Respect🙏 Brompton paved the way for trifolds:) I wish to be able to afford the P Line one day.
Since young, Bromptons are like the Transformers of foldable bikes to me. The folding just make so much sense and is so practical! Respect 🙏
Bromptons are always a dream to me till one day OEMs start to appear and my dreams become a reality, sort of...

That’s true, but they don’t innovate after, most of the new improvements are ideas copied from the aftermarket and the imitators.
They keep the price high by limiting their productions, using antiques cottage industries method. Those expensive handmade products are good quality but exclusive.
Brompton milked their invention to the upmost, the high price is almost of snob value and they play on the Anglophiles superior English attitudes, like British racing green, London Olympic and other editions.
I have an old Brompton with electric conversion and like it too much, but it’s really heavy especially carrying between stations.
I don’t really care much for the traditions, and would gladly swap it for a ultra light clone, but cannot justify the additional expenses for the seldom used bike.

@@madsam0320 "Those who follow in the footsteps, will never come first"! But Brompton still produces most parts in expensive England, and even my Top -"Ligthweigth", with a titanium fork and back, have been updated with with Chinese parts as a new titanium seat post and other parts. But making processes be made by an automated machine, may give as inexpensive production prices as copy parts made in the east. But prices are naturally also given by the local area, and as the EU, at least in the North, are among the richest areas in the world, it also gives high price products!

There are so many of these Brompton clones on the market now, it has left me lost as to which one to buy. I don't like the Brompton for it's weight, price & crude execution. I would prefer a bike with 100 mm & 135 mm drop out spacing to make it easier to upgrade parts. I would like a nicely welded & finished bike with good but not necessarily lycra class parts, possibly disc brakes & an Alfine hub. Am I anywhere close to what is available? Thank you.

I also made a full review on the Aceoffix on why external speeds roll better than internal hub, IMO. Do check it out too ☺️
Overall, I would choose the 3speeds external over the internal hub. Aceoffix over Pikes for me.
I will do a in-depth comparison between Pikes and Aceoffix soon:D

I appreciate people like you willing to put yourself out there. I actually bought a Brompton last year as it was almost the same price as any of the Clones here in the United States. I would really like to have a second bike now for traveling and when friends are visiting so I'm trying to find a cheaper option that is as compact because holy crap Brompton has increased in price in the last year! Everything imported is likely going to continue going up. It looks like the mobot camp Royale seems to be the highest quality/ reliable clone. I wouldn't mind going for something lower-quality if it was going to be a significant cost-savings but in the States were talking a couple hundred dollars difference and this isn't something I'm looking to replace, it's a long-term investment.
