Sorry all, I have a lot of natural sunlight that floods in to the shop from my left hand side, it tends to wash out colours a bit! I’ll get some lower light pics in future 😀👍
Option #2 for me, but both are a great choice. having one build where you go through your working process is always a good thing. Keeps you sharp! It's going to be a beautiful summer!
Both choices of wood are amazing and will make a wonderfull guitar, I can't really decide. I'll finally go for the canary and olive. The offset design is awesome, can't wait to see it finished !
I have a suggestion, would you consider making the body with the grain turned sideways or on a 45. Maybe a different and unique sustaining tone. Every one all makes their body grains the same.
Thanks Dave, it’s partly for the dimensions of the wood, the tops are not big enough to be reoriented sideways. I have experimented before but I wasn’t keen on the aesthetics to be honest.
Yeah, that new shape is a much better refinement I like it. ...and I only wish I was flooded with natural sunlight! I think blocking up the garage door was a mistake, I work in a cave now!
Thanks Chris, I really appreciate the feedback on the shape. Yes it’s normally great to have to have lots of natural light, it’s only a problem when I’m trying to show subtle colours, I really noticed it on this one. 👍
I quite like the Ovangkol top with an Olive Wood fretboard? A nice contrast. I'm rather hooked on Olive fretboards since you last did one. Looking forward to a new build series :)
I really like the new guitar shape Gio, well done! Of the 2 options, both would make fantastic guitars, but my preference would be the canary and olive woods.
Nice brother, great video. I like both selections but I'm a real sucker for Canary!! That gets my vote. You hardly ever see a piece that clean and the grain is just stunning!! I'm sure whichever wood you choose will produce a killer offset my friend!! ✌️🤍
Wow, both options are stunning. But I would go for the Ovangkol. It speaks out a bit more, at least for me. But I am shure you will make a great guitar of both options. And also the little change of the body speaks for me.
I love the revised shape, and seeing it against the original really highlights the differences. I am excited to see this build, always a fan of a carved top as well. As for the wood combos I am torn, the canary is spectacular, but love the tonal variations on the ovangkol fretboard. Ultimately I will say canary with the olive fretboard.
😅either way it’s going to be amazing with your new design. I’m eventually you will do something with both but I think the Canary would be my choice. I can’t wait to watch you create
Ooh, I shall enjoy this, I’m a sucker for offsets. I loved the original but the refinements to the body really make sense. Wood? Carve top and offset it’d be the Ovankol for me. I also wondered what the book match would look like using the outer edges. As always, great stuff Gio
🤣 I know you are! This is my master plan to sell you a Tornelli! 🤣 I’m actually going to try matching the outer edges to see how that looks, we will see. Your vote has been registered 😀👍
Gio, I think both sets are beautiful and would work, but I agree with @MooCowX2X - use the Ovangkol on a symmetrical shape to show off its symmetry. The canary is less 'bookmatched' and wouid work perhaps better with the offset design. Love the modified shape, BTW!
Nice selection of wood, hmm first thing that came to mind was the middle one ( old Welsh saying, see those 2 houses over by there, mines the middle one 😁) really like the canary top and the avankol fretboard not sure if they would go together (option 3?). On colour do you have a lot of natural light coming into the workshop? Your videos seem to have a yellow/orange hue to them. Which ever you choose im sure it will be spot on as usual 👍
🤣 you’re the first to pick option 3! And you’re right there is natural sunlight that floods in from the left hand side, it does wash out colours, normally that’s not too much of an issue but I’ll take some low light pics in future when I do this. Thanks for the feedback Barry 👍
I liked option 1 the best. I like how there is less of a curve to the grain. Have you considered doing the book match along the opposite edge? Or flipping the top so that the grain points down?
Thanks Andrew, I tried it in a couple of different orientations but the general consensus seems to be option 2 now. I’ll try that a few different ways before landing on the final layout too. 👍
Both sets have a similar grain pattern and color but I think set 2 has a bit more contrast in the grain so I think that would be the one I would choose. Before you choose I have a suggestion for you to try. Instead of putting the tight thin grain pattern of the first set in the middle see what it would look like if the wider grain pattern was put on the inside of the top.
I love both options, it's very tough to decide. But why not going for option 3 with the ovangkol top and olive fretboard? It sounds weird, I know, but I feel like it would be a very interesting combination
Of the two I would go with the second choice as you know I love that olive wood. However... Whats the chance you could drop me a pic of just the okume and the olive? Also maybe a shot with the ovankol top side by side but with the outer ends together. I kind of feel too many wood sets go with that arrow in the center style when there may be possibilities for a better style and fit to certain body shapes NOT doing that if you can follow what I mean in my warped head haha.
Thank you! I think this was from Riwood (rivolta). Most of my wood these days comes from contacts that just get in touch when they have something they think I’ll like 😂
Definitely the canary wood and even better… If you have enough wood to bring the grain in line with the guitar centre line i.e., leave the top as it is and bring the bottom inwards it will still look book matched.
Both tops are quite special, but for me the canary/olive gets my vote for this one. I’m assuming a gloss finish? Also I like it when you talk through your builds. It helps us novice builders understand the processes better.
I think option 1 is my vote… as option 2 is seriously bad and worth an unsub if you choose it 😂. As if!!! Both are stunning and can’t wait to see both projects in both flat and carve top iterations.
Sorry all, I have a lot of natural sunlight that floods in to the shop from my left hand side, it tends to wash out colours a bit! I’ll get some lower light pics in future 😀👍
These are both stunning options but I think my preference would be the canary.

Love Option 1. Just becomes so stunning with its patterns and the fretboard being complimentary to the whole design.
Thanks Pat, your vote has been logged! 😀👍
Canary/ Olive. No question. So stunning. 👍🎸🎸🎸
Thanks Mike, your vote has been logged!😀👍
Both sets look stunning but option 2 gets my vote. Also love the shape!!!
You and Todd are just the kings of timber porn 😂
🤣 Thanks Curtis, we certainly both spend too much time trawling the earth for pretty wood! Your selection is noted!👍
Definitely the Canary wood top!!! I am seriously digging the shape of that new design!
Thank you my friend, your vote has been logged!😀 thanks also for your feedback on the design I really appreciate it 👍
I think for option Number 1. I love the grain on the top and the double tone fretboard!
Thanks Lars, I have counted your vote!😀👍
Canary and Olive for sure! Wish I had that Canary top! It is stunning!

Both of those wood combos look amazing. Have your way with them.
Thanks Dane, they are both great pieces! I’m really looking forward to this one!👍
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Canary wood, that’s a beautiful piece.
It is really beautiful wood, I’ll take that as your vote! 😀👍
The Canary top and Olive fretboard really jumped out at me, right off the bat!
Both will be quite beautiful though.

Thanks so much for heading over, I really appreciate it!👍
Man you get hold of the sweetest timbers! Canary wood and olive would be my fave though.
Thanks Mick, yes I’m so lucky to have access to some great timber, your vote has been logged!😀👍
Any of the combinations would be beautiful!, love the new shape!
Thanks Pete and I really appreciate your feedback on the new shape!👍
I vote option A on the woods. Either would be stellar though.
Thanks Pip, and thanks for the comment, your selection is noted!👍

Haha option 3! 😂 I do love olive fretboards too 👍
It's certainly hard to choose but I think the Canary/Olive wood gets my vote.

I was ready to say Ovangkol until I saw the Canary! So I think Canary.!
Thanks Arran, the canary is pretty awesome! Your vote has been logged my friend 😀👍
Beautiful woods. I vote for the ovangkol
Thanks John, your vote has been counted!😀👍
I really can't choose. They're both awesome.
Thank you my friend!👍

Love that new shape Geo😊👍🏼
Thanks my friend, I have made this so I will have a vid up shortly! 👍
Canary wood will be great ❤

Beautiful! I’d go for the canary
I think that’s the winner!😀👍
Option one wins for me, only just though. Both options are beautiful woods.

If it were me. Id go olive and Canary. But only because the symmetry of the ovangkol top really deserves a very symmetrical body in my eyes.
