Without a doubt, I daily recommend my friends who be complaining about maths and physical sciences to watch your videos because I know there gonna be improvements. 2 already thanked me though they should thank you, how helpful your work is and it's all appreciated

I love how you answered 2.2.1 I have been checking memo for that question paper and it seemed like they did not follow the rules.... because they named that compound from from the other side which closer to the branch and that was wrong...even this other test from the district...they copied they same mistake...I had to give Learners marks for writing it the way you did... because that's how it is supposed to be..but the memo was wrong...😀

The method is actually like this; 1. Number from both sides on the longest chain. 2. Add the numbers with branches and halogens together (for both directions) 3. The sum that gives you the lowest number is the direction you use when naming.
@@Vilakazi naming of Halogens has been a topic of debate for hundreds of years, the system I just described above was accepted by the IUPAC board in '63. Ask any chemist graduate. As for why it's not in high school guidelines, I don't know...
8:35 - sir, I thought that the branches take priority over the halogens and when you name it you start with the methyl group. Does alphabetical order take priority over the branches in the chain?
@@MlungisiNkosi okay, but what about numbering the chain. Which direction should we count from if alkyl group and halogen is numbered on the same lowest number in both directions?

5 - bromo-2,3 - dimethylhexane is the updated answer (HALOGENS DON'T TAKE PREFENCE OVER CHAIN SUBSTITUENTS - NEW UPDATE TO EXAM GUIDELINES)
You know there has been a back-and -forth over this matter over the years... That's what I've always maintained. Thank you for confirming it
In this case the halogen takes precedence-due to alphabetical order- because it has the same number as the alkyl when counting from both ends.

Highly appreciated
You’re welcome
Hello sir🌸
I hope you’re well 😊
By 2.2.2, underneath the side chain CH3, should there be a hydrogen or not?
Yes there should be 🙈
8:35 - sir, I thought that the branches take priority over the halogens and when you name it you start with the methyl group. Does alphabetical order take priority over the branches in the chain?
Alphabetical order always takes priority
@@MlungisiNkosi oohhh ok. Thank you so much for clarifying that
Hello once again Mr. Nkosi. Is the functional group of an aldehyde a formyl group or a carbonyl group? Or will they accept both?
Both are acceptable
So easterification is basically arrhenius's theory of acids and bases?
They kinda look the same but they are based on different principles

I was doing it...And it was difficult thank you 🙏🙏🙏
You are welcome
It is helpful and even question 1 section B 2020 pure chemistry.
Sorry sir but 2.2.1 is wrong
I also thought it was like too but in haloalkanes you choose the sum that gives you the lowest number

Sir I was kindly asking if you could post the solutions for the entire paper
That’s a lot yhoooo but I’ll try
So sir since the has been an update on the exam guideline in terms of question 2.2.1, which one should I write?
Or they both correct?
What would be your alternative answer? And why?
Hello Mr. Nkosi. Do halogens take priority over the alkyl groups as substituents in terms of numbering?
Beautiful question... So, the revised IUPAC system advocates for naming everything in alphabetical order.
@@MlungisiNkosi okay, but what about numbering the chain. Which direction should we count from if alkyl group and halogen is numbered on the same lowest number in both directions?
