years, was the frisbee invented after the football...seems so.
A fundamental difference is that ultimate is a no-contact sport
