We had gotten in there not too long ago. I had heard that they had since beefed up security. Sorry you didn't make it in!
LOL "500$ fine" from a private institution for being on the OUTSIDE of private property... hmm....
Probably a threat more than anything. Depends if the No Trespassing signs are actually around the property and not just on that fence.
Mr. Security Guard was a real bad ass. I doubt he sees much action out there, you probably made his day.
Thanks for the shoutout Adam! We appreciate it and enjoyed your video as well! Did you have to sweet talk him to let you off easy? :) - Tom and Burt
When I saw ***** had posted it, I was about to respond that ***** had posted it earlier. I guess I was one second too late :)
You are never too late Todd. Thanks for commenting. Tom
Phoenix Trotting Park- 1965-66
The track was originally supposed to cost about $2 million, but the final cost ended up being a $9.5 million.
There are a number of reasons why the Trotting Park was unsuccessful:
Low Attendance - Although opening night drew over 12,000 people, the park's attendance had dwindled to less than 3,000 by the end of 1966.
Remote Location - Located far from downtown, the Trotting Park was not easily accessible as its construction predated Interstate 10 by twenty years.
Cost Overruns - Construction of the park soared far beyond expectations, giving the owners little room to make a profit.
Competition - Phoenix's Turf Paradise racetrack at 19th Ave and Bell Road had already been established for a decade and featured live horse racing in the traditional fashion, while the Trotting Park was focused on harness racing - a sport not familiar to most Americans.
Thank you.
You got busted by Paul Blart, mall cop. Oh well, just some dude with a easy job and wanting to keep it that way.
I got in this place, and it was only a few months ago. it's not as secure anymore. it's creepy as fucking hell inside.
+LittleBirdy1 nah, it's more secure. you probably were lucky but my friend was busted and I was busted a month later.
+Reach I've been in multiple times, you just must've been unlucky
LittleBirdy1 I live in Phoenix also. Let's make some babies.
500 for any photo..hmmm, then I want inside since it's going to cost me lol
Adam. Please ask my mom. I don't want to be in trouble
I was just going to say that...
That guy at the end was hilarious.
Never mind, it's not the Horse track, it' really the Dog track that is far across form the county jail. Plus it's filed with some kind of paint of substance that gives cancer or something worst if come in contact inside or an explosion.
It was built in 1964 and opened in 65, Closed in 1967 or 68.
I can tell you exactly what that mangled and distroted thing is. that's the cage that holds in the plastic container on an IBC (intermediate bulk container for liquids). it's pretty weak metal. the sheetmetal bit is the bit on the bottom.
I noticed that too, I been eyeballing some for an aquaponics setup.
I live in California but when my mom and I drive to Arizona to see family I always pass by this place and I've always wanted to see what it looks like
Did you get busted by Boomhauer ? Cuz I had no idea what that guy said.
i use to drive a big truck with our main terminal in phoenix and would pass by here alot....always wondered what it was...thx now i know
He's so tough riding around on his little golf cart! Great people skills too!
4:36 was probably used to support a solar panel.
solar panels in the 60s were not used in every day applications. So it is very unlikely.
Driving by this while visiting my parents, it looks like it makes no sense to be abandoned. Although I heard there's a lot of asbestos in there. It still makes almost every place in PA (and the East Coast) built around the same time look ancient...
I was at the Perryville prison across the freeway several years ago and could see this building from my cell. I would dream about getting on the freeway and leaving. Finally did obviously. So glad to be seeing it like this now.
You being a movie buff I thought you would have mentioned the movie that was filmed there. In the movie they had an explosion inside the building. It killed a shit load of birds.
I found this place way way out in the middle of the desert in 1973 and it was all closed up with weeds growing through the parking lot asphalt. Back then it looked like it was abandoned for ~10 years. It was spooky then - no freeway no houses ??? no paved road to it ?
Why would they put so much effort into using rent a cops in a completely dilapidated structure like that? They must be remodeling.
They got a lot of work if they are remodeling
LOL.....The remodeling part was meant sarcastically.
Weird how those few palm trees were sitting there pretty and fresh up against the building!! While everything else around looks like it was either never finished or completely abandoned and rotted away!
That is a very cool building design, shame it lasted so short a career, thanks for taking the time to share.
Danm! I have driven by this a thousand times and I always wanted to check it out! What a shame to let this property go to waste like it has. This has been unused for at least 15 years or so, I think....... Still very cool!
try 46 years LOL
Same here, wondered why this place looked so familiar, because I've passed by it so many times and wondered what it was.
Join You, Shall I?
Yes, I Shall
"Tas 5 hunid das fi all the shas u take bas 500 buck." *vroooooooooooooom*
It is ok to guard that place since theres the danger for someone falls and kill him self, and the 500$ shows to me that the laws and warnings work in the us better than greece. But i also have some question marks on my head, about why they holding this building like that since its location was not suitable as i read, and why they didn't guard that building more closer? That security guy over there sould be closer to the place. But i can give credit to the designer of that place, though it was build in 65 it is way ahead for its time.Who knows maybe they will make the place work again or something.
i heard that they filmed a movie here back in the day and set off some explosives and blew many pigeons to hell. animal rights activists were not too happy about it.
"Join me, Shall you?" Looks like that security guy intended on joining you! Huehuehue.
WOW! it is heavily guarded now. My father and I walked all around the outside of this place about 25 years ago. It was just a simple fence, and at that time their was no graffiti at all!
This building was torn down after nearly 50 years a derelict. 10/2017
I think someone was injured there, that place is falling apart on it's own. It's very dangerous. I live right down the street from it.
JX Editor nobody ever got hurt there. Or rather there isn't any record or proof of anyone getting hurt here. It's still very much so structurally sound, the only genuine danger is asbestos and bird feces.
That place has been on lockdown since they started constructing the bridges nearby; it's a shame, I really wanted to explore it.
That was one mean looking security vehicle... But sadly, no yellow lights!
:) Made me laugh!
Beautiful building!!!
Hey man, I definitely think you should go visit the abandoned Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, SC! I was just there; it's fairly simple to get into, and there's a lot of cool things to look at!
UPDATE: it was torn down September of 2017. I have homes both in California and Arizona so, i have driven by this place many times. Link to AZ news article regarding its demolition: www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/southwest-valley-breaking/2017/09/27/demolition-phoenix-trotting-park-begins/708357001/
Sometimes your the bug, sometimes you're the windshield!
I was out there back in January at the wild Horse Pass Motorsports park (used to be Firebird Raceway) putting in a new PA and WiFi system while they were restoring it to re-open for NHRA. Trotting park is owned by the same group and we did a legal walkthrough of it to see how, where and figure up cost to reinstall PA and WiFi there if and when they re-open it. In fact i have a key to the fence locks. The place when I was there was pretty much gutted out but structurally sound and pretty solid. Yes security watches this place, Yes they can and will detain you and call the Maricopa sheriff dept. and Yes they will press charges of trespassing, vandalism, breaking and entering, entering and remaining, attempted burglary, and the list goes on depending on the officer that arrests you. This is NOT a wise place to explore because as I said they do watch it closely and have private armed and un armed security and even off duty police there. You got VERY lucky the security guy let you walk out of there.
no they can't- he wasn't beyond the fencing, therefore no trespassing etc has occurred
yes they can in fact because they do own the land beyond the actual building also.
Damn! Oh well, glad you got to see it while you were here. Having driven by it really often, it was nice to see an up close view. Thx Adam!
$500 fine for NOT jumping a fince or passing signs that say no tresspassing.. wow
figured he would give you a warning at least.
i can understand a fine if you actually broke in. but wow..
OMG! I pass this all the time when going to California and we were always trying to figure out what this was. Thanks Adam! Sorry you got busted though. :/
Yes, I was wondering why this looked so familiar, I've seen this countless times when I travel to Arizona.
We been there exploring at night and my brother in law caught on camera a paranormal thing on the top of the roof looking down at us from outside.
It has been explored often--- very futuristic when built-- unfortunately at the time the greyhound track used to draw 4x the people-- at the time it was in the middle of nowhere and the roads were bad. Pigeons and the owls that eat them call it home now.
Drove by a couple months ago and thought to myself that this would be a cool place for you to go to, glad to see you did!
Correction grey hound arena
I live in Az
lol, i love your channel! Its awesome, try to do more amusment parks?
I think HE DID get busted by Boomhauer...geez I can't understand him.
Yes! A new video! Adam you should come to nj to film, I mean come on.. We were the one who started the "weird" books. Go to the abandoned greystone mental institution first
How were you able to get in there, I live like 10 minutes or less away from this place and I've always wanted to
take a look inside and photograph it. I give you props for actually being able to get in
I got inside and it was weird the whole time I thought satan was going to pop out and but rape me I'll inbox you the video
+HunterDoesFishing Reviews - How did you manage to get inside if you don't mind me asking?
Umm text me and I will 623sixosixto5for2
Jhono and Marko coming to Phoenix 1-18-16 to 2-2-16 to do some video and photography. If you are interested in hooking up for a few UE's let me know. Doing a show soon on UE The real History.
I pass by this every day on the way to work
phoenix is not 20 miles from goodyear, not even 10. depending on what part of phoenix it can be anywhere from 5-10 miles, although the east side of Phoenix is about 20 miles
Thank you Adam for what you do and sharing all these really cool abandoned places. It really sparks my imagination! LOL
Very similar to one we used to have down the road in the UK! Think someone moved it to Arizona.
I just now notice the Planet express ship tatto...Go adam! Go bender go bender!
Awesome video Adam! Glad that guy let you off the hook :-D
Nice job as usual Adam. To bad you couldn't get in.
Should have offered the guy a hundred for a tour, he probably would have taken it
My Grandma tells me stories of going to this place when she was young
:-) as usual loved this video. Thanks for your hard work and amazing places, I don't know how you keep finding them...
I live about 5 miles from it, I pass it twice a day, it was just purchased, rumor has it, the owners will tear it down don't know what they will do with the land
the basement in that place must be home to a monster of some sort... Tom is lucky that he made it out of there alive ;o
This looks a lot like the dogtrack in Tampa adam, its been closed awhile too but is still in good shape.
Security was talking out of his ass...you can't be fined for anything unless you went over the fence. I have worked security for multiple agencies in multiple places. He was just trying to be a big shot.
Lol, $500 fine...he has no authority to impose fines for walking in publicly accessible areas. LOL.
Thanks for the shots of the place, pretty cool.
Adam, what was in that drum, you kicked? lol
It wasn´t a good day for Adam !! The barbed wire and the security guy ruined his day !
Hey Bon at least we "people" in Arizona live some where nice
I lived 10 mins away from that joint. Go in once ans was kicked out just as quick. lol They filmed a flick there, cant remember the title but the piro used to "blow" it up killed a ton of birds that were living in there and it caused a huge stink!!!!!!
A $500 fine is getting off lightly? I wonder what your idea of getting off heavily is then, Adam.
And if the fence were better maintained then they wouldn't need security who seemed to come from nowhere, because I didn't see a hut or office for them. Maybe he was asleep in is car or driving past.
All the windows were blown out during a filming of a movie. No Code of Conduct was the name of the movie,. I think Charlie Sheen was one of the actors.
Always watch out for the ones in golf carts...
Hahahaha omg (scoot scoot) "Hey man. $500 fine for those exterior shots" (beep beep) (vroom)
Myanmar Adam you just past 50,000 you have to have some celebration vid or was it the one where you had your vids as a kid
What are they hiding in there? Gezz $500 just for checking the place out. I saw security 😳 coming and, I thought oh crap. I'm glad you got out of there.
Hi Adam, I am really enjoying all of your videos.
I visited this place last summer, before they put up the razorwire and that crazy chainlink fence. I know the place was attractive to pretty much everyone, I mean, you can see it right off the freeway, looking like a crazy spaceship from a 1970's idea of the future. How could you NOT want to investigate??
While I was there, I saw someone inside from afar, not sure what their story was, but I suspect they were living there, and likely why the extra security was put in place. In any case, I got the heck out of there pretty quick after that.
Keep up the awesome work!
They can only fine you if you go past the fencing lol. Why is the place so protected?
David Watkins Because it's private property...?
+David Watkins Somebody owns it. Their lawyers have probably told them to take adequate measures to secure the premises or be liable.
Security dude has a second job as a bottle opener.
This is like literally 5-10 minutes from my house.
So i guess a second grade degree is a requirement to be a security guard at the Trotting park?
my kids laughed their asses off then that barrel started coming back for you.
There wasn't any signs saying no pictures or video was there? because otherwise he can't give you a ticket, and you didn't go inside the gate.
+Cori Eddings If it's in plain view and you're on public property there's nothing anyone can do if you're filming.
My mom drives by this place on her way to work all the time.
This place is completely demolished now.
Didn't they blow up the building in the 90's for "No Code Of Conduct"?
So, wait. Did he actually fine you or just let you off with a 'warning'?
I used to live there. Born in Mesa. This place never did any good
You're gonna have to get a camera drone for places like this.
Greetings from Phoenix :)
thanks for showing me all the security measures cause I'm going over there rn💀
Reminds me of the "Robot Jox" arena!
i hate seeing this place every time i pass by it on my way to wikkenburg
Guess that barrel wanted to be where it was.
man adaam, i watch all your damn videos haha. I live in goodyear, az
I live just a couple miles from here but have never been there. Have you been to jackass acres in new river or Cordes ranch?
GDay from Tasmania Australia, from your Freshest Sub :P
